as he said above black temp sender. anyone know the part number on these too? will have to wait a day more though stealer ordered a bloody therostat switch somehow.dipsticks!

whats the protocol for changing these, its the one by the radiator not the one for mfa readout.Know a few of you have changed these down the years. Also what tools bits do i need and how long do they take to change.only work i've done before really is sort out my matrix, rear calipers pads etc,and top up my coolant (a few more times than i would have wanted to) piccys would be nice to :D ps mod squad i did do a search :!:
-
that depends if the caliper bolts are seized,if they are it can take much more than an hour very true, had this prob on mine hour job that took 2 days.

just going to jump on and hi-jack this thread, my 1.8 16v has been running ok lately (makes a change) but y'day started getting what i thought were high oil temps.my coolant temp was around 90ish on motorway, 90-100 on A roads and around 110 in town, whilst my oil temp rose to around 105 then would rise upto 112-120 when sat in traffic/2nd gear crap and the lowest it dropped on the motorway was 104. when i pulled up home coolant was around 90-95 whilst oil sat at 120 for a min or 2 before dropping also no fans were on and level in expansion tank has risen well above max mark. these temps sound right? and should the fans be kicking in to aid oil cooling or they just for coolant.was thinking of changing senders incase there buggering up cooling system slightly.

the little flapper bit on my handbrake i used an elastic band to hold it on and the other large bit of trim i've had to screw down with 4 small screw to hold it in place.did the job and looks neat and tidy.
-
at the moment i've had quote of £165 guy reckoned tops of wings would need blending in as well.

sourced a new bonnet for my 16v as original got a big ding in. the new one i got was already primed needs maybe slight sanding then top coats and laqueur. anyone got any ideas on how much should expect to pay? new bonnet would just need spraying and can fit it myself so no need for extra cost of that.
-
you didnt actually need to take the dash out to this though.i got mine out just taking the trim off from both sides.and this was around 10pm and i aint no mechanic. as mentioned the glovebox is a right bugger to get out and back in.
-
was it any good though? my gsf tank seemed fine at the time 2months down the line caboom!
-
not bad from vag.was expecting silly money.there not open tomorrow are they? :D
-
after the normal mass of cooling problems everyone gets and thought i had sorted,my expansion tank seems to have a leak, and is causing pressure build up/overheating/headache etc. tank i had was from gsf,but heard there abit dodgy anyway (looks like a i got one)water is coming out halfway along the seem bit and def not out of the valve. with this in mind will prob get a new tank and cap from vw dealer, anyone got idea of price on these though?

spotted a g plate valver/g60 in a car park near monmouth leisure centre had a set of roof rack bars on it, aftermarket alloys but not sure size/make as was on the main road going towards hereford. -
my car decided to overheat and waz its coolant out y'day morn on way to work.was about 10 miles into journey.only around half a mile from work so parked up ok.after work topped up coolant let run to get rid of airblocks ran engine, fans were cutting in around 98-100 degrees.drove home no probs temp didnt even get above 110 degrees on way home well guess what exactly the same scenario happened today.overheated topped up fans were kicking in earlier though at 92 degrees then shutting off at around 88.drove home gauge was 94-96 the whole way apart from a slight bit of second gear stuff near home then it only reached 100. anyone know any ideas on the last two mornings though as cant be bothered to keep sorting it out every night after work.thinking of getting a compression check done to check the head gasket. car has had new thermostat and fan switch also recently.

well after the mini meet today, saw more corrado's in a single day than ever before. first was a turquoise type colour. 2.0L 16v first part of plate was L2 guy inside was reading a paper though. was in m&s car park culverhouse cross second h reg 16v going along duel carriagewat towards talbot green, being driving by some mint blond gave you a beep and got a 'why's that guy beeping me for look' :D -
has the rubber seal thing around the top perished or does it seem ok?
-
as in title really will a 16" wheel with 45 offset fit ok without spacers. had a look on a site with offsets and the corrado was specified as being able to use 35-43 offset so unsure on 45. anyone know if these will go on ok?

the speedo on my clocks stopped working this morn. had the bulb on the fuel/coolant temp dial changed y'day so suppsoe its something to do with that.however it was working on way home y'day and this morn for a bout 2-3 miles then stopped working,my rev counter is working fine though. also the illumination for the rear screen heater stopped today. This hard to get sorted or just probably a loose part somewhere. ps did do a search mods before you beat me with a stick.

you dont need the whole dash out, just the lower trim, driver and passenger side and glovebox. trust me on this as i've done this 4 times in the last 2 months and twice was doing it at 10pm on the drive in the bloody rain with torches.
