I think that should be fine as the cables seem to be ok - it's the metal slider they attach to that's broken... What price do you have in mind?

New Maf already fitted by Vince about 4000 miles / a year ago.... ---------- Post added at 7:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:23 PM ---------- Have you done the ecu reset since the battery went flat? That could be a contributor based on what I've learnt!

Hi - my sunroof has recently died as the rear slide has snapped so it will tilt up but not back down on one side so would be interested in the sunroof if this bit is working? Am not too far from Peterborough so could collect.... Cheers Phil

Grr - back to the drawing board as nearly stalled twice today on the way into work after 6 journeys of no issues and starting to think it was resolved (fool me!). Think will try going back to the original ISV as a starter before shelling out on a new one and double check for any leaks in the bits I've fitted.....

Found on mine the power wiring was faulty to the offside unit, so just put in a link to the power line on the nearside light as a temp measure until I fitted an updated loom, which has no need for the power line on the offside original wiring...

Don't suppose you could get a space saver from anything else that would fit over 288s? Wondering if a mk 3 had a space saver that would accommodate 288s that you could get a suitable tyre for to use?

Just looked at that eBay ad - definitely a bit strange that as far as I can see it doesn't mention that the conversion isn't complete, but why would you put a photo of a half built engine on the ad rather than the finished install if it is in a condition fit to pass an mot??!!! Ps got to be wary of someone selling a car and not even being able to spell the model name...!

Stolen Headlights - Medwaycorrado . Help needed.
pbradley98 replied to dumptyboy's topic in Off-topic Chat
Had a recent similar experience buying a bike rack - the guy sold it and either lied about having used it or knew it was incomplete as was missing £45 of bracket that was fundamental to it being usable. Good luck with getting something sorted and hope you don't have to resort to going down there... -
Isn't the overall wheel diameter the same on 16s assuming your running lower profile tyres to keep the speedo accurate? Good suggestion on the tyre filler - might have to get some of that...
-
I'd second that having been out in it too!

Thanks for letting me know - will have to have a think about that as have got a spare set of speedlines that I was going to stick winter tyres on, based on everyday boot space vs hassle of changing two wheels rather than one, especially when you know murphy's law will ensure the time you need to change one of the front wheels it'll be on the side of a busy dual carriageway with no hard shoulder on a cold dark night lashing it down with rain!
-
Sam, Could you actually watch someone else drive it away though after all the hours and effort?!!!!
-
Can anyone advise if the space saver will fit over 288s? Whilst the Speedies just clear them, I hadn't really thought about the space saver! I suppose worse case it's two wheel changes rather than 1 to grab a Speedie off the rear to move to the front and stick the space saver on the rear.....

Thanks for the tip - going to try running for a few days to see if the problem is 100% fixed, if not will have a look at what you suggest....

Just thought I'd post a progress update! Looked like the breather tube had a small oil leak onto the exhaust manifold heat shield, so though that could also be an air leak, so stripped down the breather tube and cleaned all the pipework, as it looked like it was leaking from the connector with the dummy electrical socket on it rather than from the breather valve. I don’t think there’s any evidence of the oil leak onto the exhaust manifold heat shield cover since, however it didn’t seem to make any difference to the stalling. Next step was I managed to get hold of a second hand ISV on the forum to try (thanks Speedysmartypants), which I gave a good clean then tried and at first I thought had made an improvement, but I think it was more me avoiding the conditions that seem to be most conducive to stalling as more recently it’s been worse again! Whilst changing the ISV, thought I could hear a bit of a hiss from the damper box just behind the ISV so ordered new hoses from the ISV to damper, from damper to intake manifold and also a new damper, which I’ve fitted this evening and look to have made a significant difference, as have been out for a quick run and seems to be significantly smoother when dropping to idle speed and doesn’t overshoot the idle speed (i.e. drops smoothly to 650rpm rather than carrying on to 500rpm or less and then recovering / stalling). One strange thing did happen the first time that I started the engine after fitting the new damper though, as the engine was idling at a much higher speed (around 1200 rpm) and surging up to approx 1500rpm before then dropping back to 1200rpm and continuing to do this until I opened the throttle a couple of times and allowed it to then drop back down to idle, at which point it started to idle at a more normal speed of 650-700rpm. Only guess as to why this happened would be that the old damper was significantly reducing the air flow through the ISV, so with the new damper there was a much increased flow through the ISV and hence with the new damper was idling at a much higher rate, which the ECU would then try to regulate down before opening again when it saw the revs dropping, which presumably was resolved through the ECU learning once the throttle was opened and closed? Fingers crossed it’s now back in good shape!

Spoiler motor cleaning and repair
pbradley98 replied to dragon green's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
After having the boot internal cover off at the weekend to reattach the number plate plinth, gave the spoiler a quick go with the manual handle and realised I definitely need to follow this procedure! -
Very interested in this as am working through the same issue on my VR6 - on initial playing it seems to idle better when the electrical connection is disconnected from the ISV with the idle revs increasing to around 750 - 800 rpm from 600- 650 when the ISV is connected. Guessing that the valve may close completely when energised, so when disconnected it's in the position shown in the photo and hence idle speed increases slightly?

Sounds interesting - can't afford it at the mo but very interested to see how this goes, as would like to replace the screen and seal at some point...

Looks lovely.... Amazed at that mpg on a VR - never seen anywhere near 40 on mine!

Just had a rare corrado moment in that it was broken but fixed quickly and easily which doesn't seem to happen for me often! Previously had some issues with the offside headlight not working due to a wiring fault and last night thought it had happened again, except this time it was just the bulb for once! Think that's one up for falling back in love...!
