  1. I have a bracket in the garage so will get a pic of it. Am about to go out there. magnex supplied a bracket with the systems but no one seems to have them. I got one from dave on here when he was making them.
  2. Struggling to remember where all the clips and brackets etc fit onto the rear beam and also the underbody. Have found a few photos and now worked out which is the top face! Got all my small fixings and clips muddled up so not sure what goes where and if I need any new ones etc. I remember snapping a few when I took them off.

    Abs

Was never sure what was wrong with my ABS, but everything did look old and cruddy when removed. I fitted the Teves20 system, does away with the rear brake compensator on the beam and the rears are individually controlled instead. It was a lot of work (people say its plug and play which makes it sound easy), you have to put wiring in from the pump under bonnet through the bulkhead and then behind the dash and onto the fusebox, then the wires going to the rear end. Plus you need to remake the copper/steel pipes. I only did it as engine was out, dash was out and rear beam off the car so made sense to do it.
  4. If i run out of toilet paper mid-wipe i have to waddle with my trousers and pants around my ankles over to the airing cupboard to get more paper, its only about 3 stepwaddles but some sort of device may help here. Maybe a bog roll store that's built into the wasted space around the bottom of toilet.

    Abs

Pump isn't too hard to get at, I've not much idea about the fault but outlet valve sounds like its part of the pump. It would involve disconnecting all the brake pipes from the pump (should be easy as long as the unions undo and aren't seized etc) ECU is easy to swap, it sits inside the passenger foot well and is just a block connector. I have just removed the complete ABS system from mine so do have spare pump and ECU, but ABS was never be connected up on mine since i bought it. It was unplugged and someone had cut the bulb out of the dash light unit. So couldn't say what condition my bits are in.
  6. Fitted my axle bushes at the weekend (with thanks to Jamiehamy for posting me the tool) Should start making proper progress soon as i'll be putting the car back together rather than taking it apart.
  7. You do need a custom rear bracket for the magnex.
  8. Yeah, i chucked mine in a cheap ultrasonic cleaner and then i find a wipe with wd40 brings lots of plastic/rubber bits looking nice again.
  9. Are the Roose ones just jubilee clips though?
  10. I'll try do it over the weekend, i have it all written down but intended to put it on a diagram
  11. Try and use spring clamps on them rather than jubilee clips, the jubilees seem to slacken off after a while and then you keep tightening them up and they start cutting into the hoses. I do have a list of all the correct sizes you need from a place called HCL Clamping, i just need to type it up.
  12. Nice one. All looks nice and clean. How come you kept with the original tensioner and bolt? The newer stuff is cheaper iirc
  13. yeah apply some pressure to the tensioner side. looking at my cam pickup sensor it looks as if the rear sprocket is a bit further clockwise than yours. do you have the cam locking plate in place? Are they new chains? i have no idea how you measure them for stretch though
  14. That's mine. Its standard new vw chains and related bits, the newer style tensioner and 263 cams. Although the cams shouldn't really change anything as it's the same sprockets. I did notice the new top chain was less slack than before. Mainly between the sprockets at the top. I noted it was sagging between them before.
  15. See the big channel worn out of top of pad, this was where the disc has rusted up
  16. I'm wondering about pads too, when i originally did the mk4 upgrade i though it was all fine, but when removing the rear brakes recently it seemed like something was wrong. The pad wasn't making proper contact with the disc and ended up with the discs rusting up.
  17. You need a kettle and a teaspoon for sure.
  18. Is one of the parts I've replaced early in case it happens.
  19. Might be me confusing it with the mk4 thing. Not sure why i call it that. I'm mixing it up with the rear brake upgrade lol
  20. Have heard of it happening before, i think its just a case of them getting old and brittle and not a problem with the engine.
  21. My wiring broke where the seat base meets the back, it runs in the little gap there, whenever i put seat forward it would blow the fuse. Also the wiring under the seat can be quite vulnerable. Worth checking.
  22. Think i have a new vw pad if you need one. Its the standard one not mk4 upgrade
