Do certain car brands/makes attract a certain kind of person
Toad replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
A lot of people don't care what car they drive. Saying that I've met a lot of similarly minded individuals on here. Do corrados = innapropriacy? -
It's an extension as the cats are different legnths I believe.

those shorts, lordy lordy....makes me feel dirty just thinking about it Gav We forgot to tell him about the swingers program featuring his shorts on the telly after he went to bed! :norty:

They're shrick 268s. I set the timing, not sure which smiley is appropriate here.... I fitted the chains, the upper chain cover and tensioner and turned the engine over by hand several times making sure the timing all lined up. When I was satisfied, we refitted the covers along with sealant etc, put the gearbox back on, refitted engine and span it over on the starter with no plugs for a while. I would assume that the late style tensioners would make the timing less likely to jump with the spring loading? Anyway, I'm quite happy to check the timing again. i'd also like to give the senors a good going over, and see if any error codes are making a difference. Will be interesting to see it's mpg on a decent motorway run too.

That car was horrible, absolutely disgusting. Those wheels were one of the most offensive things I've ever seen.
-
Do you struggle when it's hot? How's reverse?
-
If you can make it down on Sunday I'll chuck vag com on and see if there is anything funny with any sensors. Seems a bit odd to be that much lower on fuel economy.

I've got a 9A coil and amplifier lying around at home, didn't look immeditely obvous how it came apart. Yours for £25 plus postage though.

Use the search, or just browse the engine bay section, it's been covered before.

Keeping low on fuel for better performance ?
Toad replied to shawshankkid's topic in General Car Chat
The main pump actually sits inside a plastic "bucket" which is filled by a small lift pump (though they're both in the same assembly). The small pump is happy to cope with the fuel level outside dropping right down and running dry, that's what it's designed for, at least for short periods of time. The main pump therefore sits in about 1 litre of fuel at ALL TIMES, no matter what the fuel level in your tank. Running the car with low fuel does nothing but risk you running out somewhere embarrassing, on the whole .. The VR pump is in a bucket.... the 16v is different. Why does everyone forget the proper corrados???? ;) -
Keeping low on fuel for better performance ?
Toad replied to shawshankkid's topic in General Car Chat
i thought the fuel pump was cooled by the fuel, and so by running it with very little fuel it would tend to run hotter, leading to quicker failure? Anyway, I fill mine up to the top when it's empty. I think a myriad of corrado spares and tools in the boot have just as much effect as the fuel level. -
who was that taken a photo of my car at M4 services???
Toad replied to Chris Langdon's topic in General Car Chat
It wasn't me. I also don't own a storm, nor was I on the M4. Thanks. -
It means you can go for 1 x 180 degree turn or 2 x 90 degree turns. go for 2x90, it's fooking tight!

You won't be buying those parts for another 50 odd thousand miles either...

The one in the middle  Lol. I did think about posting that myself actually....

I've lost the ability to form coherent sentances without thinking long and hard tonight.

The engine needs to rotate a certain number of times before the ecu recognises the crank and cam sensor positions. MrBeige told me that.

Msn me up Danger... I need to find out what bits you need....

*ROLL UP ROLL UP* Guess the weight of a VR6 Timing Chain Kit
Toad replied to mariojoshi's topic in Engine Bay
It's only really the chains, bolt and lower tensioner that weigh anything. The tensioner bolt is 27mm and fairly hefty, hence the weight. -
I have had the tyre wear you describe, and the local 4 wheel lazer place never picked any thing up. I've also noticed it on a wheel I've borrowed, has your car been stood for a long time at all?
-
You don't want those bits off me then gimp??? ;) Shame to see her go PJ, but I'm sure you'll be snuffling back around soon enough. Good luck selling it.

Have you bled the ABS pump and master cylinder? They make a massive difference. if you have.... Try standing hard on the brake peddle and get a chum to crack a nipple open, that might help move the air. The bias valve is right up when it's fully open... basically the way the spring pulls it. The air might work its way out the pipes overnight too. Whatever happens, get it fixed so we can start on the box early Saturday ;)

VR Idle hunting 11-1500 rpm + hesitation whenwarm(Now FIXED)
Toad replied to Andy T's topic in Engine Bay
Try the search mate, click on Advanced search, then type your criteria into the search box with a + if you want to include a term, and a - if you want to exclude somethine. I'd go for something like +vr6 +idle +hunt I click topics rather than posts, and off you trot... This is a subject that's been covered a lot. :) -
Yup! Try an independant engine remanufacturers for cheaper prices. I picked up a complete set from Owslebury crankshafts in Winchester for £120 last year.

I'm definitely interested....
