  1. The ABF has a better stroke to rod ratio than in the 9A, so it revs better, more like the KR characteristic wise, and can produce 200bhp with the right tuning etc.
  2. They look good dude, have you still got the set you used to have when you were here? Or is this a bit of an upgrade? Is she all booked in for the test? will be interesting to see how it gets on. Good luck! Got the rear axle on finally. Need to sort rear brakes, handbrake cables etc, but, I dropped it back on some wheels and jacked and blocked the front end up tonight ready to remove the front subframe, steering rack etc and replace with the shinier newer ones. :)
  3. Southam in Warwickshire I think.
  4. That connector can suffer from water ingress. If you are lucky it's only the engine side of the loom that has been damaged. I'd try taking the connector apart and checking the wires on the car side of the wiring loom, and look out for a good engine wiring loom....
  5. Just drop the complete engine in and use your existing inlet and injection system, plus all the sensors. Easy... You probably ought to have the Warm Up Regulator adjusted for the 2l engine, Stealth can do this and set the fueling up on the rolling road.
  6. Nice to hear you're getting on well... Been under mine tonight looking at the same sort of rust issues.... :( Looking forwards to seeing a few pictures.
  7. Burgandyish G60, K plate perhaps, queing on the end of the A34 at the M3 roundabout yesterday about 4.30, 2 blokes in it and sat on G60 BBS looked good. Today, 10.30ish in Salisbury, Green VR on a trailer behind a black Range Rover, Irish plates (RIL XXXX)???

    Looks like a Scirroco.
  9. From playing with calipers in the past, I don't believe you can remove the handbrake mech from the caliper. Sorry!

As I understand it, the Mocals from Stealth have a specially made plate or end for some reason...

Hence my interest in where the mocal came from...

Where did the mocal come from? A few people have mentioned that they have had Mocals which have made no difference to oil temps to me in the past.
  13. I have a pair, brand new, in Winchester. I kinda wanted them to stay like that till I used them, but if you're desperate....

  16. Mmmmm more otter! :thumbleft: Otters are the way forward....
  17. I tried emailing them and got a bounceback. I don't like talking to strangers. I'm shy.... :(
  18. Out of interest, I don't have all of the washers etc needed for my Konis. cn I just drill all the standard ones out? Thanks. P.J. Otter.
  19. There is a machined groove near the end of the splined shaft attached to the flange, it sits in there, and then you need to press the flange into the box. You need to find the old circlip first though....
  20. Ok. It should have a circlip in a groove which locates in the diff. My guess is that has come out... If the driveshaft comes too far out of the gearbox you will loose all the oil.
  21. What do you mean "Come out of the gearbox"? Has the flange pulled out of the diff? Or the driveshaft pulled out of the CV joint?
  22. It's not too bad Jim, I changed mine. Main issue is getting the coolant pipes off which are awkward (for a change  ). I can give you a hand some time if you fancy? Might be worth looking at replacing the hoses that fit it, at the time.
  23. Also, I know this is unlikely, but... I did timing chains etc on one car and the key on the cam sprocket had actually sheared off at some point, meaning the rear bank were running a tooth out. Luckily enough material was left so that it couldn't rotate completely and just jammed at that position.
  24. Hmmmmmm. Seems that 4mo Autos did exist. Can't find any 2wd golf 2.8 Autos though. So started thinking, what about Boras, Jettas or Passats? Or... 2.3 V5 has the same basic block layout as the VR6, maybe you could get an autobox from one of them? I wouldn't trust my search results though.... They might be out there...
  25. Yup, but the 2.8 auto box would bolt straight on to an R32, and be more modern, and take the power better than the aged VR auto box no doubt.
