  1. The 115 number was just for a lens Dom. CTW's numbers matched what I looked up, when I was looking at the correct side of the road.
  2. Mine rattles loudly at idle. And it was actually Colin who told me about the solid pully, probably should have credited him a bit sooner.
  3. Indeed, that's a good point. Meant to mention how easily the VR takes FI too. Can't you throw 8psi at it without needing a spacer?
  4. The VR6 is a good engine and takes a lot of abuse, seems to get a bad name for some reason. It's a big capacity engine in a small space. They'll do 150k without much work, chains and tensioners are focused on probably slightly unfairly. The 4 cylinder engines are very good and will see hundreds of thousands of miles without much attention. The 2l 16v is pretty much a bored out 1.8 block, with a few alterations. All of the engines will suffer from oil ingestion when the stem seals and valve guides go, and therefore typically need top end rebuilds. This is all dependant on how the engines are treated, what sort of oil etc and to an extent, luck...
  5. Nope. Check the knowledgebase for a definitive list of ratios. My valver was still pulling at 130 the other day, so I'd expect a good 135-140mph
  6. Not for hub bolts... 3/4 drive is bloody handy. However I do think there are a total of 4 nuts/bolts on a rado big enough for a 3/4 drive.
  7. Right. The inner pulley isn't on a clutch or anything like that. It's simply an idler. The outer smaller(iirc) pulley drives the pump direct. The idler mech wears and clatters and is shite, so it can be replaced with the solid pulley arrangement from a golf apparently. The rotation speeds aren't *that* different, and the added wear on the belts can be lived with, I would imagine. You could weld the pulleys together, but they look pretty knackered now you've been mangling them.
  8. I've got lupos on the 16v and they've been good.
  9. I think they are rated quite highly in other circles.
  10. Tell her I won't mind if she uses gloves the first time.
  11. Have you told your mum about our deal yet? Oh, and no worries. Nice feeling to see it scurrying around Germany.
  12. It did seem to take a lot longer to start and do the work, and seemed to swallow a huge amount of parts and cash. And I wasn't probably in the best mood during the process, but, it is lovely and smooth and new feeling now, and I think (hope?) well worth it. Looking forward to getting mine to that state. :)
  13. Nice package. Just been admiring Judiths one. You up to much this weekend?
  14. Indeed. Just leave the tip poking out for people who know what they're looking at...
  15. I'm sure it'll slot in perfectly. Was just saying how neatly packaged it is, for such an impressive item. Considering how nice it looks, it's a shame you can't really display it.
  16. No worries... I know that it wil give you a lot of satisfaction, not least of all when you've got your hand in the back making it sparkle. Just glad you were able to get your hands on one just as you needed it.
  17. :) I know what it is... It's big and shiny and makes a rumble rather than a tinny vibration and there aren't many around any more.
  18. That's not a bad price really. Swap rear engine mount as it will be a lot easier with it all in bits. Get mk4 style solid plastic upper tensioner and bolt. New cam position sensor (if it's a coilpack car) Main crank oil seal (imagine that's included in the price)
  19. I really liked the alpine in my vr. Not that that comment helps whatsoever. ;) Trying to think up No.2 jokes now. :)
  20. Ooooh. The sunset pics look amazing. When you write it all down the work makes a very comprehensive list!
  21. Nah, the surface of the paint is nasty. Scratch X doesn't touch it. :(
  22. Cheers. Monochrome ftw. With some shiny alloy bits here and there too.
