I don't know if theres another corrado in the world with a chromed box, unless someone knows better. Just been to MJ talked about the cars he's doing for this year. Standard through the roof. Picked up a new steering wheel today too. Needs a few bits chroming but i trial fit it tomorrow and see if people prefer it to the current Momo Runner. Going to be a very good year. Hadn't planned to show my car this year but theres alot of arm twisting going on which is a surprise to me, i thought people would be sick of the site of it after 11 shows last year. We'll see how it goes.

yeah been checkin' out that site. Not sure if i need to spend £400 on there stage 2 driveshafts if i can fit TDI CV's. Don't want to strip down those to chrome plate the centres at that price.
-
are they a straight swop?
-
coilovers.
-
yeah, i got lucky for a change. Heard that Simon Sweetlands stands him £2K. Mines cost £150 but got to add a rebuild to that.
-
looking very mean and functional too i bet.
-
i'd say buy a kit. Much easier and think the venom one uses OEM parts too.

Just like to say thanks for all you comments. Had a rough day, cheered me up alot.

yep that right, dead easy. CoxyLaad, Yeah chrome will crack if you tight the bolts too hard. You can paint around the bolt hole with laquer or use a stainless washer. DaveVR6, just got the subframes, steering rack and driveshafts to do. good job i didn't tell my chromer that.

Not going to use it was much, then again i only live 3 miles from work now so i could if i wanted.
-
Really not sure, probably not.

How much were the wheels? Only know of one place in the UK which can chrome alloys and they quoted £1200+vat to do mine. I'd say buy new rims.

Sad, sad day - company car ownership looms....

Why?? Sounds great to me, company for the slog. C for the weekend blast. -

Its sat in my bedroom now LOL. Its one of those mods you see a shows and think wow, i'll never be able to do that but turns out to be pretty easy just time consuming. Getting really excited but the car again as it will be very close to being a proper showcar when it returns to the scene. dragon, cheers mate, not a case of flaunting it. Just like doing this sort of stuff and really hate the thought of driving a dirty car. STORM 2, thanks. Its only going to get better or worst depending on your point of view!!!

collected my chromed gearbox!!
-
Gearbox is back 2 days early!! And it looks bloody awesome, when i got the call i was at the chromers in 30mins as i couldn't wait till friday. Chuffed to bits with it, now got source polish and plate the rest of the gearbox parts and start building it up. Think i'll really be pushing the germans hard now.
-
unlucky mate, with car insurance being so expensive these days no ones gonna leave there details anymore.
-
i completely agree. Polished ally looks miles better and has a softness about rather than the cold clinical look of chrome plating. But as you say you can easily spend a whole day buffing up polished ally, with chrome i just wipe it with glass cleaner and wipe it off. Do the whole engine it 5mins at a show rather than a whole saturday before a show. Plus its a buzz pick up stuff from the chromers (TMT McCoy will agree with this) knowing you've transformed a manky old car part into a little piece of artwork. Wait while you see that oil filter housing i got of you.
-
yeah, still a tough call because it could be used polished. If this doen't work then i've go tp find another casing and start again with the polishing and to be honest, i couldn't face doing a gearbox again. But i'd have to as you've got to keep pushing the standard's up.
-
Finally dropped the gearbox casing off at the chromers today. At first they refused to do it saying it was too complicated and wasn't aluminium. Then pointed out the it would be scrapped if they tired to plate and they would want to scrap an expensive casing. I pointed out that it was only cost me £50 and it would be the hours i've put into it i would be losing not money and he started to think about it. I said that i've seen them done before and was prepared to except they may scrap the casing and he offered me a deal. The jist is he's not sure if he can chrome it but is interested to have ago (i mentioned only one chromer in the UK had done it so far) and offered to do it for £100+VAT (about a fifth of what i was expecting) whether it works or not. Bit of a gamble on both sides. Its back on friday, fingers crossed....

its also thinner, personally if you've got the choice between water based and 2 pack i chose the latter every time.

yeah it is , i'm tempted by a boxster s myself atm yeah, its my brothers car. Only got 30k ish on it and had loads of problems. New abs pump, new wishbones, new window mechanism, clutch, main oil seal, speedo stopped working. Not the cheapest car to run.
