  1. So I've just done the same thing for my wife's car - A4 3.0 TDI Quattro - and it's the same story with Admiral... Street parking - £308 Driveway - £311 Garage - £367 But because it has no mods, there are far more insurance options and switching to Swiftcover (although I cringe to pay money to them to support their horrific adverts) has a different story: Street parking - £234 Driveway - £220 Garage - £222 Think that unless Admiral charge me a horrific cancellation charge or they price match, will be switching to Swiftcover in about a months time when I move! Equally Admiral still annoy me in that when they sent the multicar renewal quote it was £150 higher than the quote I'd got the same day as a 'new' customer, so I'm quite looking forward to being able to move (although there's no guarantee that Swiftcover will be any better). And people wonder why insurance companies are up there with estate agents and bankers.....
  2. Hi all, Just about to move house from street parking to a house with a garage, driveway and street parking so had a quick play with insurance options for my VR6 and was somewhat confused by the results! All three quotes were identical (from Admiral via Confused.com) except for where the car's kept overnight... Street parking - £292 Driveway - £298 (!!) Garage - £338 !!!!!!!!!!!!! Highly confused by their logic there! In reality, unfortunately don't think I'll be able to used the garage as due to the age of the house, it was built for when cars were a lot smaller and I'm not convinced will be quite wide enough to be able to get into / out of the car, that is if it'll fit in there in the first place! Plus the hassle of having to move the wife's car off the drive every morning to get it out to go to work may well be too much hassle!
  3. Hi, If it's still available, are all the clips intact on the rear number plate plinth and presume it's black and unpainted? If so how much for this posted? Thanks Phil
  4. Hi, Thanks for letting me know. Sounds like it's in a similar state to mine so won't be going for this. Thanks anyway Phil
  5. Hi Do you have the rear plastic number plate plinth and are the clips intact? If so how much for this posted? Thanks, Phil
  6. Hi, Are these still happening as seems to have gone quiet? Would prefer one of these, but if they're not going to happen will revert to one of the £10 copies..... Cheers Phil
  7. Not sure if this counts, as James @ Sub11 did it for me (top job - recommended in the Peterborough area) but have now got 288 brakes on, so looking forward to being able to stop when I want to! Didn't realise quite how tight they are over Speedlines - have got to get one of the wheels rebalanced as the balancing weight is just rubbing the caliper, so there's a nice t - t - t - t - t - t sound at the moment!
  8. Ditto - brakes were as described and quickly delivered - very helpful guy.
  9. Excellent! Just need to get my hands on some now.....!
  10. Turned up without any extra taxes so think it worked out at £38, not bad for brand new! The detail on it is incredible!
  11. Thanks although slightly confused - current speedlines are 205/50/15 R15x6.5J ET43 so thought the 205/45/16 R16x6.5J ET43 would be ok or doesn't it work like this? Thought that this would keep the extremities of the tyre in the same place within the arch? Was less sure about the 7j.....
  12. Hi, I'm looking at getting some BBS split rims, which seem to be most widely available from the mk3 / mk4 golf but are in two sizes - either R16x6.5j ET43 or R16x7j ET43. I'm running on 30mm drop with Koni TAs / H&R springs and am guessing that either will fit with 205/45/16 but can anyone confirm this before I actually buy either of these sizes? Cheers Phil
  13. A mate did exactly the same - he fitted some electric OE leather but had to drive hunched over the wheel for two weeks before he could get them wired correctly! Not sure about all wheels, but on the original speedlines the wheel info is embossed around the inner rim of the wheel and is something along the lines of 15 x 6.5J ET43...... was hoping that there was something similar on yours, as have seen both 6.5J and 7J GTI BBS wheels and don't want to end up buying a set that rub! Unless anyone else knows if you can fit 16 x 7j et43 wheels? I'm guessing you can, but like you I've never changed wheels before either!
  14. Hi, just one more quick question - what width / offset are your wheels? I've seen both 16 x 6.5j et 43 and 16 x 7j et43 and wasn't sure if the 7j would fit? Cheers Phil Ps the recaros do look mint!
  15. Afraid I can't make this one but hope it goes well.... Sam - did I see you driving away from work in an A4 estate??????
  16. Cool - thanks for that info, just have to try and get my hands on a set now!
  17. Hi Lovely looking C. Could you let me know what size tyres you're on with the RX2s? Really like them and very tempted to put some on mine too! Also what centre caps have you got on? Also do you know how much difference there is in ride / comfort between 15" speedlines and the 16s? Cheers Phil
  18. Not sure if there is another thread, but I had a look on the web after I'd been tempted by your stuff and found a US company that's still selling the1/18 Revell Corrado models - they had 5 left (now 4!) in Aqua blue and one in Dark Burgundy, so have ordered one from them - hopefully it'll make it through the post in the next couple of weeks! If anyone else is interested in the last few that they have the website is shown below, but as to whether they're reliable is yet to be seen! http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=REV08878 for the aqua blue http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=REV08877 for the dark burgundy Bizarrely the burgundy model is $6.15 more expensive!
  19. Haven't seen another C on the road for ages then two in one day after picking mine up from Stealth! Saturday 12:30ish saw a tidy looking dark coloured corrado (think it was blue but didn't get to see what type) heading north on the A423 between Banbury and Southam, so flashed and waved and got a last minute wave back (I was in the grey VR6), then saw another C stuck in the big traffic jam on the A34 northbound coming up to the M40 about 1pm, but don't think they saw me.....
  20. D'oh! I'd been enviously eying up a couple of your models only to see that you'd ended the items early! Would be excellent to share the articles as and when you can.
  21. Hi, I've just been having a similar but less extreme kind of issue with my VR - fine for a while then cut out at high revs, then fine, then wouldn't start, then fine, then cut out at high revs, then fine..... At Stealth at the moment and there's a MAF fault code, so if may be worth checking yours (or could be completely fine, equally I know very little about G60s so not sure how they compare to a VR MAF!)... Cheers Phil
  22. Saw (and parked next to, but was still there when I left so guess he didn't see me!) a red N reg valver with a Sub11 sticker in the window in the Peterborough multistorey car park on Monday - looking nice....
  23. Fix it! Just had a similar experience of deciding whether to call it a day or not, as at 143k engine was guzzling oil (cyl no 6) and firing it out the exhaust, but realised that there was nothing out there that I would happily replace the C with! If you bought another it's probably not as mint as yours and the engine may die the next week anyway. Ended up going for a Stealth bottom end rebuild (head had been recently refurbed anyway - should have just got the lot done in the first place with 20:20) and just finishing off the run in period and the engine is soooo smooth now.......
  24. Just to echo the thanks to Sam and the guys organising the event - first time I'd been to one and will def come again! Some impressive cars there and good fun to have a few prizes (although the only one I'd win at the moment would be the least modified Corrado I think - mine being the storm grey VR6 that has the ride height of a 4x4 but hopefully not for much longer!). Good photos from Tempest too - I think that Glynn (the BMW traitor) was going to try and get his pics up on here to, so I'll give him a nudge next time I see him at work! Cheers Phil
