  1. I agree completely. I really like the 12V VR for all it's so called faults. I think people are too used to knackered 150,000 mile examples with stretched flappy chains and bad idle. Dom's car is a completely different beast with all new bits shoved in it...
  2. Like last tango to paris? No, seriously, I really like steelies.
  3. :) That's what matters. Concentrate on the driving bit, save your money and look after the mechanical bits. :)
  4. Like a plasterers radio.... It's not that bad in real life, just when you start looking closely you can make it out...
  5. Does it do it if you hold the revs just above idle? Could well be chains. Best bet is to whip the rocker cover off and inspect. Bear in mind that the front guide breaks as well as the tensioner pad wearing out.

    Revo Knuckle

Someone posted that a while back Steve. It's an interesting solution.
  7. Depending on the age of your VR6, you might have a strut running from the end of the gearbox to the gearbox mount. You need to remove this first, easy enough. the bolt out the top of the gearbox mount and the 2 bolts horizontally holding it to the gearbox.
  8. I assume VR6 will be along in a moment, but your original thread is here best to keep all the pics in the same thread. :)
  9. If the original holes are a bit bigger, I'd be half tempted to try putting them in with chemical metal. Won't be easy to get them lined up though.
  10. I had issues with the contacts touching when I tried to take the glove box out once, which also buggered up my immobiliser and stopped the car starting, I guess this isn't an issue for you?
  11. Haven't a clue! They changed the fuses about a bit over the years. I'd try unplugging it and seeing what doesn't work. Got a funny feeling the glovebox light might come off that, or one near it.
  12. Might be chafed wiring in the boot lid or on the way to the switch, or it could be somethign completely different if its blowing when the ignition is turned on, there might be several other items running off the same fuse. What number is it?
  13. Might be better posting in the stickied corrado spotting thread here
  14. VW? The solitudes were fairly common wheels on the Golfs weren't they? Edit: The part No. from ETKA is 1H0 601 171 B, but I'd get this checked, just in case....
  15. Are your engine earths all nicely fitted and clean? How about the wiring to the starter? Have you tried jumping it with another battery while you crank the car? I'd be interested to see if you can get rid of the voltage drop. Is it wired in so the x relief relay cuts power inside while cranking?
  16. Could you just use a die to put a thread right up the bbs bolts?

    Coolant for G60

The VW G12 plus plus, is recommended for these, it's got anti corrosion products designed for the aluminium heads, and isn't much more expensive than the VW products.

    [Poll] My color

ROFL.... The original poster might want to have a quick look at this thread
  19. I guess the 2.5 was the V5 in the end? Awesome info. :)
  20. Yeah, thread on E38 at the moment? Doesn't sound good that they're corroding already, how is the rest of the wheel looking?
  21. If your under bonnet temperature is too high, it switches the fan on. (try earthing the wire to it to see what happens) The idea is that it keeps the fuel lines cool, so the fuel doesn't vapourise and cause starting issues.
  22. It's a temp sensor, for the run on fan on the 16vs I believe. I can't quite make your picture out properly though.
