  1. Evening! Anyone know how big an exhaust clamp I need for a Magnex on my VR, for the join between the cat and the centre pipe? And, where can I buy a decent quality one? Mine has snapped. :(
  2. Yeah, that's the water pump. And as Steve says, fit a genuine pump. They're less than £40 after all...
  3. Don't see anything wrong with a TT personally. A nice 3.2 Quattro would probably be a lot of fun...
  4. The coolant hose might have something to do with the pump. Don't use it any more as if it's got the original pump with plastic blades, they might get snapped off and jammed in the cooling system, and if it's been replaced with a pump with metal blades, they might start wearing into the block...

Brake caliper carriers  HAppened with a corrado in Germany last year, they will come loose....
  6. There's a thread with some pictures on here too.
  7. I've not pooed through a heater vent before.... Anyway. If the wings are otherwise ok, then I'd jenalite them, and paint them well before giving them a good thick coat of the VW underseal/stoneguard. They'll last 3 or 4 years before rotting through. Not ideal, but saves having to get 2 new wings and getting them sprayed right now...
  8. If you can get that lot done for £1500 I'd be very surprised.
  9. Don't rely on service history either. Mine had full VWSH up to about a year before I bought it, and it was totally forked.
  10. Don't assume that you won't need to spend money on a car, whether it's cheap on expensive. They'll all need some sort of attention....
  11. The curve of the early wings and bonnet and late wings and bonnet don't quite match, not easy to spot unless you're a proper corrado pervert. :dorky:
  12. Yup. :) How're things going? You'll probably see me scampering around in the white VR some time soon.
  13. Looks like a late bonnet fitted to an early car. Look at the tips of the bonnet, they don't line up quite right with the wings.
  14. It's not quite that clear cut. Plenty of cross over cars on a J or K, with late exteriors and early interiors. Even some VRs with early interiors.
  15. This is turning into a bit of a random ramble but, meh. Really been in two minds about the VR, not happy with it on several levels. Got a few things I want to change, and a few things I'm disappointed with, but, I think I've actually realised, that it's never going to be perfect, and I should just play to it's strengths and enjoy the bloody car. Met up with Tekara, Pete_Griff and KIPVR this evening, and went to look at Kip's car, it is absolutely immaculate. Really really impressive work, and really enjoyed poking around the workshop full of various Japanese vehicles. :luvlove: Chris drove my car back while I had a go with Pete's Evo. 2 things arose from this, firstly, my VR goes well. :D Secondly, the Evo is absolutely FUCKING HAMAZING! So quick, so solidly planted, was a real eye opener going out in it, still struggled to keep up with Chris on his home turf though. Rally seriously thinking that I should have just broken the VR and bought a Mitsubishi.... Had some really positive comments about the car, which I'm really flattered by, which made me come to the prior conclusion, plus the fact that I explored it's limits a bit more on my way home... Cheers guys...
  16. You know what, that's exactly how I feel at the moment. I know my VR is on a far lower level, but I just don't think it will be as fun day to day as the 16v, and the suspension is bound to get on my tits, especially when it aggravates my bad back.
  17. Bloody hell Juliet, you are going to town! Get the wings off ok? Would be worth giving the inner wings a good couple of coats of waxoyl before refitting the wings. Notice the carbon canister and the bumper bracket is also painted red. Would be worth checking the inner wing for rust or damage.
  18. The bias valve on the rear axle? Euro Car Parts sell them made by ATE so good quality, £55ish. The old one will probably be seized to the bolts/bracket and may need to be cut off, so coat the bolt holes and face that bolts up to the bracket with grease when fitting the new one.
  19. Red on Green looks good. 8)
  20. Got the stone chip repaired today, and took the 16v back to have it's screen sorted. :D Did a few more miles in her, currently trying a tank of normal 95 octane unleaded with a can of Octane booster in it, compared to a tank of super unleaded just to see what happens really. Can't quite decide what to do with the suspension. Softening it has made it better generally, but it hopped unpleasantly across the road this evening. Also got on and fitted the A pillar trims properly, hoovered the car completely out, removed all the leaves from the scuttle tray, drove it about a bit. etc.
  21. Be interesting to see what rado you end up with..... I know you don't jump into anything. Got any pics of the TT since the cage went in? Be good to see it. I'm a big fan of the new TTs, as long as they aren't cabrios...
  22. There's a screw hidden in front of the rear ash tray. But I think you mean the actual cover on the lever? You need to pull a little nubbin downward on the bottom of the hand grip which allows the hand grip to be pulled off of the lever, then the trim can be pulled off too. Does that help?
