  1. cheers guys for tips and part numbers i may just paint them red if chrome looks crap
  2. rear wheel bearing usually makes a groaning sound that gets noisier/quieter when changing direction as there are two bearing races, inner and outer, and it depends which one has the pitted surface. thats the other odd thing, this appears to be coming from the front, but i could be wrong
  3. nice one, thanks Nath is it safe to use a detergent/shampoo that you put in the pressure washer, mine has a bottle for it, just not sure what shampoo i have for it, it came with the washer, i'll find out what its called
  4. I finally got hold of all the badges for the car, front and rear, i'm thinking of spraying them, does anyone have any recommendations for the paint, i was thinking of going to a model shop and getting some chrome stuff. also whats the best way to mask them up as not all the lettering is coloured (might be tough to retain the black edge) and does anyone have the part number for the little blue bits that hold on the "corrado" badge?
  5. i really think mine is a bearing now, the grinding noise stopped and was replaced with a high pitch squeal that goes away with braking or changing direction
  6. Great thread @Nath, what would you recommend i use on mine to "top it up" (is that a phrase, i dunno?) but all i've done since you came, is to wash it with Meg's Gold Class shampoo/conditioner i been afraid to use any kinda products on it after as i don't want to bugger up the wax protection, not sure i really need to do much tbh, the water still falls off car and its looks great after a simple wash
  7. FOOK :! the roads i have to put up with are terrible aswell, sometimes i wonder if its worth having a semi decent car at all
  8. either a 1.0 diesel rover metro thing, kensington? i dunno or a pug 205 1.1 junior both suffered from not actually having any form of handling, and were terribly slow
  9. i'm quite lucky as i have a nice garage to work in, just need some better tools, i think i may start doing something simple and see how confident i get
  10. its funny you say that, as i tried an oil change on my last car and overtightened the sump nut and ripped the thread out of it  ended up costing alot more than it should of
  11. i really should of tinkered with my old car rather than learn on a corrado. but i wanna start replacing a lot of parts, not due to them being broken, just due to the 140,000miles most of these bits have done things like rear axle bushes front wishbone bushes ARB bushes whole wishbones brake lines Top mounts trailing arms Steering rack Track rod ends shocks ball joints just wondering how many of you work on your own car? as the above parts are pretty cheap to buy, is just the labour that costs a lot would you recommend someone without much knowledge to pick up the stuff, learn, read and try? fed up with large garage bills for stuff that to me seems like unbolting things and putting them on again
  12. well i have 15gallon tank, usually do 25mpg, that works out at 375miles to a tank some people are quoting figures that work out at 15mpg :!
  13. i might start buying some spanners and tackle some bits myself i think, ideally i would replace most of the suspension parts, i know top mounts, rear shocks and something else was changed by last owner
  14. i think mine is suffering from something like this. the last few days its felt very wandery (if thats a word), pulls over the road abit and kick skips sideways a tad over bumps/holes my last car felt the same, i think its the roads around here take their toll? how do i check these rear bushes?
  15. thats hot :! 120c i was worried when mine was hitting 112c
  16. I agree that they look 'fresher' i think the clear lights go better with my shiny wheels where as the tints make it looks a bit front heavy if that makes sense  me too, black wheels wouldn't suit it, i like the contrast of that colour and the bright rims/lights
  17. how many miles has it done, could just be wear on all the other components, not just shocks and springs
  18. i prefer clear lights, looks fresher, tinted does look a bit too "modified" for my likings
  19. have you made sure the ignition is one when you test it? i spent ages thinking i'd broke something the other day, then found out only one side seems to come on without the ignition
  20. i don't know what i'd do if i returned to my car and found it like that :! i dread to think, am gutted for you
  21. i had the same part go on mine a little while ago, cost under £100 but only took half a day to fix
  22. Hello and Welcome i'm not far from cambs
  23. the noise has gone away now???, when i took it to garage they took it for a drive and couldn't hear it, but noticed the disc/rust. i really have no clue about what to do to check the caliper out, i can take a wheel off
  24. i am 5-10mins drive into the countryside from Stansted airport, i usually just take car to a local garage, but sometimes i feel as if they can't be bothered :(
  25. i had some new pads put on it about 4000miles ago, not sure if its anything to do with that i have noticed a very slight knocking kinda noise from that side, can mainly hear it when in the car with windows shut i should really try and fix some of these things myself rather than keep paying garage :(
