  1. Also make sure the intermediate sprocket is in the correct place and not 180degrees out
  2. I bought this last month, http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/interior/metro-vac-vac-n-blow/prod_1090.html got fed up struggling with an oversized house vacuum cleaner, its got some tiny attachments on it so good for the small gaps etc I now use that poorboys natural look, after someone on here mentioned it, gives the car a nice smell. Taking front seats out is easy, i do that quite often when i clean inside the car.
  3. I was in a similar situation when my gasket went. Bought a complete engine and used that as i needed the car on the road. Its now been off the road for a year as that engine developed a noise in the head and i had gearbox problems. I have ended up building a new engine from mostly new parts so still have original engine and the spare if you need any bits? Am not too far from Cambridge. I think in the long run a rebuild of original engine would be the best option. I got a good deal on my 2nd hand one had 263 cams in it so used them on the new engine. Otherwise you could probably get a good temp engine for £200ish and you end up with loads of spares if they include ancillaries
  4. Don't know the code or had it myself but the rosstech site allows you to enter faults code and gives some basic help http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/00532
  5. I've used the megs wipes, Autoglym, gliptone, furniture clinic and currently using one called "einszett leather care lederpflege" which i like best. I think the thing with leather is regular cleaning rather than trying to spread a cream over it to magically transform it. After all they do call it a sealed leather product, if you spill a drink on them it doesn't soak in. Gliptone was good, but really stank, people would comment on it as i'd end up smelling of it, they thought i was wearing a cream from the doctor
  6. Am not sure on the mechanicals on the 8v gearbox, but i had funny issues when my clutch fork bent and nearly snapped into two. Everything worked but bite point became really low to the floor and was hard to get into gears.
  7. Last photo on the previos page should go on a corrado calendar
  8. I thought if a lot of oil was coming through the PCV then it means the valve seals are worn, hence more oil blowing back into the cam area.
  9. Need to take off a couple of the black rub strips down the side of car. I assumed they are just glued on, is there a good technique to getting them off? Will it come off and take paint with it? I plan to stick them back on again, just need to treat a bit of rust on my door.
  10. Yeah, just checked old photos and you are correct, not sure what the diagram i posted is showing then.. Confusing Some of my old pics, not sure if they help at all?
  11. Got these from vagcat, i had them all downloaded on pc already for some reason Might be worth a double check as i've not looked at them 100% properly
  12. Its a big debate, usually ends in peoples pointing forward opinions of the model they have. I went with a VR as top gear feature said it was the one to go for and most old features/adverts seem to rate the VR6 as the range topper. I also wanted a larger lazier engine then something small with a turbo or charger making the power up. I just saw the VR6 as longer lasting.
  13. Yeah it goes on quite nicely, hoping its up to the job as the last lot of rust treatment i did never really worked very well, so redoing all that as well.
  14. I fitted mine, was quite a big job in the end but most of its in now, no idea if it works or not yet though
  15. Looks headlight related. Noticed the other wires there all burnt and that is what happens when the switch goes.

    Bonnet Stay

i sanded my old one and painted it, came out as good as new
  17. I'd get the genuine one for the sake of £15 difference in price. Am sure i've heard of the cheaper ones splitting around the seam.
  18. Found time to finally start getting things covered up over the easter weekend. I seem to have been spending a long time grinding bits of rust off. At least i know the back end of car will be rust free for a while. Using this stuff this time round as you can spray it on bare metal as a primer and also over any corrosion i couldn't get with the dremel. Used the rubber stuff to cover up the bits that have been welded and treated underneath as well Think i'll add schutz over it as well at some point, i have the schutz and the gun so may as well try it out. Fuel cap didn't need any welding, which was a nice surprise, just a little bit of surface rust Painted that with the rust stuff, will probably paint it green at some point Ended up rubbing down the whole rear panel as had rust spotting starting to appear And then painted it all, will leave it in black for now, at least until i get car back together etc, am thinking i will have a full respray now. Will wait until i've done all the underside and wheel arches etc Need a new tailgate rubber seal now as well, glad i lifted it as was starting to rust underneath. Ran out of paint, waiting for some more to be delivered then plan is to finish spraying the rear end, axle is away getting plastic powder coated along with the brakcets, then i can build that up, get car on the ground and fit the new engine. Would be nice to drive it this year.
  19. I remember my neighbour t cutting his crank telling me he was fixing similar damage. Feel sorry for whoever bought that car.
  20. Am wondering if he was the guy who sunk a forklift into his garage floor and then fixed his roof to the top of it, so when the forklift lifted the car, the roof went up with it to give the clearance.
  21. Not sure how to get it out, you could try one of them reverse drill bits with a high speed drill and hope it bites it. I had a thread strip on my exhaust stud, i had to drill it out and fix it with a timesert, (i still have 4 spare inserts for the job if you need to do that)
  22. Have you been able to scan it with vagcom to see if its throwing up any faults?
  23. There used to be more videos on youtube, but you never really see him thrashing it, probably more fun to watch the tuned v8 ones, they probably go faster as well
  24. I'd like to take it through McDonald's drive thru.
