  1. Oh, and I nearly shoved the 16v into the back of an Audi. Bit of a buttock clenching moment with chirps from the rear wheels as they locked up skipping across the undulating tarmac slowing down from 60mph. All worked out in the end, although I do need to invest in some new disks and mintex 1144 front pads soon.
  2. Does look lovely in Grey. :)
  3. Cheers! Made a decision last night, and hopefully I'll be able to order some more parts this week. Fingers crossed.... Did a little more to the car. Treated all the larger rust spots on the drivers side with Dinitrol, started putting top coat on the rear arch. Still not got the right shape but it's not too bad. Think I'll attack it again when I have more enthusiasm for sanding... As happy as I'm going to be with the dent in the boot lid. It's another example of a crap area to try to repair, with silly shaped curves and a lip on it. There's basically a lot more paint on the car than there was, although there's still a lot of work to do. Built the front suspension struts up this afternoon. Need to coat them in waxoyl, and sort some small patches of rust in the turrets before they can be fitted.
  4. Yeah, they are different, I've got a VR and a 16V rack at home, I'll try to get pics for you tomorrow. Would part numbers be any use?

    How's the V8 conversion going??? :D
  6. I doubt a wire brush would actually damage it that much. More thinking that the head has corroded really badly, or more material wants taking off... If it is pitted, then a skim of chemical metal ought to help.
  7. Throw a pic of the flange and the end of the head up....
  8. Fitted some to Dom's rear last year, good pads, make sure you follow the bedding in instructions. Not sure where he got his from though. :( I'd like some for my 288s
  9. You sure did! Was on Wednesday I think! Saw you last night (Thursday) I was in the green landrover on Sarum road when you turned into Kilham lane. Also saw the other H reg blue pearl effect valver on Stockbridge road just afterwards.
  10. The oil cooler is the aluminium cube with the water pipes attached to it, it is screwed up between the filter, and the bracket. There is a pipe through the centre with a thread on the outside that the filter screws onto. There's also a nut around this to hold the cooler in place. The cooler has a rubber oring around the top to form a seal. Oil passes through holes in the cooler, which has pipework inside it with coolant being pumped through, and into the filter, it then passes back up through the central pipe and into the oilways... Or it goes the other way round, down the pipe, through the filter, up out through the cooler... I can never be sure... :)
  11. Silver thing by the coil is the ignition amplifier. It's by the ecu for the KR. The bit behind it is the coil, which provides the spark for the plugs. The two parts poking out the top of the filter bracket are the oil pressure switches, these sometimes leak, so it's best to keep an eye on them.
  12. Karmann made the corrado in their factory in the town of Osnabruk. :)
  13. What actual size is it? Like 0075 or something?
  14. Well, not actually me, but enough of my DNA to construct a replica. :)

    Silver VR6

It is really nice. Kinda wish I'd had the cash to take it from Dom and save myself some work. As well as the ferrets, I'm pretty sure I left a large bucket of grease, and a set of "massage" beads behind one of the seats...
  16. Nope, you can still get an airlock despite the electric pump. You shouldn't lose much coolant changing the sensor over, but, you should still run the car up with the cap off the expasion tank to allow air to move aroud the system. The electric pump won't push the air out by itself sadly, or at least hasn't in my experience.
  17. There are 2 screws on top, and one below, you access it through a hole in the top of the slam panel, it often rusts badly though... Good luck!
  18. The metal ends just pull out of the rollers, but are very hard to move.

    Help! mis-fire

First things first, is the coil pack cracked or arcing?
  20. apparently at BVF you were both. :) He's not going to remember that! Haven't a clue tbh, but I think I was inviting all and sundry into my tent. Or at least Dave...
  21. I'm not angry.... I'm a lover, not a fighter. :D Joe, look on page 2 of the thread....
  22. Check these phyotoshop skills out....
  23. I might just buy a can of that and try it out... I think one wheel is going to end up with several different coloured layers on it... :D
  24. Might well be the end of the cable stuck into the metal guide tube. I had to remove my cables and the tubes complete and use a blowtorch to melt the end of the cable so I could remove it. Then use a drill to clean the inside of the tube. The golden coloured guide tubes just pull out of the car in a not very straight manner...
