  1. yeah i had that, its on the left hand side, i think you have to rotate it then pull it off i broke mine
  2. took me a while to spot the join, its quite smooth :cuckoo:
  3. i was wondering this, as i have the same front brakes to go on, but standard corrado rears, gsf list a 4 line set and a 6 line set for the mk3 golf if i buy that will the rears work on corrado calipers? is that basically the same as what you just asked?
  4. ahaa, i see, thanks for that. had to check before i took old one off as i know what my luck is like
  5. its not like any i've seen before, but never done oil filter myself on the corrado and not seen it  i guess its in some type of housing that you have to reuse?
  6. i've thought the same for a long time, fed up with watching clarkson drive like a knob around the same old bit of tarmac, the last one i watched there were no facts about the car, just "brakes as big as bin lids" and "tyres that could wrap around the world" the challenges are good, star in car has gotten boring, also there's too many supercars these days imo nothing seems impressive now (after the veyron, zonda) its just another tuned up merc, porsche or ferrari each week
  7. Air powered impact gun. Might struggle to get hold of one of those Ive just raided the Draper catalogue and found a 1/2" drive 7mm allen key socket and an extra deep offset 22mm spanner. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Ive also decided that payday = BIG tool box! didn't read that before i posted above  that will do it
  8. isn't there two types? i used a droplink spanner with a big drop, i think i borrowed one off a plumber and i bought an allen key set that fits into a socket and then rachet thing
  9. isn't there some air thingy that can pop like this? am no expert but am sure i heard of it happening
  10. that does look very nice indeed :D
  11. Just get some super resin on it mate, couple of layers followed by a good wax usually hides holograms for me :D have done loads of that routine etc, i think i have whats called buffer trails/hologramming? looks messy in the sunlight, can this sort of thing be cured with a machine polish? i think someone has had a go at it in the past
  12. i recentely went to peugeot after scraping a wall in the 306, got a small can of paint and laquer and it came out spot on, hard to tell its been sprayed, only the lazy prep lets its down, little pin holes etc
  13. i've always found halfords cans are darker than the actual colour they are meant to be, i always go to the dealers now the paint seems much better match, i have a good pic to illustrate this somewhere
  14. lovely, thanks. just ordered all the bits, including filter wrench.
  15. i never done the oil filter on mine, its always gone to a garage to be serviced. am going to try it myself, is there a tool that helps? think i'll just use a cheap semi now, the pro S didn't seem to change much
  16. so would i be better off finding a cheaper fully sythectic for now?
  17. i thought the 2nd number the 60w was the thickness/viscosity at operating temp? thanks for quick answers. so i can't mix a semi-synthectic with a fully synthectic?
  18. i just find out i have no oil left in garage and car needs topping up. Its a VR6, for past 6 months or so i've used the silkolene pro S, but can't spend £50 a go for 5l when i use quite a lot. should i get the castrol edge sport 10w/60 or just go back to something much cheaper, tbh i noticed no difference when using the silkolene over the VW silver stuff if i do get the edge sport will i be able to just top up with it? or do i need to get rid of all the silkolene stuff in engine first?
  19. for my rears i'm just getting standard corrado calipers and refurbing them, but want to fit new discs, pads and bearings at same time. the fronts will be the same as yours i think. do the front calipers clear the stick on wheel weights inside the rim?
  20. welcome, good choice of car 8) if i was buying again i doubt i'd look for an unmolested original again, unless the owner was the kind that replaced a lot of things. i would rather buy one that a enthusiast has owned and loved, can get some good deals at the moment. seems like an endless list of "things to do" i have
  21. great stuff mate, i going to try and get my brakes done this month, did you change rear discs? and did you get new bearing too on the rear? nice to see forum members helping out :! team work :D
  22. let us know if you do get one from ford etc, i'll be interested
  23. i might do that, are they definatley the same part?
  24. thats odd, the pic of the badgers works fine
  25. SNARF!!! is that the driveshaft snapped?
