    Window stuck open

    Just the circular grille.
  2. Mine makes a very funny noise from cold (don't think it was too bad when you were with me) but it's the idler on the water pump pully being knackered. Really need to get round to welding it on solidly.
  3. My Ex-Housemate's Jetta GTI used to blow all the coolant out with distressing regularity, I swapped the stat for a genuine VAG one, and while they seemed to work similarly in the saucepan, it seemed to sort the issue out straightaway.
  4. Nah, 1 for left dipped and 1 for right dipped, and 1 for left and right full beam
  5. I did tell you... Hehe. Fair enough, good to make sure by swapping parts. Change the thermostat just for peace of mind, it's not a huge amount of time or effort to be honest. Mind you, it's pretty cold out, so the rad temp should be held fairly low while driving. Did you ever use Eric's thermometer?
  6. Might be worth going for a decent run to see if that clears the moisture buildup. The pressures are pretty consistent, so I would assume that a head gasket issue isn't that likely.
  7. You can do it in situ, well, the crack pipe is a mare to do without the front off, but the stat housing can be done. Remove the engine end plastic and coilpack to help get more room.

    Window stuck open

As Phil says, there's a screw in the speaker surround, pull the grill off and (it sounds liek you have a late car) there will be a screw facing forward at the front of the grille, off the top of my head. A good second hand mech would probably be your best bet, just grease it well before refitting, including taking the coverplate off the motor. and repacking the cable spool with grease. The white grease used when it was built will have dried up by now. You main problem will be removing and refitting the mech. There are a few guides on here, but you need an assistant, and electric drill and rivets with a rivet gun.

    Window stuck open

My window stuck part way open when the cable snapped. Then it fell completely open and had to have a stick jammed under it to hold it closed. The cables tangled up in the motor so it couldn't go forward or back.
  10. I'd go genuine VW on top mounts as the 3rd party ones don't last. I think there are 2 types of mount, and you need the latest sort, plus bearings. There is a front and rear engine mount, and a rear gearbox mount. I used a mk2 desiel gearbox mount from GSF as they are fairly highly rated for this job. The other 2 I'd get genuine though. Not going to be very cheap I'm afraid. You'll need to fit them and start the engine with the bolts loose so the bounts can settle into the correct positions before finally tightening them up.
  11. Pi springs are fairly highly rated by a few people. Dave is test driving mine (I think) so you could see what he thinks about them.
  12. I was thinking about these the other day, was sat outside the bank when a brand new DB9 parked up next to me. Absolutely stunning :luvlove:
  13. The long runners are to improve torque on N/A engines, you don't need that on forced induction, plus, the throttle body is closer to the inlet ports so throttle response is improved. Short runners also help in some inlet piping routings esp where you have a FMIC.
  14. The turd is in the post. ;)

    2ltr 16v Radiator

I've bought pattern radiators from a specialist radiator supplier in the past and they've been fine. Very bad move my friend. Next time, use the search. I know you're trying to be helpful, but that comes across as horrifically condescending.
  17. Rings were £130ish I believe. That's all I picked up.
  18. I had a similar experiance last night. Over the weekend I was in heavy traffic driving through Winchester when I saw a Honda Civic in front of me pull into a Petrol station, shoot across the forecourt and out the exit, just to get a couple of cars ahead in the queue. :nono:
  19. Our work car park is tacked on the side of the park and ride, and we get free passes for the park and ride buses, my usual office is only 10 mins walk from the car park, so I bumble aimlessly between the two. Last week when it was p!ssing it down, I happened to be walking along as a builder working on the new homeless accomodation place () next to the carpark came flying up and parked on our side of the road, in doing this he hit a load of puddles near the kerb, luckily missing me, but splashing the girl walking along behind me. I wasn't best impressed with this and went back and confronted him (calmly), as I felt he'd been a total and utter pillock and unneccessarily soaked the girl. He didn't seem to know what I was on about, claimed that there were puddles everywhere, and that he was doing a perfectly reasonable speed. I pretty much gave up at this point, and carried on my way. Hopefully he'll think twice next time, but I seriously doubt it.
  20. One lad I know has been very unlucky this year with 3 big crashes none of which has been his fault, one nearly killing a biker, and one where he ended up sat on a audi cabrio bonnet in his tractor with the occupants looking up into the underside of the tractor.
  21. I would be surprised if there was 20 corrado builds with either R32 or 24v, I can think of a few finished, and several underway, but there aren't that many about. Off the top of my head, there's 2 or 3 finished, about 6 underway, and 2 with engines bought but no spanners touched, and a couple looking to source engines.
  22. oooof. That looks/sounds nasty. I've been lucky in the past, and hopefully drive far more cautiously now. There are a lot of morons out there though. Most recently I've noticed a lot of people in new cars running me off the road... :(
  23. I got them from my local engine builder, Owslebury crankshafts.
  24. I think there is a thread on here with pictures of it in a Dyke.
