  1. 5th gear leaves me angry. All the presenters apart from VPL wind me right up.
  2. I'd look at the paint too, any metal in it will soon start to rust and look plop. :( I can do you a pair of windows. Tell him they're £100 for the pair, but we'll work out a proper price.... Lol.
  3. Can't remember who was running that group buy, might be worth asking around though...
  4. Mmmmm.....the shards are embedded in the glass and there are cracks around them...not sure that'll clay out...or am i wrong? No you won't, they all melt in... :(
  5. Isn't LM reps somethign to do with the forum group buy? I thought Deviant knew the bloke or something?
  6. I am thinking GT28 too, there won't be a great deal of room down the back of the engine, but you could always try rotating the turbo or in what might be a slightly different step, try tipping the engine slightly forward to make more clearance, maybe drop the front mount a touch?
  7. Nice Hedgehog. Did you touch it? they're usually covered in fleas and ticks :( Car running nicely now?
  8. The KR does, I can't remember about the 9A though.
  9. Have you filled it with coolant yet? Just wondering as it'll start to get awfully hot in places if you run it without, and also the ECU picks the temp up from a coolant sensor, so if there's no coolant it'll think it's still at 23 degrees or something and the engine will still be on the cold start map and be over fueling, hence the smoke perhaps?

    Glass sunroof

Passat estate roof is a close fit. Best to fit a complete unit from the passat though to be honest, aim to get a similar age pasat to your car as the frames differ with age, as I found out to my cost this week :(
  11. It would give you a pretty good idea. Shame I'm not closer or I'd pop over with the laptop. Think Corozin might have VagCom and he's a local....
  12. :) Great to see you finally got one. Shame you couldn't find a nugget, but nevermind eh??
  13. The fitting on the solid line should rotate. If it's seized try giving it a sharp wack with a punch on one flat, soak in WD40 etc, remove the spring clip with a pair of pliers etc and clean it up with a wire brush. A further wack with a punch might be required. :)

    Wiper fault!?!?

It's either 19 or 99 depending on the age of your car :)
  15. Replace Engine and gearbox mounts, wishbones, tie rods, ball joints. Remove subframe, rad surround and front cross member, shot blast, respray and coat with waxoyl/equivalent. Remove rust from and respray battery tray. Consider replacing brake lines while engine is out. Start otter uber-race breeding program. The rest of your list looks ok. Flywheel should be fine still, unless you want to swap for lightened unit. Chains, tensioners etc are worth doing while you've got it in bits, and crank main oil seal. Fit a mocal, replace crack pipe, paint block. ARP is a brand.
  16. Read 'gimp'. The clutch shouldn't have been affected by moving the gear selection. Oh well, some cars are just cack, luck of the draw I'm afraid.
  17. Am I about to get banned??? :(
  18. A few ARB's, strut braces and seam welded subframe will soon sort that out. You obviously havent been in Kevs car, i cant see just any modern car with a bit of poke beating that, would need to be M3/RS4/Porsche territory imo! Independant rear suspension is in a completely different ball park to solid rear axles no matter what springy bits you attach to them, I'm afraid. That's not a slight on Kevs car, just physics...
  19. Mud and cack builds up between the metal panel and the rubber "boot" in the filler neck I believe. It's not the tank more ther rear quarter that suffers.
  20. The bottoms of the wings do rot out on some cars. Filler necks can go, front ends get stone chipped. As Walesy says, the panel with the number plate lights below the spoiler does rust. Battery trays rust away also.
  21. New Forum quote. :D[/quote:sznlxce5] Buy a 16v, don't become a sheep, more like.... Indeed! And most of them have 100k + on them which helps soften them up even more.
  22. :) i though about that, and about getting the gas in to heat and bend it. Don't forget that part of the roof needs to be water tight, or you'll get an extra shower on wet days.
  23. I was thinking about PMing you last night Colin, as I'd remembered you were doing a similar swap and were most likely to have a similar issue. I did wonder about trying to extend the drive cog away from the casing and making a spacer can't see how to do that. I'm pretty sure you're spot on there, but I don't want to lose the one touch malarky. :( I'm going to have a snuffle around the local scrappy for a late moonroof I think, easiest option, sell this one to pay for the new.
