  1. Is this a common fault with the Dastek does anybody know?? I have one of these to fit to my car, but have been advised to throw it away by some vw tuners over here as they say that the response time on the Lambda/Co etc. is terrible? Asim reported no problems with it fitted to his car though? Dutch
  2. Cool, ...and I don't have any recall valves to remove so should be OK with what I've got. Cheers... Dutch
  3. Good idea on cleaning the carper while the dash is out. :thumbleft: I haven't checked mine to be honest, but I don't notice any odd smells when driving. Might get some carpet shampoo though to make sure. I have the Canadian C sites guide too, but am confident my mate can sail through it based on his previous experiences with C matrix's. Fingers crossed!! My aux pump is making a noise too as it goes, but will leave it until it goes totally as the dealer wants 125 euro's for a new one!? Anyhow, cheers and good luck with the replacement... Dutch
  4. :) ...out of interest, what other bits did you buy to do the matrix job? I've just got the matrix and a few jubilees? A mate of mine from VW, who has replaced 3 Corrado matrix's this year already, is helping with the job and he got the parts for me. I presume we need nothing more as he says we don't? Dutch
  5. Hmmm, my matrix has part number 1H1 819 031 B, where as yours is 1H2.....!? Not sure why the third digit is different though!? Check the part number on the actual part when you pick it up to confirm. You shoul dhave G12+ as VW don't sell G11 or G12 anymore. Dutch
  6. ...having just looked at my matrix though, I don't see how the valve could be built into it to be honest, or it's invisible! :? Guess they have a different internal construction so they don't need one, as Henny said. Dutch
  7. I was supposed to replace mine last weekend, but didn't have the time so will be undertaking the lovelly task this weekend. Anyhow, my matrix (bought from VW), part number 1H1 819 031 B, is from a mkIV golf apparently. They are the same now and this is the only matrix VW should sell you for a Corrado. I have checked and it is identical to the C one, and has the valve built in (so I've been informed from various sources). Dutch
  8. btw, If it's a '94 I presume it's a coil packed VR? If so it would be missing on 2 cylinders if one of the coils was faulty. Dutch
  9. Have you checked the plugs? If your using oil chances are at least 1 of them will be fouled up. I'm in a simular situation at the mo, but as long as you keep an eye on the oil level and the plugs it should be OK, once you fix the current rough running issue. I have to replace plug 6 every 5-6000 km's at the moment too, otherwise same symptons you describe return to my VR. I also was beginning to think my lack of power/poor idle/occsasional stalls etc. was also due to a knackered head and or gasket. Replaced some sensors and she's back to full song. Occasional dip in power/hesitency at low revs recently, but I put that down to plug 6 being fouled up again due to the oil getting into cylinder 6. Will replace it this weekend and expect total smoothness again. Anyhow, get it scanned as a sensor or 2 could be dieing, and if your MAF is the original one I would think about replacing that too, as it will need doing soonish anyhow. Sounds like it could be a fouled plug and/or cam sensor to me, but impossible to predict on a VR as so many faults can cause the same symptoms!! Dutch
  10. Saysomestuff: That's my thinking too, but just wanted to be sure. Henny: Do you think there'll be a difference then between RHD & LHD? I don't see why? Will check part number anyhow later tonight...
  11. Apparently the C matrix is now the same part as a golf 4 matrix? - which I presume has the valve built in. I will check the part number tonight to be sure though. Cheers...
  12. One thing though, as the monkeys at my local VW dealer don't know - will a new matrix from VW have the valve in it to stop coolant p*ssing all over my floor when it fails, or do I have to buy this valve seperately?? Dutch
  13. Try replacing the Cam sensor too. Exactly the same sensor, but with a different connector I believe. Only costs about 40-50 quid as VW know the car WILL run without it!! Duthc
  14. Driving from Brussels to Amsterdam with the alarm constantly singing at top voice in rush hour. After 2 hours of driving I arrived at the audio/alarm shop that fitted it, jumped out, ran straight into the shop and demanded the guy working to 'stop that f&cking noise before I rip it out and shove it up your ****', much to the amusement of the queue of customers waiting for help. Dutch
  15. Good luck mate, am curious how it goes now... Dutch
  16. Can vouch for this as I had the head skimmed on my previous '92 VR and had nothing but problems afterwards. Replaced in the end with a non-skimmed head and Sold it on after purchasing the lovelly '94 I have now. Also, not much clearence between valves and piston as is, so skimming is not advised full stop on a VR head. Dutch
  17. '94 VR on 201740 Km's now, 148000 being mine 8)
  18. ...and as Kev said, if the Crank sensor was dieing your car would randomly stall and if it was dead the car wouldn't start at all. When the Cam sensor is dead/deing, the ECU retards the timing to prevent damage, hence a flat feeling to the engine.
  19. That could be the Crank position sensor but more than likely based on your description of the problem it's the Cam position Sensor. Both sensors work on the hall effect. Dutch
  20. Surely if you unplug the BTS and the car cuts out it shows it IS working correctly?? Dutch
  21. BTS maybe, as it's OK when hot. Worth a go and very cheap. Dutch
  22. Nice one Kev, good to hear!! 8)
  23. ah, ok then. I checked the tracking info. and Ian didn't actually collect mine from the PO until quite recently though so who know's where it is now! Dutch
  24. ...and she hit 200000 km's today, 148000 of which I did. Sorry, OT, but thought I'd drop in that little mile stone between me and my beloved... 8)
  25. err, could have as I did send mine back recently  ...my cable was adjusted correctly though and you'll remember I noticed straight away when it wasn't set right with the new body 8) She does see some regular full throttle action though as I drive +/- 120 motorway Km's a day, ...and I do like a *play* every now and then  Dutch
