Dark grey valver for sale in Aylsham - anyone from on here? Also saw a dark colour (not sure what flavour) going past The New Inn near Rockland St Mary about 2pm Sunday just gone (07thFeb) - any takers? There's also a Green VR6 knocking about in Surlingham - I think you've put some 18" wheels on recently  you on here bud?

As per title really - need to take the 'rado off the road for a while, but have no indoor/covered storage area, so need to cover her up! What are the best and/or cheapest options available (bearing in mind I'm skint lol). Don't want to do this, but have no choice at the moment :( :( Thanks in advance Timmaaah (Not sure if this should be in general or suppliers  )
-
Aaaah crap - that sucks :( :( As others have said, at least you're ok - not that makes you feel any better though. Gutted for you
-
Direct Inje..................no, not going to fall for that :D :D Yes, apparantly the first direct FUEL injection engine placed in a road car according to WIKI, so actually, probably the seventh or one hundred and sixty fouth :( :( :? 160 mph aint slow tho, is it? But who cares - look at the lines - looks fast even at full stop :D

You really don't like the 300SL Toad? bloody luddite :? :( /Dobbin, time for nastiness - just think of England, and I'll have some carrot mouthwash ready at the end  )/

Hey hey, don't be sorry - each to their own - if we all liked the same thing, life would suck :) Which don't you like, first pics or second? (If it's the second pics, I will hunt you down and make donkeys do baaad things to you   (but you'd probably enjoy that   )).

Each to their own, but I reckon they've really captured the essence of the old 300SL (IMHO)

I've always been a fan of the old 300SL Merc - now, they're making a new one: STUNNING PICS HERE Here's a preview :notworthy: :notworthy: Georgoeus 8) I'm almost at a loss for words

Show us your Daily Driver....Corrado or other
timmaaah replied to til2143's topic in General Car Chat
Here's my daily shed It's got a roof rack on now though! 108 = 80 pitiful horses and 0-60 times measured in minutes as opposed to seconds! Still, makes driving the 'rado that much more special!! -
Hi all - not for me, but my old man - his '03 Focus has some damage along the side where it was reversed around and along a curved flint wall - d'oh. The offside rear door has damage on it, so has the sill. So - anyone know of a good/reasonable body repair shop in Norwich/Norfolk? Cheers - Tim (Not sure if this should be here or suppliers, but it does say suppliers for Corrados, not Focuses, Foci, or whatever the hell the plural of a Focus is!)
-
Your sun-roof and spoiler bust then - sort them first I reckon   Seriously - nice lookin 'rado - loving your pics in here but the last two but one, (not goof) look chopped? None the less - the last 'rado pic looks the sh1t! Can't help on tuning et al, but yeah - do the best by her! Timmaaah

On my way to my mates house this afternoon I saw three very unusual and rare cars (well, maybe 2 and a half!!) The first was a GT40 painted exactly like this Couldn't believe just how looooooow it was - sounded gorgeous as it flashed past - can't find jealous smiley :( Number two was, I think, a Maserati 450s - it's the closet thing that looks like it that I could find on the net Mmmmmmmmm - nice. The last was a lowly 196*/197* Reliant Scimitar - so fugly it almost looks good! Like this, only more beige/gold Ok, so the Scimitar isn't really all that rare, but they are few and far between now. I've seen a couple of GT40s on the road, but only 2 or 3, and I've never seen that type of Maserati before, ever! All spoted within about 15 mins of each other. Maybe there was some kind of meet on - but it was at about 4.30pm, so not like meet kicking out time? How flukey was that? It fair made my day! Cheers y'all Timmaaah

Alright dudes - circumstances have conspired against me to have a career change. Severe depression and some other head related shit have made me change my job as of end of Jan this year (fairly well paid sales type job to 'a boy' in the building trade  ), and my mileage has gone from about 15 miles per day to about 60 odd per day! Taken a fair knock back in wages, which has been really hard, and have still had to use the 'Rado as my daily hack. The poor old thing has only been getting about 18mpg on the maf (prolly about 14 worked out on full tank to full tank   ) and wont idle well. Also, the clutch needs doing, I need two front boots (getting a bit near the limit) and the outside is as dirty as hell and the inside doesn't bear thinking about. What with doing longer hours (leave at 6am get home at 7-8pm) and having less cash, getting her sorted has been fairly hard. I was about to sell her for a silly amout of money, just to get enough cash together to get a van. I was going to be gutted to sell her coz even tho she's been playing up, she's a bit like one of the family!! I'm sure a few of you know what I mean!! Kind of salvation came about a month ago in the form of mother-in-law. M I L wants a flat conversion done, and part of the deal was that I could have semi-permanent loan of one of her company vans. Reeeesult - I've now got a lovely Merc Vimto for all my crap to go in, and being diesel, I'm getting about 40-45mpg. It also means I'm not getting shite all over the interior of the 'Rado. After a long chat with the missus, we (I grudgeingly) decided that we would get the 'Rado sorted and sell her on for a reasonable amount. We had a bit more spare cash, and I didn't have to use the 'Rado as a daily, so getting her sorted seemed a possibily. Now, I haven't driven her for a fortnight. Today, we thought we'd take her for a run (45 odd miles - can't afford to go further lol!) just to make sure nothing seizes, all's running ok (as well as can be expected anyway). I have had the biggest smile on my face this afternoon - even tho a couple of months ago, I would have let her go for stupid money coz she'd been playing up, and the clutch is going and all the rest, I sooooooo enjoyed driving the old girl. The noise, the driving position, the acceleration, the whole lot put a mahooooooosive grin on my face - it was like being 6 again! In a few seconds, I knew I could never sell her!!! Just need to get those things sorted now, and it looks like I've got my weekend baby, just as I wanted. Money will be propper propper tight with running 3 vehicles, but I'm going to have to find a way. Sorry about the long post, but I felt I had to share some of my emotions with you guys (I don't normaly share feelings with anyone!!). If anybody fancies giving me a hand to sort out some of the old girl's problems, feel free to say!!!! Even the wife agrees, 'we shouldn't sell something that make you so happy', so all I can say at the moment is reeeeeeeeeeeeeesult!!!! Cheers for reading and all the best - Tim

Hi everybody! I'm in the position to purchase a van for work - budget is £3500 max. I've been looking at the following: Fiat/Citroen/Peugeot Scudo/Dispatch/Expert - prolly the JTD version Nissan/LDV Vanette/Cub Mercedes Vito (108 or 110) Volkswagen Transporter Toyota Hiace Need it for tool transportation, and for lugging general building materials like plaster board (on a roof rack - 8x4 foot sheets!!), copper piping/osma piping etc etc et al. Anyone had any experience with any of the above vans? Pros and cons? Anyone got one for sale? Any other suggestions I may have missed? All input greatfully recieved! TIA Timmaaah On a down note, may well have to get rid of the 'rado :( :( :(

Nobody near me to the rescue :( ? Help a fellow 'rado [strike:3gyyi67d]spender[/strike:3gyyi67d] owner?
-
Bigpants baby - is that one I can try or one I can buy? Only problem is I need to try one before buying a new one, and unless you're up here visiting a round trip of 500 miles is a bit too far - unless of course no one a bit more lcoal to me can help out!!!
-
Reggit - don't think it's the lambda - that was replaced 5-6 weeks ago - when the lambda was knackered I was still averaging 25mpg!
-
Hi all - poorly vr6 - been getting shocking mpg recently - like 17mpg if I'm really careful  . Also, when you take your foot off the gas, the engine tries to stall, then hunts up and down for a minute or two. After searching on this fine site I think it's probably the maf. I tried umplugging the maf whilst the engine was running and it made no difference, ie the engine revs stayed the same. Can anbody near me (Reepham/Norwich) let me try their maf before I shell out £216.53 with VW for a new one? I think it should only take a few minutes, as the symptoms are so bad. It's a 94 and has got the 6 pin connector (part no 021906461). I'm on holiday all this week, and need to try and get it sorted asap if I can. Thanks all in advance - Tim

Aaaaaages ago, my old man and I had a cracking wheeze of building a buggy/go kart from scratch. The intial plan was for a basic chassis,no suspension and a lawnmower engine as a power pack. The build has evolved over the years, and it's a bit different. Power is now from a 2CV mid mounted engine, with independant front and rear suspension. Ok, not the most powerful engine ever built, but bear in mind the weight, ie none, and the fact your arse will be abount 4 inches off the deck!!! We only spend a couple of hours every other week or so doing it, but it's been really good fun. We're starting to get close to the finish, with the rear suspension done, and the front nearly finished. This has been built from scratch using various bit n bobs. The front and rear shocks are from a motor cycle and the engine a complete unit, but everything else has been fabricated. Neither my dad or myself are mechanics/welders etc etc, but are keen to give things a go. One of the other reasons for it taking so long is we keep changing our minds lol! I'll bung some pictures up at some point, if anyone's interested. Cheers for reading

MOT Failure - CO2 emissions help! - UPDATE NOW PASSED
timmaaah replied to timmaaah's topic in Engine Bay
Right - cheers for all the above help - you'll all be pleased another rado has passed the dreaded mot for another year!! Lambda was replaced and gave readings as below fast idle co 0.027% hc 14 ppm Lambda 1.030 Natural idle 0.018% Woohoo!!!!! ......but, she's running really rough - got a nice steady idle, but if you blip the thottle, it'll missfire and the exhaust will pop - got a small leak being sorted on the zorst in a couple of weeks - really need to run it up on vag-com like you guys say - anyone near me? I'll pop over to the sticky and see who's near me and give them a pm - thanks all for your help - just got to get the beast running better now!!! Tim -
MOT Failure - CO2 emissions help! - UPDATE NOW PASSED
timmaaah replied to timmaaah's topic in Engine Bay
Free beer now offered (please read terms and conditions!!!) -
Hi all - just got the car back from the (failed) mot (local place near where I work)! Got inner rear (front wishbone) suspension arm bushed deteriorated resulting in excessive movment in both sides  being fixed tomorrow, but also got failed on emissions as below Fast idle: CO 6.416% HC 149ppm Lambda .805 2nd fast idle CO 6.062% HC 163ppm Lambda .811 Natural idle CO 7.23% A while ago, on it's last service, I informed the dealer (who no longer has anything to do with the car coz they're a bunch of chimps!)that the fuel consumption had got really bad. They said they'd have a look, and came back with 'intermittant fault with the lambda and an intermittant fault with the electric throttle(?)' Seeing as they wanted more cash to look into it further, I thought I'd just live with the poor mpg. I have noticed that there is a fair amount of sooty residue around the exhaust, and if you boot it, a small black cloud come out the rear. Coupled with the poo mpg, I guess the car is running rich. Is it likely to be the lambda prob borked, or the tps (wich is what the dealer thought the 'electric throttle' was!)? Cash is tight - especially with the above suspension work to be done, and the place doing the mot work can't say it's definately the lambda. Any ideas? Want to sort tomorrow, so a quick response would be really great. tia Tim ('94 VR6) On a side note, sometimes get a bad missfire in 1st and 2nd gears whilst accelerating hard - coil pack? (*free beer offered with both parents, parents parents and parents parents parents being present at time of disclosure!) I really need help with this tonight as my beer tokens are gonna run out!!!

Understanding the Haynes book of lies (aka Manual) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Haynes Manual's Explained Haynes: Rotate anticlockwise. Translation: Clamp with visegrips then beat repeatedly with hammer anticlockwise. Haynes: This is a snug fit. Translation: Clamp with visegrips then beat repeatedly with hammer. Haynes: This is a tight fit. Translation: Clamp with visegrips then beat repeatedly with a hammer. Haynes: As described in Chapter 7... Translation: That'll teach you not to read through before you start. Now you are looking at scary photos of the inside of a gearbox. Haynes: Pry... Translation: Hammer a screwdriver into... Haynes: Undo... Translation: Go buy a tin of WD40 (giant economy size). Haynes: Retain tiny spring... Translation: PINGGGG - "Jesus, where the hell did that go?" Haynes: Press and rotate to remove bulb... Translation: OK - that's the glass bit off, now fetch some good pliers to dig out the bayonet part (and maybe a band-aid or two). Haynes: Lightly... Translation: Start off lightly and build up till the veins on your forehead are throbbing then clamp with visegrips then beat repeatedly with hammer. Haynes: Weekly checks... Translation: If it isn't broken don't fix it. Haynes: Routine maintenance... Translation: If it isn't broken, it's about to be. We warned. Haynes: One spanner rating. Haynes: Three spanner rating. Translation: Make sure you won't need your motor bike for a couple of days. Haynes: Four spanner rating. Translation: You're not seriously considering this are you? Translation: Prepare to humiliate yourself in front of someone you know. Haynes: Turning the engine will be easier with the spark plugs removed. Translation: However, starting the engine afterwards will be much harder. Once that sinking pit of your stomach feeling has subsided, you can start to feel deeply ashamed as you gingerly refit the spark plugs. Haynes: Refitting is the reverse sequence to removal.
