Yep

The 'chip' is actually a small black rectangular block in the keyfob. And yep a new key would have to be coded at the dealers

Tutts of Dorking, has anyone had work done here?
joebloggsVR69 replied to carter711's topic in Suppliers Forum
I bought a MK2 GTI from them a few years back, seemed like a friendly bunch. It's a family run business I think. No idea what they are like for servicing though. Just googled and found this: http://www.freeindex.co.uk/profile(tutts-of-dorking-ltd-inc-dorking-vw-audi)_101084.htm -
Those of you that used to watch Chop Shop will probably remember the red Bentley, one of Leepu's more conservative efforts: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150575638934 £23k for that..?! He must be on drugs

Good on you for building it mate. I get the impression that most people just tend to buy them and then just keep them boxed, before selling them again on ebay :)

Wondering if anyone here's bought one of these: http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=0000005268412&x=15&y=14 I don't fancy paying around 3x as much for one from Halfrauds..
-
Don't edit it then :)

Yep, the full gimp mask is pretty intense.. But seriously, what's the point in just protecting a 6 inch strip of the bonnet, when you'll just end up getting your bumper and wings stone chipped instead? :)

Yep I hate them too, but they serve a purpose when you have fresh paint :)
-
I completely agree. I don't see the point of just protecting a small part of the bonnet.. All or nothing IMO :) I've got a full gimp mask, only ever used it on long journeys up and down the country. Don't have any pics of it on the car though, as it's too embarrassing

I guess no-one watches the news then..

I've been hearing about this on the news for the last couple of days: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12600284 Well I've always wondered how insurers could get away with blatant discrimination based on gender (...or postcode!) Can you imagine the uproar if insurers refused to insure someone based on their skin colour, because they were statistically more likely to have accidents?

Urgent help req. Factory imobiliser not syncing
joebloggsVR69 replied to dkingvr6's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
The $tealers can re-synch it, think it was around £50 for me a few years ago. My problem was the car would start and then cut out after a few secs. Re-synching the keys didnt fix the problem though. For me, fitting a new transponder coil fixed the issue. After reading another post on here, someone suggested just cleaning the transponder coil connector (underneath the driver's right knee I think) which would have probably also fixed it. No idea if thats any help to you, you didnt say if your car starts up then dies :) -

Urgent help req. Factory imobiliser not syncing
joebloggsVR69 replied to dkingvr6's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
What do you mean by not synching? Do you mean the transponder in the key? Does the car turn over and then cut out after a couple of seconds? -
Amber Heard was nice.. :) Not seen her before.

Hi StueyB, Just confirming that I'd like 2 pairs plz :) Sorry for the confusion!

I'll also be interested in a pair please, even though I don't need 'em :) *edit* I meant a pair of sets, just to be clear!

That must be about the 10th time this has been mentioned ;)

I'm on a classic policy with Norton/Heritage. Gonna go back to a regular policy when that expires, as I've noticed this clever clause:  The insurance does not cover damage to the insured vehicle from any cause nor theft of the vehicle unless it is kept in a proper locked garage when not in the course of a journey My car is garaged 99% of the time, but what this useless policy tells me is that on the rare occasion that I'm using the car to visit a friend/family/go to a car show, the car is not insured for damage or theft. Make sure you check the policy wording
