  1. Yeah, dunno if I can get an early shape motor with the late wiring connection though?
  2. Hmmm. Looks like late motors are indeed larger, and it seems that the late panels should have an indent for the motor. Balls. Looks like I need to track a late panel down. :(
  3. I think you'll struggle a bit. All of the car designs are getting on for 10 years newer :( There's gonna be a big difference down to the drivers though.
  4. Good evening. Fitted a passat moonroof into my late VR tonight, problem is that the motor doesn't fit. The cross section of the moonroof channel is shown below, the motor is shaped so the drive gear fits into the slot marked A, then the actual motor is supposed to fit in the wider section starting at B. Sunroof.jpg[/attachment:ecr8ek9s] My late motor is too short between A and B. I did wonder about cutting part of the channel out, and filling the hole with fibreglass, or adusting the motor with an angle grinder. Don't really want to do either though. It would seem early motors are longer between A and B, but the wiring is wrong. Will a passat motor fit the later corrado wiring loom? (6 pin)
  5. There is a metal plate on the top of the spring that the shock fits under. It's rusted away and the shock has pushed through.

    vr water temp

Has Mike got VagCom or something? Get him to plug it in and go for a drive with the measuring blocks showing, you'll be able to see the temp that the ECU sees from a different sender, which might be different to the one for the gauge.
  7. My valver starts on 3 regularly when it's warm, bit of a pain in the arse now. :( I fitted new injectors a while back, but I think it's probably an HT lead playing up. Try turning the ignition on and off a couple of times to get the pressure up in the metering head and fuel lines, see if that makes a difference... Those fuel lines shouldn't be too bad. soak themin plus gas etc for a few days before chaning them. Mine came undone fairly easily.

    KR/9a hybrid?

There's something to do with fueling in KE-Jet along the lines of shutting the fuel off on over run so it doesn't damage the cat, K Jet doesn't. I think you'll kill the cat, and fail your emissions. Better off buying an earlier car that doesn't need a cat and putting the 9A block in.
  9. Think they look better in black tbh...

    H36 VDM

Looks nice. :) Didn't sell in the end then?
  11. Love the new sig :) The cam to cam timing on the valvers is a bit rubbish isn't it?
  12. You're in for a steep learning curve then Rob, I'd be in no hurry to get a welder out and start faffing with panels. I'm going to try a bit of pulling dents and filling, but I don't expect a brilliant, long lasting repair. if you look closely nr you carbon canister hole you'll see 'hecho en mexico' on your corrado... :) I love that stamp
  13. Cool. Pretty sure it shouldn't be there. be interesting to see if it's some other part though.
  14. Ebay Supercharger? Got some pics? What engine have you got?
  15.   I really don't like them either, best thing is the passenger one fell off when the car moved!!! I think they are fecking cool!
  16. No, but I imagine your bum would get pretty sore... See if you can get a ride in a couple of cars with different setups, what some people think is acceptable isn't what others do, might convince you to save a few hundred more.
  17. It looks like the mk4 and mk5 were mating and their child put a scirroco mask on. There were some Lotus Sunbeams at the Prescott hill climb, :luvlove: , don't think there were any mk1s....
  18. Looks stunning. Get a pic up in the forum calender competition.....
  19. They look cool... bet you had them for less that £10 knowing you.
  20. Sorry, had to do some actual work today :( You might have to explain that concept to vwdeviant   I like those wheels...
  21. Is the exhaust getting hotter than usual? Is the ignition timing ok?
  22. Finally someone did it!
  23. That sensor is not really there to cool the water, it's actually to keep the fuel lines cool so you don't get starting issues when you've parked up and it's hot. Hence it's position on the head. I'd try to replace it if it were missing on mine.
  24. Lol, yeah, but I didn't want to panic John at all... ;) That's why I far prefer doing the timing with the flywheel and lower cover off. you can set the timing on all 4 shafts in one go, no fiddling around trying to spot the flywheel or serpentine pulley marks. Especially on a car with slightly stretched chains. I didn't get a chance to look at the car again today, was a bit busier than I had imagined. :( Next weekend I'll give it a good ferreting over though :)
  25. slide the tank off it's bracket, get a pair of adjustable pivot jaw plier/wrench things, put a bit of rag around the sides of the bracket to prevent damaging the paint and squeeze it together a bit. you can then sit the rectangular reservoir a bit higher in it's bracket and the shift weight clears, I can't see any reason why having the tank slightly higher 10-20mm should make any difference to the supply of fluid or it's level. Beats changing all the hoses and tank over from a later car. That's what I did with mine, seems ok to me. I guess you've realised already, but the later units come with slightly different pipework. I'm sure Stu will have his left, or if not, I've got the complete set, that is if Ebay doesn't come to fruition.
