  1. Mines fairly dirty - hasn't been washed for a couple of weeks - I think I'd better give the old number plate a quick clean before I leave!!
  2. An extremely dirty dark colour - poss N or M plate parked outside Norwich and Peterborough in Swaffham this afternoon - about 10 mins ago!! Anyone?
  3. Ok - I'll check the hoses in a bit. If it is the stat - how big a job is it - I'm guessing not a 10 min job? Prob goes like this: Drain system, skin knuckles getting to a really inaccessable bit of the car, put new stat in, re-fill system - start car - car over-heats coz I've put the stat in back to front - curse, and start all over again? I know that sounds like I'm talking from experience, but that was about 10 years ago on an old Sierra!!!
  4. Only mod is an induction kit - oil temp normally around 80 - 85 degrees. I suppose there's no way of checking the stat unless you get it out - as it were!!! I'm getting heat from the heater, and the engine seems warm after only a couple of mins. Will the temp sender affect the fueling mixture or anything - or should I not let it worry me?
  5. My normal journey to work is a fairly constant 60mph (!!). When I bought my car a few months ago, with the nice weather, the car would heat up to just over the 70 mark, and stay there. Now, with the colder weather, the temp guage hardly seems to get off the rest. I get hot air from the vents after just a couple of mins. If the car sits in traffic, the temp will climb up to 90 and stay there, only to drop back to 70 when back upto speed. I've tried the search, but can't seem to find anything. So, any ideas? Thermostat? Sensor fault? Or should I not even worry? Don't know if the temp gauge will affect how the car runs? Help - please put me out of my misery!!!! Oh, by the way, I'm a bit green when it comes to 'fiddlin' in the engine, but willing to give it a go!! - '94 VR6 by the way!!
  6. She's just been in for her 1st MOT (with me at any rate!). I was watching, thinking 'Oh heck - just what will it fail on, how much will it cost' and generally working myself up, when the nice tester man came over and said 'All sorted mate'. :D :D So, after much nail biting and worry due to the 'rado being a fickle beast - I was dead chuffed that she went straight thru - with-out costing a penny - well, apart from the test fee - but you can't really complain at that!!! So, to summarise, I just thought I'd share some good news with everybody - but now knowing my luck, it'll prolly blow up on the way home or something!!! D'oh!!!!
  7. Even got me old man playing - but he's a bit vague!! Here goes: 'Dark' coloured 'rado - N plate hooning past his little car on the Acle straight - heading towards Gt Yarmouth. Anybody here - sorry for the limited discription tho!!
  8. My bird is fecked in the head- - but she's sure she saw a Nugget Yellow 'Rado on the Reepham Road between Thorpe Marriott and Hellesdon on Weds or Thurs night, approx 5.30 pm. Any takers here? She's just asked, 'Am I going nuts?'
  9. Just popped up the shop to get some stuff - got home, parked up, got out and heard a funny hissing noise. 'Is it a snake?' I thought to myself, gingerly approaching the rear of the car. 'Oh no, its just a screw embedded in my nice new (1500 miles) rear tyre, that's much better than a poxy old snake!!' So, it's pouring down, and I have to change the wheel (I need the car tommorrow). I'm now soaked - I've got a cr*ppy space saver on the back that'll go to an amazing 50 mph, and I'm totally hacked off. Anyhoo - rant over - anyone think this is repaireable, or is it new tyre o'clock? Not even sure of the best place to take it if it is. Someone, please help me - before I drown my sorrows with a few pints of Stella!!!!
  10. Hello everybody - I'm prolly gonna uprate my headlight loom - but I'm a bit confused with regarding measering the voltage before and after. I'm not a div, but I can't for the life of me work out where to take my readings from. Do take it I take a reading direct off the battery, and compare it to a reading taken from the connectors on the bulb's + and -? I think I had too much beer last night, and I'm just confusing myself!! Any pointers would be really helpful - cheers! :)
  11. Saw I think an M plate dark colour possibly a VR6 in one of the industrial thingies near Lenwade - anyone here? Sorry it's a bit vague, but I was late for an appointment and couldn't give it a good looking at, seeing as how my attention was on the road! Ahem!!!!
  12. Has anybody here had dealings with Clive Atthowe's? Thinking of taking my car there for a tune up etc - but would like to know if anyone has had dealings with them. What they are like, do they know stuff - that kinda thing. Cheers y'all!
  13. Anybody in Norfolk/Norwich with VAG-COM? Just want to check!! It's got the OBD2 style connector.
  14. Blue 'rado on Fakenham road, going thru Lenwade? Spotted by my missus in her Saxo this afternoon at 14:30? She's ask me to put up a post - so here y are!!
  15. A red 'Rado seen along the A47 this morning between King's Lynn and Swaffham- about 08.30ish? Any takers?
  16. The service book looked so nice with all the VW stamps in it, that I thought I'd keep up the tradition! :-P Actually, the service book will make you laugh - some of the service intervals are at 6 months, but only with, say, 1000 miles between services!!ie 24/04/98 12104 05/11/98 13438 13/05/99 14500 19/10/99 15560! Beat that......if you can!!
  17. Oh bums - you're quite correct. It's rtight there on page 49. I feel sooooo stoopid  . I guess it's all the excitement of my new car - like I say - I've only had her two weeks and I'm only just coming down from the ceiling! Still, at least I haven't embarrased myself too much, or have I? Answers on a post card please folks!
  18. I've only read the owners manual - nowt in there. I haven't got a RTFM. Where can I get one - do I go to W H smiths and say 'Hey, give me a f****** manual?" Only messin wid ya! Just amazed really - that's all i can say. Still, that's what I get for driving a French car for 4 years!! lol
  19. I have just this second noticed if I leave the indicator stalk as if I was pulling into the curb (ie near side) then the corresponding side lights (front and rear) stay illuminated after the car is locked. Conversly, if I leave the indicator stalk as if I was pulling away from the curb (ie off side) the offside side lights remain illuminated! I don't know if anybody else has noticed/knew about/even cared, but I've only had me 'rado for two weeks, and it's all amazing - esp after 4 years of a poor little Renault 19 16valve! I'm sure I'll get a blolocking for putting THAT on here, but ho hum. Just out of interest, has any-one else noticed this amazing phenomenon, or am I just a cokc?
  20. Hi all - just got myself a 94 vr6  Just had an 80k service  I've got the service done with my local vw dealer. Ever since getting the car back, it idles like dog poop - and it misses when I 'blip' the throttle. If I slowly bring the revs up to pull away from a junction etc, it'll increase revs ok, but put it under load and it won't. Also, putting my foot flat on the floor to get the revs up also makes it miss, but put my foot down slowly, it's fine. Have they messed my car up, or am I mising summat? Should I take the car back to them, and demand they sort it or I'll get medieval on their bottoms!!??!!
