  1. aren't mk 4 golf calipers a banjo fitting, thats why you need the mk2-mk4 conversion kit. other than that i think all are the same screw in fitting that comes on the mk2, mk3 and corrado rear calipers

    HANDBRAKE TRIM

i've put double sided carpet tape on my lever then just pushed the trim on. Has worked a treat
  3. its basically this kit but with some extra bits http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/product_i ... cts_id=530
  4. @vwdeviant - I did have Nath come out and do the car, that was not long after i bought it, maybe two winters ago now he only machine polished the front corner of bumper where the dog had scratched it, i can't remember his reasoning for not doing the whole car, even though it has really bad hologramming down the sides, bonnet etc. It bugs me when the sun is out, as it looks really clean but lots of paint defects. @andy, i paid £151 delivered. almost got the megs G220 machine but seemed like your paying for the name. (i'll probably only use it a few times and it will sit in garage or go on ebay)
  5. well this little lot has arrived, give it a couple of weeks and i'll probably have a corrado in polished metal finish :|
  6. my makes a few buzzing noise after its locked, almost like its trying to lock itself again. i don't know how long this going on for but its every 10 or 20 secs, i walk away after a couple of times
  7. i prefer the standard lights with nice clean/new glass. the angel eyes look like they belong on a saxo or a corsa to me.
  8. nice job on the refurb btw 8) did you use hammerite?
  9. yeah thats fine, they are a bit corroded on the outside, but i'd say less so than the one in your pic. if you want to send the money the same as the other stuff i'll get it posted with the other bits asap the one in left box still has piston in it and the rubber boot is split as picture
  10. just to note, that i have the rear calipers too that i have removed the handbrake things and pins from. these are them, there were in the pile of stuff to be scrapped, but if they are any use to you, you can have them for free. The garage that removed them said they weren't seized and worked fine. Its just the rubber bits are perished etc. I removed one piston to check it out and it looks all good still. The only problem is they are quite heavy so may be expensive to post. I don't know how far away Oxford is from here?
  11. i fitted my TT wipers and blades and didn't cut, bend or grind anything, they almost fit straight on
  12. good stuff 8) although i prefer corrados near standard, its still good to see some heavily modified ones. top marks for commitment :salute:
  13. i've done lots of reading and watching videos etc, looks fairly straight forward especially with a dual action machine. i have a runaround car to practise on 1st. now the sun has come out i notice all the defects in my paint, i think it has been "mopped" (badly) before by a bodyshop after they painted a bit
  14. just ordered a kestrel polisher with the menzerna polishes and pads. thanks for the help Looks like i'll be having a weekend of polishing now :|
  15. 15"'s in the correct offset with VW recommended tyres :camp: i thought tramlining was caused by having wider, lower profile tyres?
  16. i just drive at what seems to me to be appropiate speeds for the roads, conditions and situation and i will continue to 8)
  17. what have you done to the reflector to refurb it?
  18. i didn't put mine back in the same way they came out, you have me worried now
  19. Am thinking of buying a machine polisher. I've now got to choose between the megs g220 or this Kestral one that like a cheaper alternative. Does anyone here use either machine? Is the Kestral one a Dual Action like the Megs?
  20. they have gone up about £100 since xmas then
  21. i've not looked at it since it went in, but i will check it out now you have said this. is it crusty corrosion or just stained?
  22. have you had the wishbones and rear axle powercoated or is that the standard VW coating? I found the VW paint doesn't last very long at all
  23. i've bought all the so called dent pullers and ding kings and none really work unless its a big dent done with a large round object, like a football, then the dent just pings out. if you had creases when the metal is tight then i'd left it to a pro
  24. yes the pistons are hollow, i think its just the pics i took are a trick of the eye, and i painted the inside of piston black so it might look solid. in the first pic the pistons are positioned with the open face down if you had the dust cover seal in place on the caliper but no piston the rubber cover would be flapping around and it would be obvious something was missing
  25. i had this problem too, randomally happened and i was stuck at work. i swapped to my spare key and never had a problem since, maybe they wear down. my ignition felt better with a new key
