  1. That's the abs pump. Its the teves20 setup from a more modern golf/passat. Does away with the rear brake valve.
  2. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=42898&highlight=header
  3. People often swap to the Mk4 golf header tank, the lid is easier to get off, its not too hard or expensive. There was a thread somewhere with the info in it.
  4. I replaced mine. Sometimes see them on eBay. Am sure good ones fit the rear but not totally sure.
  5. My original engine had the same noise but quite a bit worse, my neighbour would comment on it if he was outside. I put it down to the pistons etc. The 2nd engine i had didn't do it but had the tappy tick noise from the head. Am hoping with my new engine it will be nice and quiet, still using the 263 cams, but with every other bit of engine new so am hoping the top end is quiet. While stripping old engine down i did notice a tiny little bit of evidence of it blowing on engine manifold to block, which i've heard can make a tapping type noise. Was some brand new 2.8 blocks with pistons on ebay a while ago, not sure if any are left, but Vince and his lads thought it was a good deal/sensible choice.
  6. Just did the insurance on my daily with Chris Knott last week, Was with direct line and they couldn't beat the quote, plus was cheaper than go-compare came back with.
  7. Sprayed some stone chip on now, Just done the rear end of car as can't get to the front until axle is on and can roll car out of garage. Then made a start on cleaning up fuel lines and making the rear brake pipes. Ended up cleaning up an old heat shield as can't buy that one anymore. Should be able to plough on soon, just waiting for a few last bits.
  8. I had this and turned out to be the stalk.
  9. Just been cutting the old bits off which went well. How did you cut the new hose neatly? Am finding it a right pain to cut. Even tried dremel. Not made a cut I'm happy to use yet. Stopped before I wasted too much hose.
  10. That site looks great. Nice one. Will have to measure the original one but am sure one of the ones on there will work. Might do doors as well at that price.
  11. Cheers for the help, ordered 3m of that stuff in your link. Should get it tomorrow so will get it sorted over weekend.
  12. Did you use the PTFE hose with jubliee clips? I have the tool for those banded clamps where you squeeze it together, same as the cv boot clamps. If i cut the compression fitting off is there a raised bit on the rigid plastic pipe to help stop a jubilee coming off? Have replaced the ones under the engine bay before but they didn't have the compression fittings.
  13. Mine hasn't seemed to leak. Used a vw one the first two times but a Victor reins one this time. Haven't run engine yet though.
  14. Crimped fitting on hard line under car. Want to replace the rubber parts on this bit. Valve bit?
  15. Since I've done everything else I was looking at the fuel lines and thought they looked past it. The hard plastic ones that run under car are still ok. But where they join to fuel filter the rubber parts could do with replacing. I was hoping to just replace it with some new stuff but there are crimped joins onto the rigid plastic bits. Not sure how to remove them and then connect a rubber hose to it. Have seen people running a hard copper type pipe under the car instead of the plastic. Also one of the black hoses at rear of car had some sort of inline valve. Will try and get pics up to explain.
  16. Tell me about i must have all the sizes from that link I posted. I bought what I thought was right and nothe all of them fitted well enough. So bought all of them and tried each one.
  17. Am after the exhaust shield that sits over the middle box on a VR6, mine is too rotten to use See pic:
  18. Been to order today, They could only get one of them, The other part number he said was for a SEAT, which has left me confused as i used above numbers and also some from vagcat which were slightly different. Managed to get the £101.29 one. Might have to try and repair the other one. Also can't buy the brackets from rear axle that hold the brake pipe as it leaves the caliper.
  19. Been meaning to post it for a while, but wanted to be 100% sure i got it right so was going to fit engine and check them again. The list i have here seems to have 3 pipes connected to the bulkhead and i'm certain its only 2, so i've probably written something twice, Also in the diagram above the hose no19, (top rad hose) doesn't look right to me, should just be one thin hose coming off it, diagram shows the hose going to the header tank and then off to throttle body, but the diagram also shows another bit with hose clip no.32.
  20. Just put this together, Its mostly correct but noticed a few clips on the diagram that i'm not sure on. I did it all with engine and hoses in front of me, so will update when i fit engine properly. If i've put " I used these ones, although not tested them with engine running yet. http://www.hcl-clamping.co.uk/Rotor-Spring-Band-Hose-Clamp-Constant-Tension-P9
  21. i bought quite a few, i have test fitted them all and worked out all the sizes, but i need to write it all down. Might be able to do it today if i can find the list. Keep meaning to post it up.
  22. Bought mine from hcl clamping. They look plenty thick enough and similar to the originals.
  23. Will get the pics tomorrow for you
