not sure, going over to dubsport next weekend to decide. HGP have asked Mark to be a UK distributor and are sending him a kit to play with. Only problem is it uses a front short inlet manifold and i'd prefer to keep the factory one. Think the exhaust is cast and i want a shiny tubular one, we'll see what happens. Got a mountain of work to before i can think about get the kit on such as the gearbox.

should be ordering my kit end of this month :D

996 dash is much better choice, TT would have been too predictable for a project of this quality. Have you painted the centre section of the dash body colour or is it carbon fibre? Any plans for a matching carpet? Again, awe inspiring car. -
started to paint strip the radiator fan cowl. Soooo much easier stripping and polishing brand new parts.

Got a pair of spare ones i need refurbing. TIA

Dubsport have fitted to a mk2 so corrado should be possible too.

Yep, please post interior pics...You must be stumped on how to improve on a car like that. Wait until Matt Heap see's it. -
Get the pic's up then!

don't limit your self to one area. I'd travel anywhere to ensure its done right.

Actually, you probably could get away with doing it like that. I forgot you had mentioned that you had silicon tape. No need of voiding the warranty when you could just mask it off & then dip it.[/quote:9b88a] nice one. Here a pic for you. Had them since 2003 but never got around to fitting them as i'm not happy with the carbon fibre mounting bracket. Its a bit big and not quite upto show standard. £60 if anyone wants it, cost £125. TMT McCoy, get a thread started in the members gallery!! Need to see more of you car.

Looking good, needs light smoke tints next. Yes you can Kev.

Lee, the casing for the starter comes off quite easy. It's the magnets attached to the inside of housing which is gonna be a pain in the arse...I had to soak my casing in diesel fuel to get the magnets to come loose. Once I got the casing back I just dropped it off at a auto repair shop to have them rebuild the starter. You can also polish up the starter solenoid as well just make sure you give it a shot of clear coat so that it doesn't rust![/quote:5e67e] Do you think it will be possible to remove the casing and mask the inside including the magnets and then chrome it?. Its a new starter motor so got the warranty to think about. Might get away with chroming the case but think they would be too help if i disassembled it too much. thanks for the advice and pics so far!!

More like if it metal chrome it

I used a general purpose waterproof silcone from B&Q. Three years since i did them and tyre pressures was never changed. To add to Darren's advise, make sure you clean the mounting surfaces of any old silcone, i used wire wool to do this. I also noticed the silcone cured much faster under compression so aim to get the rim bolted down in about 30-40mins to the backs.

ha! You;ve done audi handles too? there worth every penny. Work sooo much better than the factory poop.
-
No, can't afford it just yet. Trying to concentrate on the big labour jobs at the moment as there free. Hopefully this month though. Treated myself to a new starter motor which I'll polish up. If the casing comes off i'll chrome it at the same time.

I quite like it. Got a very exclusive look to it.

Haven't been using mine much recently as i've got a few problems with it but its never entered my head to sell. Reason being i enjoy doing the work on it, fixing it, improving it and see it more as the result of a hobby than a practical car which i'm not make enough use of. Question is do you enjoy your car or see it as a chore? You obviously enjoy rebuilding wheels and you car is the perfect showcase for your labours but so was your previous car. With me the car's there and i enjoy going for a blast, taking it to a show or just showing off the car i've built. Its an expensive and time consuming interest but i decide how much time and money i spend on it. Its your choice to make and there much more important things than cars.

pretty sure someone on here has a chrome charger. They used a pic of it in their sig. -
Still doing the groundwork. Got full set of VF mounts, currently sorting the gearbox, Oil Cooler on the way soon, seaming welding both front subframes, refurbing Eibach ARB's, Stripping & plating the wishbones, got all powerflex bushes, bought new rad cross member, bought new rad with new cowl, V-belt, water pump. Got VDO boost guage and Oil pressure gauge. Still got to buy the intercooler, Air fuel meter, ATB, Clutch, tensioner+chains, recon cylinderhead (maybe big valve) then i can order the turbo kit. The plan is to buy all the misc bits first which are usually unbudgetted for at the beginning so the project doesn't get out of control and the car is sat waiting for parts. Seen too many VR turbo projects get half way through and the owner give up because they didn't plan it properly. You can't just throw on a turbo kit IMO without rebuilding the car mechanically to deal with the torque. To me the turbo is the last thing you order once you have a solid foundation to work from. I'm going over to Dubsport (DS) in a couple of week for a chat with Mark and Jeff to choose between the two kits they offer. Their own and HGP or possibly a hybrid between the two. DS are keen for me to go for the HGP kit as it gives big power and running cooler due to the front mounted short inlet manifold. Personally I want to keep my current inlet for a more OEM looking install but also want a tubular exhaust manifold rather than a cast one. Power isn't my goal, quality of install and reliablity are more important to me. The 325bhp is a bonus.
