  1. They can be hard to diagnose, mine ran for quite a while and i had to keep topping the water up, the only other sign was it idled really lumpy when cold, i think a little water was sitting in a cylinder until the engine warmed up. Or it could just be the thermostat jammed as you mentioned.
  2. Spec sounds nice, the coolant tank thing could be a worry. Happened on mine and was signs of the head gasket going, air was pressurizing the coolant system.
  3. Bought a grey light unit off ebay for £8, might try and spray it, doesn't look easy though, would have to dismantle all the switches etc
  4. I see, that's quite a good idea, re: the socket from headlight. Then i think i've driven 100,000miles over 8yrs in it with standard lights so must be ok
  5. I';ve fitted two different looms and never been happy with them, i had planned to extend the loom i have so the relays sat inside the car, but still not sure about it. I don't like leaving the headlight plugs unconnected and just sticking a wire with a spade end into them.
  6. With spray guns do you need a filter setup as well to remove moisture? I got a compressor from work, but have no idea about it, must find some instructions for it as it says it needs oil
  7. I was hoping it would, but as i tighten it, it pulls itself upwards, put the original back in and get the same thing happen. I think its part of the latch is a different shape, so hoping to file/dremel some bits off it
  8. Fitted tweeters to dash, mounted them from underneath to give clearance for the grills, worked a treat (mentioned in another thread somewhere) Got the doors speakers fitted, had to cut away some of the inside of the pocket, but got there in the end. Didn't fancy doing too much last night so did some small bits i've had for ages. Got shiny door latch, interior handle and the other bit that door closes onto. Manky old one Then fitted everything Door doesn't close properly now  the latch pulls it up too high, so going to do some filing down of bits i think.
  9. Some pics First bit is only little, but would save me some work and finding some metal Then the most needed bit is the drivers side rear, under the bumper, its where the two round mounts sit. ^^need as much of it as possible really, i also might need some bits from under the car, And then drivers side, where A-pillar meets the sill. ^^Again looking for as much of it as possible, with plenty of sill, would buy both sides if people can get them And then under the car, i've not cut anything away yet but would be nice to have these bits, the horizontal flat section, i might just cut off the round thing.
  10. Mine might be ready by then and I need to do a couple of thousand miles of running in. Won't run it.
  11. I like the painted black black fluid res
  12. Interesting, can't see the throttle cable, must be loads of work to hide all the wiring like that.
  13. I've taken fuel tank, exhaust and rear beam off. Was three shields that came off. It's the two larger ones.
  14. Great. I will get the pics up. It's the drivers rear corner of car. Where the two bumper mounts sit. and the drivers side bottom of a pillar where it meets the sill. Have got some photos on work pc
  15. That is a mystic blue storm above  There isn't going to be a massive choice of them about.
  16. Nice one, Thats the two i need, the little one is ok. I thought they would probably be expensive, i might try cleaning mine up and sticking washers on them
  17. I've got a gruven parts one, its been on and off quite a bit over the 5yrs+ i've owned it, but i've never undone the drain plug. I like mine, but people say for the money you may as well buy a VW plastic one.
  18. Pulled all the heat shields off from under the car and most of them have rotted away around the fixing discs. Are they still available to buy or is there a way to repair them, I could just use a large washer then refit the clips. Would prefer replacements as its going to be a bore cleaning them up.
  19. After some bits of corrado if anyone can help? Was in touch with a guy on ebay, but at the last minute i'm not too sure about the seller.
  20. i have been in touch with them, just thought i'd search the forum before i gave any money over. I was going to buy some bodywork cuts off him, so i can weld up mine. Not sure i should now.
  21. They was a guy on here that modified his to suit his corrado, made a debadged grill etc
  22. Yeah, its quite easy to test with a cheap multimeter. Or get to a place that sells battery and if they are decent they will check it all out for you. You just hook up the multimeter to the battery terminals and check the voltage, should be over 12v with engine off, and then it should rise up to over 14v with engine running and alternator charging it up. Did the recovery guy test or check much?
