  1. When the engine is off and the gearbox is in gear and you spin one wheel the outer ring of the diff is held in place, so the only thing that can happen is that the opposite wheel will turn in the opposite direction. if that wheel was held stationary then the engine would be turned over. With it out of gear, part of the gearbox can rotate, so it does, rather than the opposite wheel doing so. It's basically about what friction is easier to overcome.
  2. Without being rude, the HT leads are on correctly?
  3. Excellent... What you picking up?? Will be good to see the beast when it's tuned. Either that or Rich sobbing quietly. Good luck to him, as I want a ride... :)
  4. Perfect thanks, so i need 2 rear axle to caliper and 2 chassis to axle hoses then... Yup. Shame... Could have done a deal on buying a full set and splitting it between us, but I managed to get some front hoses. :(
  5. In a corrado kit, VR or otherwise there are 6 hoses. 2 flexis for the front brakes, 2 flexis from chassis to rear axle, 2 flexis from rear axle to calipers.
  6. Do it.... Give me a shout and let me know roughly what time you might turn up. :)
  7. I need to take some pics, just haven't had a chance. Rear beam is partly in place. it's a bit tight between the brackets though :( Need to fiddle with it a bit more. :( Keep meaning to ring you to see how things are going. Nice to be making a bit of progress. Just booked the first week of July off for a concerted effort on it.
  8. The corrado was the equivalent of £30,000 in it's day. Anyway, I can only asume that all the constructive comments finished some time ago?
  9. Probably best to keep to one nonsense thread.
  10. Our Landrover TD5 went through 3 dual mass flywheels. Admittedly the first one was a recall after one came apart and ate a bell housing on one vehicle.
  11. To be fair. You didn't have much say in the matter, and nor would most of the others.... :norty: You're not fussy are you Tom? Just any form of human contact works for me.
  12. Despite the fact they were't new and were still covered in oil? You've got a good one there mate :)
  13. No worries mate, if you want a hand before the VR is done, I'll scamper over in the valver, most of the parts are in similar places so we should be able to work it all out.
  14. I was looking at that thinking it looked familiar.... I think she secretly wanted to help get my rear axle on....
  15. Why did you think we were so keen on you coming over for a BBQ???
  16. To be fair. You didn't have much say in the matter, and nor would most of the others.... :norty:
  17. Pretty much. Shame Lucy found the unopened fishing tackle.... :(
  18. Yeah, that's certainly part of it. I'm not into revving the balls out of cars and the valver is piss poor to drive unless you give it beans everywhere you go. I like having low down torque, i'm also not really interested in top end performance. I really miss my 160bhp G40, that's for sure! :( I just find the 16v is too gutless for the heavy Corrado. It feels underpowered, it doesn't have a nice soundtrack, the fuel/bhp ratio is terrible, it can be a pig to fault find etc etc etc . If the MPG was much better with them, then I could see their value, but they're just not that much cheaper to run than the VR or G60 (if at all) so I don't see the point in them, like I say I love the 8v because it gives 40mpg and you still get the thrill of being in a rado. Ultimately, I just don't get on with it. As I said, the VR6 and G60 are full of character, but I just dont get that feeling from valvers, I really don't feel the engine does the Corrado any justice. See, I quite like that about it. It makes me feel like I've got some involvement with the car. The VR just gets on with it, not asking anything of me. I quite like the sound of mine, and it's not so bad for faults, the K-Jet has been used on loads of different cars and there is quite a lot of info on it. (the KE-Jet from the 2l is a bit rubbish though) Ok, the mpg isn't always brilliant, but mine returns 30+, and did over 40mpg across Germany last year. Anyway, I'm not trying to get anyone to like them, as you say, it's each to their own. :D x x x
  19. I wouldn't be at all worried, if it wasn't for the funny shoulder on the bolt. Just wonder what it's for? If there is a purpose to it? There's lots of funny things about these cars that have been fitted or included for a reason.
  20. I've got a VR and 16v, put about 6k on the VR, and 60k on the 16v, will be nice to have the VR back together to make a comparison again, but it won't be fair, as the VR will have all new suspension, bigger rear ARB etc, and the 16v will still be on 210,000 miles. I still have a massive soft spot for the 16v, I would never sell it, I just prefer the old girl. Looking forward to being able to retire it a bit, and start replacing components, and building up a nice engine to go in it. The VR will be the daily, living in car parks, and having miles thrown on it, the 16v will be the toy. I was looking after a G60 for a while, but have only driven one for 5 or 6 miles. Admittedly I enjoyed it, I liked the way it pulled, but I've no idea what it's really like to live with. At the end of the day, as previously mentioned, it's all down to personal choice on the cars, you really do need to get out and try them yourself, preferably several of each as one corrado is very different to another. A lot of people haven't tried other cars, or at least not been able to make proper back to back comparisons. It's worth having a reference point too, just a standard car, i.e. not a corrado, just to help qualify observations. Might keep an eye out for a cheap G60 next year, just to finish the collection.... Walesy what is it that you don't like about the 16v engine? The way it has to be worked quite hard?
  21. I'm so glad everyone isn't taking this seriously.
  22. I must admit, I scamper across junctions on foot, or through red lights, but only if it's clear etc, I try to make sure I'm not going to end up on a car bonnet as I'd probably do it a lot of damage... Was with a random girl waiting to shoot across the junction by my house the other day, stood on the side of the road, off the pavement waiting for an old lady to pass on her bike before we walked across. there was no other traffic in the area, nothing waiting at the junction, or heading towarsds it. She slowed right down, and then called us stupid, before cycling off.
