  1. Hi - I've tried the search, but there is so much information that I'm starting to get confused. As you know, my VR is now back on the road. I think it will be worth while replacing all of the suspension bushes. I was thinking about using oem bushes, but what do polybushes have to offer? I also want to lower/fill the wheel arches, as it currently has the 4x4 ride height, which looks daft. I'm not after a massive drop. Are coilovers what I need? I seem to see that 16" wheels are a good compromise between handling and comfort. I would like the car to be comfortable for normal driving but stiff enough to enjoy some twisty roads. Any advice would be gratefully received. :)
  2. Well I was on there click - I've been deleted :( I'll add myself again
  3. Huzzah - she now has a lovely shiny MOT!! I'm picking her up on Sat morning. To say I'm excited is a bit of an understatement!! YAY!!!
  4. All the above work has been done - they put her in for an MOT test, but the front callipers have seized. The bleed nipples are pretty ropey, so just a set of front callipers to go and she'll be back on the road! The lack of brake force was the only thing she failed on - not bad, eh? (Yeah yeah - I know about all the other work, but that's all consumable bits anyway ) The final bill will be about £200 more than the estimate, so all in all I'm pretty freakin chuffed :)
  5. Here Just unbelievable - what a heap of crap!! It's a 2 litre Pug 406 coupé underneath. You though the Corrado had a 4x4 ride height  :pukeleft::pukeleft::shock::eek:
  6. Cheers for the kind words! Work has started today - I'll keep you all updated :)
  7. Well - fwiw the missus and I had a chat, and.... The garage will be doing all the work :) I have a huge emotional attachment to this car - she's one of the things that kept me sane through some **** I had to deal with a few years ago - expect an update in a few weeks one it's all been done :/ :)
  8. My VR has been off the road for the last four years. The clutch was on it's way out, so she's just gone off the have that replaced - however - the garage has found some issues that will need resolving: New discs and pads all round OSF wheel bearing Both drop link (?) arms All brake lines to be replaced OSF inner gaiter split Both flexi rear pipes to be replaced ARB bushes Clutch slave cyl and release bearing. OUCH! The car runs (I started just last week). The bodywork is fairly reasonable and the sunroof and spoiler still work though!! 124,000 miles. I've been quoted £1500 for the above work. I really don't know if I should spend the money or not. I'm so confused. I could do some of the work myself I guess to save a few quid. The things I can do: Discs and pads Brake lines Flexi hoses Things I don't know if I can do: Link arms (whatever those are) OSF gaitor ARB bushes (How easy/hard is that) Wheel bearing (^^^^^^^^^^) The things I don't want to do: Clutch Aaargh - please give me some words of advice :) parts 450 +vat Labor 800 + vat
  9. Hi all - long time no see. What with one thing and another, my '94 VR hasn't been started in over a year, and not been driven for longer than that. I'm now in a position to (hopefully) get her back on the road. When she was laid up, she needed (and still will) a clutch (that is in hand). I thought I'd just jump start her to check everything else is ok. All I can hear is a click noise from the engine bay, but she won't turn over - the revs drop on the car doing the jumping, but that is all. Any ideas? Anybody near me want to give me a hand? The dash lights up correctly - the lights work etc, so power is getting through. I really would like to get the old girl running again. I've managed to keep her through some tough times and can now get her sorted. Any pointers/suggestions/offers of help would really be appreciated. It's a bit fiddly to work on as I have no garage, and it's cold in the evenings, but hey ho I really want to get her back up and running again. All the best Tim
  10. think this was the time they changed the style of the V5 making it harder to forge... I remember getting issued a new V5 for my corrado round about that time... Should have elaborated: Car was originally registered in Guernsey in 1994 and registered in the uk in 2001. It states on the V5, at the bottom - Declared manufactured 1994. I guess she got an appropriate year reg (L) when she was registered here. but just idly wondered if I could get a newer plate. Just thinking out loud :D
  11. According to my V5, the date of first registration of my girl was 01 10 2001! Could I get a newer number plate for it, ie AU51 123 or summat? Just wondering like :)
  12. Great find - enjoyed reading that :)
  13. Long story short: Have a 2009 Pug 107 as the daily (VR being rebuilt/repaired/having loads of cash thrown at it etc etc et al), but what with our little one (and maybe another soon) we seriously need a bigger car. I reckon we'll get 5k easy for the little 107 and we have a few pounds saved up. Missus likes the idea of a Ford Mucous (poss estate) - circa 2006. What other options are there? I'd like something with a bit more charisma than a Mucous. Performance wise, anything has to be better than the teenytiny 998cc engine (top speed 98mph my hairy testicles  ), but I'd like something a bit more refined. Over to you....... :D /edit - needs to be reliable and will eventually be the daily hack when swmbo goes back to work (hope to have the VR for ferrying the little'uns by then) but I'd like something a bit nicer/interesting in the meantime :D
  14. Cheers dude. What a tool. Would have been better if she'd tried to stop it by placing herself in-between the car and the wall. One less future Darwin candidate perhaps.
  15. The first vid has been pulled - anyone got an alternative link?
  16. Luckily in the missus's pug - we've some shocking roads out our way and an encounter with one has bent the inside rim to the extent that it will not hold air. Is it fixable? What kind of cost would be involved? Anyone know a good wheel referber in Norwich? Cheers in advance Timmaaah
  17. I think you need to look at the standard of your driving if you've been 'pulled' over twenty five times in four years. In 17 years of driving (including driving at night), I've been pulled over twice. Once for having a missing front numberplate (It had been smashed a few days before hand, and I hadn't had time to fix it) on my first car. Got a seven day wonder. The second time for doing a huuuuge burnout in front of a copper who was on a bike (didn't see him) - this was in my mkII Granada - 2.8i :norty: and my 4th car (was about 20 ish at the time). Was very apologetic and humble, and just got a non endorse-able £30 fixed ticket for 'Failing to have proper control' :D . I've been pulled over 0 times in the last 12 years - 5 of which I've driven the 'rado. There must be something seriously wrong with your driving style, or failing that, you have a marker on your car for your confrontational attitude to be pulled that many times. Maybe just chill a bit, or sort out your driving
  18. But there is no obligation to - when joining a carriageway, the joinee must give way to traffic already on the carriageway  . What boils my piss is People who try and join a (dual) carriageway, but don't indicate. This will guarantee that I will not deviate one jot from my course if I am already on said carriageway. People who try and join a (dual) carriageway but will only accelerate at the same rate as a dysentery ridden snail. Poor lane discipline. That is all :mad2:
  19. If you scroll to the top off all the markers, you'll see the edit button. Click on that, then scroll back down to your marker, click once on that, and hey presto - you can edit your details. When finished, click ok on the marker box, then scroll back up through the markers, and you'll see a 'done' button. I've removed you reg no for you though!
  20. Done, but no reg/plate info. What year/reg mate, and I'll update it?
  21. All done - check you're happy with details etc :)
