  1. Might think of it as an air cooled clutch if its meant to be like that, seems weird to me though.
  2. i tried to ordered the part from VW and it turned out to be a rubber sleeve
  3. Do you know a torque for the 3 bolts on front cross member with the 4 bushes. Car looks amazing btw Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk 2
  4. Yeah I am not too sure about it, if I went through some deep water, surely water would get in. Might cut a plate to cover the hole and sandwich it between sump and gearbox. Also whats the plastic plug for in the second photo. Do I remove that or leave it on? Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk 2
  5. Took the little cover out the way and sump fitted, but am left with holes, where i can put my finger in and touch the flywheel? Any ideas? Might put the old one back on
  6. thats what i was thinking, but the manual and this post says it closes at 105c, which i reckon must be a typo or something
  7. Still looking if anyone could help. thanks
  8. Not read all the thread, but been reading Dom's bit. My thermostat opens at about 85c, nothing to worry about, but whats this closing bit about? Can't see mine closing or even how its meant to close once its heated up and it seems to be done with a spring that warms up and goes soft. As long as it opens i should be ok shouldn't i?
  9. Trying to fit my 24v baffled sump from the group buy and it interferes with the little guard on gearbox side. Am i meant to remove the guard? surely crap will get in the flywheel/clutch area as i took it off and it leaves a gap
  10. How much do the porsche parts cost? I imagine a headlight and wiring will be the price of a corrado
  11. Not had my engine running yet, but got them all fitted. I like a bit of vibration, helps my dinner go down :)
  12. yeah i wouldn't mention you repaired it, as part of the goods act is them offering the chance to repair it.
  13. I am sure your well within your rights to return it, read up on the sales of goods act, i've used it quite a few times for phones etc I find its whoever gets the most stubborn about things usually wins, Of course their first port of call is to try and fob the customer off. I sometimes go to the people who make the product and explain what has occured with the seller, and it goes from there.
  14. Just got back from VW, was 3 of them looking at it and came to the conculsion its whoever pressed the bearing in that has done it :( They have used the wrong press. Vw took the whole hub assembly off me and are going to see what they can do with it, waiting for their call. Which is good of them. I was all prepared to just fork out and buy a new bearing and hub, i asked 3 times to order one but they talked me out of it
  15. No there isn't any marks on it at all. Am starting to think it came like this from VW, i think if the garage did it, it must of been pretty hard to get something into the hole and back out again without marking it elsewhere. Am driving over to VW at lunch time to see what they say, i hope they take it off me and fit all new bits and give it back free of charge, but its a big hope
  16. Really a bit angry at the moment, gone to fit my driveshaft to my brand new hub and it wouldn't fit, did the other side and it just slid on easily. Thought i'd recheck the new one and noticed the splines seem flattened off inside, which is the exact point the cv joint stops going in. Am i meant to force it through? can't see that being right and refuse to hit it with a hammer incase i damage the hub. Tried to photo it. What i really need to know asap is: A) is it meant to be like that? unlikely imo B) Could it of been done by the garage who pressed bearings in? C) Could it of been like that new from VW? Going to go back to garage who fitted them and see what they say, then i will go to VW garage. Thing is, its a brand new bearing as well, so that needs to be destroyed to remove iirc Can see this all coming out of my pocket tbh ---------- Post added at 7:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:23 PM ---------- I 100% haven't done it as its from the wheel side, i.e: CV spline goes in ok, then stops at the point the splines change. I don't really know how they press in the bearings and if there's any risk of them damaging it like that during the process
  17. I've always had bad luck buying 2nd hand wheels so don't like buying them now, been put off :(
  18. I can go back and get some more if you want, think i got charged about £1 a bolt though, was about £8 for some glue and the three bolts
  19. I did notice emus one on ebay, am thinking repair is probably my cheapest option. Would be a shame to just bin my wings, the rust isn't all over them, just some edges and a bit of a hole at the bottom
  20. Might fit this belt and keep an eye on it then :) Yeah, thought i wasn't going to get them bolts off when they all started rounding, but mangled a different shape tool in there and managed to undo them. Just been and found some stainless ones to replace them.
  21. Not really got the time to hang about for some rust free ones, then will have to go look at them etc @Rob, i'll get some pics of them, sounds good. I was going to have my mate do it, but i'm not too confident in his welding skills and the wings are pretty important, wouldn't mind if it was my 2nd car, but not risking it on the rado.

I found them ok, but they wouldn't accept my standard corrado alarm, and said i'm not insured if it gets stolen as the alarm/immob is too old now. I'd been with them for 7yrs up until then, they messed me about with it so i left
  23. Late VR6 car. My front wings have rust around the lip, i took them to a local place and the chap said one wing would be 4hrs the other 3hrs work, £40 a hour. Thats just to repair/weld the missing parts, not paint. iirc VW don't sell the wings anymore and i'm not too confident buying 2nd hand ones as mine looked like "minor rust" until you attacked it properly. What are my options?
  24. I hoping i can avoid VW and find some bolts at a local shop, will find out tomorrow. As for the pipes, i rang Roose and he wasn't much help, so tried revolution who you recommended and they had them, but came to £33 instead of £23.05, guy was a bit bonkers imo, making things up  Should get them tomorrow or thursday though :) ---------- Post added at 10:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ---------- I haven't looked at how it fits yet, but maybe its correct then. I got it off Pat_Mcrotch so quite confident he got the right thing.
  25. Done it now, found it quite a pig of a job, not got any bills to show its been changed before. Rounded the bolts for the pulley so got to replace them. And the only way i got water pump out of block was to remove crack pipe and hit it the water pump from that side. ---------- Post added at 9:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:55 PM ---------- Got a question. The aux belt i took off was ribbed both sides, the one i have to put back on is flat on one side? I have just removed aircon so know the belt is different, but thought it would only be shorter
