just to hijack this topic, been offered some cams for £150 to put on my 1.8 valver.would also get all the timing re-checked. how much would i gain from this and also how much work is changing cams?
-
my 1.8 16v brakes are pants, rears are pathetic, being upgraded once engine has been done.

To Modify or Not to modify - that is the question?

def oem+ change of rims, drop it abit, poss bit of debadging/colour coding.then maybe subtle interior mods steering wheel/gearknob. decent audio setup but not like you got a nightclub in your car then just tune the engine up. thats my opinion not gospel of course. -
doh! should know that, my mate took his jetta there to get it tuned.
-
:D righty o will try a few of these guys see what they say, can they tune it up as well?
-
too late! its gone back to the garage! seems to be running abit better but still not perfect.do reckon you could have a look at it some time then?
-
Thats the belt and crank and cam timing, not ignition timing. All the symptoms of a belt whch is a couple of sprockets out. Retiming the ignition will not sort it as it's the valve timing that has been affected. If the belt had been put on correctly, most likely the ignition timing will not have changed and no adjustment needed. A quick check that indicates it is out means the belt is wrongly fitted. i'll take your word for it, does this mean belt has to come off and be re-aligned/adjusted, or can it be left on and adjusted?
-
will do cheers for that. how long does it usually take? i aint up to date with my newish corrado engine yet. :)
-
is this hard/expensive to sort?

just had car back today.had cambelt and tensioner changed, also power steering oil changed and forte fuel cleaner stuff put in the tank. it is running rather sluggish though an no-where near as 'torquey' as usual imo. could it be the forte stuff buggereing up the fuelling and therefore performance.as when it came straight from the garage it was stalling at junctions a few times. poss fuel starvation due to forte messing up fuel mixture? if so how long till this stuff gets through and out of the system. i always use super unleaded to if this is any help.

that car looks mint mate, just leave it as it is. i'll through my hat in the ring and say they are 17's on 45 profile tyres?

Lowering springs 40 or 60? what people find best?
cymru-corrado replied to juloesG60's topic in Drivetrain
i got H&R -30mm springs on standard shocks the rear shocks are new though. handles pretty good can be abit bumpy on really bad roads though. anyone know if a spring kit like this can be used with uprated dampers at a later point? -
i just went to b&q for some new carpet for my boot. different way to do it maybe but did the job.

oops. does a toad a1606 i think it is, have ultrasonics. seems to have about 8 modes of immobilisers though. -
half completed this project at last. i now have 2 tweeters in the front, ripped out standard oe rears, used the existing cabling but re-ran it through to the doors, got some custom door pods and put some 17cm 3 way coaxials in there. at the back i've got my amp all setup to a set of 6x9's just need 1 little hook thing to screw in an earth cable and put a fuse in the power cable. then job done 8)

i just took tweeters out of a mk4 polo. plug and play as they went straight in. noticed i also have those mini 5mm tweeters near the sun visor as well. are these on all corrado's? As i now have 4 tweeters and a pair of 3 way coaxials up front with amped 6x9's in the rear. my oe rears were completely blown! -
doh! will have a check. didnt notice it though. thought it would be there like on my mk4 polo.
