  1. LOL... IIRC there is a dude on here with a Storm thats puts out 220+ with Schrick 268's  Vag-Hag's car does 220ish with the schimmel 263 cams and a remap.
  2. G60 engines seem to hold their value more than the others, I guess John is about right, you'll probably be looking at £500-£700 for a decent engine and the bits to fit it. Allow 2 days for fitting, so about 14 hours in a garage, so about £700 for that. £1200-£1500 to get it up and running again, if you get a garage to do the work. I don't think you're likely to sell the car for much as a non-runner, I certainly wouldn't pay much, as whoever ends up with it will have to fit an engine of thier choice, again, costing a lot of money. You could strip it and sell the parts, the G-Lader will be worth a few quid, as will the interior and a few of the panels. But the majority of the shell will probably have to be scrapped, and with the global downturn, you'll have to pay to have that gotten rid of. You'll probably get £1500 for the parts, if you're lucky and after a lot of work. Basically, welcome to Broke town, population you.
  3. The compensator needs adjusting when the car is lowered. If you check it with the car at standard height, and try to reset the compensator to this setting when the car is lowered. Off the top of my head you want the spring just starting to be under load when the car is on the ground. That sounds like knackered rear bushes.

    Car Tax

I think as they're for my own personal use it's better not too.
  5. What do you mean handle pins? The hook shaped pins that operate the locks? or the pins in the B pillar that the door locks too?
  6. The timing chain kit looks fine. I'd go for the Shricks, people seem to have gotten very good results for them. For what it's worth, the shrick cams have a slightly greater lift, slightly more duration (263 degrees vs 262) and same lobe centres, technically giving about 2 degrees more overlap, but I don't know what the actual ramp rates are on the cams.

    am i leaking

Think it's oil from your rocker cover. I assume it's not petrol from the fuel lines... Try tightening the rocker cover bolts, ultimately you could do with a new rocker cover gasket.
  8. Its a repost from recently. It's a complilation of several adverts, a lot of the scenes are Australian, hence looking British.
  9. You need to tie in the vacuum pipe going to the carbon canister at some point. I also wouldn't just fit a filter there, as any oil build up will slowly drip onto the exhaust manifold, which won't smell nice. If you really want, fit a catch tank somewhere else in the engine bay. Personally I wouldn't bother, I don't think you gain anything from the power rohr.

    Late Black G60

Supercharged had the same happen I believe. The aluminium collars are awful for it...
  11. Think it's a 9mm hex on the top around the adjuster, so you can use a normal socket.
  12. I just googled "H&R 35865" That was the only hit though. How about the H&R UK website?

Is corrola_sunderland in prison for car tax evasion yet? He's not enthralled us for what feels like ages.

    BRAKES 16v to G60 ?

Late Golf VR6s had 288mm brakes, corrado vr6s had 280mms, the same as the g60. Early golf VR6 and GTIs had 280mm disks brakes too.
  15. There is supposed to be a plastic ring with the pin to do up. I think it might be missing. The pin doesn't go into anything it just goes through the boot skin and clamps up with a ring on the threaded section. i'll find a pic. Here it is. There's a plastic threaded plate for it to screw into.
  16. I think anyway... might be the other way round.
  17. Take the ring off, put the pin into the boot skin. and push through the hole, then put the ring on the pin and tighten it up.

    BRAKES 16v to G60 ?

Eh? The calipers are of a similar construction, but the 16v ones don't give enough clearance without, as mr Supercharged says a bit of sanding. I'd go with a full G60/VR6 setup to keep things simple. The VR6 calipers and carriers are the same as G60 units.
  19. I don't think he needs enough of it really, unless he wants to resell the car? I forgot tht stu had the badcrumble still. Wack me a PM about the arch, I'm sure we can arrange something.
  20. I hate the "scene" and all the bollocks that goes with it. Well, I say that, but I actually hate the stupidity behind it. The countless stretched tyre threads, how low you can get your car, $hit, dangerous advice on how to cut springs to lower your car for free are all bad enough, but the sheep like fanboy tw@ts who insist on flaming anyone who questions the scene twerps really gets my goat. I find it really frustrating how narrow minded things are, people will happily tear into other marques of car just because their peers don't think that they're "cool", and ohers that regurgitate the same old nonsense that "someone said on the internet" without thinking about what they're saying, or even understanding what they're on about. Sometimes it frustrates me to the point where I want to go out and build a proper car myself, something to stick 2 fingers up at all the tossers. Then I remember I'm far too lazy to finish a fairly standard car. :) Having said that, there is the occasional thread on E38 that is quite inspiring (turbo Audi 200 estate etc), but I try to avoid it unless everywhere else is quiet.
  21. Pretty sure he is. There's a lot of pipework to and from the FMIC though.
  22. There's a slightly different shot of it in last years calender.
