  1. Cool, nice to see you making progress. :)
  2. Ummm, some of them? Lol Not 100% of the top of my head. They tended to have the door opeing button in the bottom of the mirror though,
  3. Don't write the 1.8 16v off. Group 15 insurance, and the fueling is the less complicated K-Jet system. They aren't cheap to run, they can be a pain in the arse, ut they will make you smile. :)
  4. Yup, Jim has taken over editorship....
  5. TVRs use rado mirrors... :)
  6. The grommets are definitely available. I bought some the other day, they're used on loads of cars...
  7. On earlier VRs you have to remove the gearbox brace. Take the gearbox mount bolt out and remove the 2 17mm bolts through the bracket and lift it out, then there is enough space to pull the clutch slave out. Removing part of the shift tower can also help.

    OIl line price?

I would try agricultural dealers too. Many of them can crimp ends on hydraulic hose....
  9. Tow bars = 8) I don't think there is a kit that you can remove easily. You could have 2 rear bumpers you swapped around?? Still a bit of a PITA though. Electrics will be a requirement. I would buy a section of the 7 core cable, and the plug along with some spade connectors and make your own loom. The spades push in the back of the standard light units, which is a pretty shonkey arrangement TBH.
  10. The areas all highlighted are common for giving you problems. Check it when it's cold first thing in the morning, and when it's warm. Also try sticking a sheet of cardboard under the car to see if any drips make it onto it. The flange on the end of the head often leaves coolant on top of the gearbox.
  11. Not in my eyes... Sorry, but if Rob_B got the contact details through that site, then he's right to feel agrieved by it, whether people have apparently moved on or not. Can the people running the site currently not try to help get a resolution as a good will gesture, and perhaps to help improve the name of thier site??? Jon, you were pretty annoyed about being messed around and losing your £50 deposit on some wheels recently weren't you? You must have an idea of how this guy feels...
  12. Are the reflectors not available through the dealer? Some of ARZ's prices are higher than dealer prices for readily available items.
  13. 'MAF', you mean MFA? the main problem with these things is the speed reading, VW's of this age tend to over-read by a fair amount so the MFA always seems more optimistic than actual consumption, over 400 miles mine is usually pretty accurate if you knock 2 mpg of the MFA reading, even though the VR6 uses the ECU mapping rather than the manifold pressure as the 16v's do, the speedos still over-read giving the same sort of error in calcualtions. What I really need is a longer legged 5th, might do the diesel 5th cog at some point. Yeah  I wouldn't want to make 5th much higher, perhaps throw a higher geared 6th ration in though?
  14. I quite like them as they are. The matter the paint the better, no to bandying too.

    pas pump

There are 2 pipe fittings into the pump and about 4 or 5 13mm bolts from all sorts of wonderous angles. Undo the pulley bolts before removing any belts then have a crack at the pipe fittings before working your way around the pulley to bracket bolts. There is one in particulat that it well hidden and needs a small socket and extension to reach. Main problem will be finding the right sized spanner for the pipe fittings. Think it's probably around a 24mm. Your PAS fluid will escape during this, so you'll need to bleed the pump according to instructions found on here.
  16. Dunno on price, not a lot of money I wouldn't imagine, but I'd get them to do it before getting your new valves lapped in.
  17. :( Balls. Was your head pressure tested? I wonder if there's a crack allowing coolant into a cylinder?
  18. :) Great. You even want me to leave my "special tool" at home? ;)
  19. My VR returned about 30, the 16v varies massively, 27mpg on moderately enthusiastic runs, and I just saw 37.2 on my 10 mile run home. The MAF seems pretty accurate at the moment too. Long term it's returning 33mpg.
  20. I'll throw some tools in my boot, but I hope not! This weekend is the last I'm spending on corrados, I'm exhausted, and seem to be going a little bit mental. :( Glad she's behaving, and that you're happy.

    3 month detail!

He got the hubs resprayed due to a brown spot. Surely it's only visible with the wheels off? The bloke is clearly a mental. I wonder how much it cost him to adjust it and polish it? The bloke who custom made the chrome boxes under the bonnet must have had a mare!
  22. I like the steelies, look good against the blue. Might be able to have a poke around her next weekend ;) Everything good on the car otherwise?
  23. She's quite hot too... :) Looks nice, the nugget and the black next to each other...
  24. Have we had the standard reply of "Sticky Danish-Pastrie's Brother owns a corrado" yet? I can't be bothered to read back through the posts.
