Just bought some Auto-Maxi roof bars from Wilco - type 3/AM-3 seem to fit a treat and a snip at £68.99. Will try and post up a bit more info with some useage (bikes, boxes and even a canoe!!) A couple of fitted pics (excuse the dirt  ) Cheers y'all - Timmaaah

Whilst pulling away from a junction rather quickly this morning, my abs warning light came flying towards me! Thought it had just come loose, but on closer inspection I can see the plastic surroung has cracked. Cats bottoms. What options have I got - will it glue, or is it a new section - if so, how much will it be and how easy is it (not!) to fit? Cheers for looking and for any help offered in advance.

OK - ta for input - I currently used AG Polishing cloths, but gonna give the foam pads a whirl. Will let you know how I get on. Cheers.

Parked up outside work a couple of days ago! Someone here had the back end of a 'rado for a trailer as their avatar, but here is a whole car (just about)!!!

Rob - I have seen your proceedure before and think it's brill and have followed it before with fab results, just that the last time I did it by hand, I thought my arms were gonna fall off the next day!!!! Thought this would remove the ache/stiffness factor, being a lazy get and all!

Just seen thisat Woolies for 17 and a half quid - any good for the price? Worth a punt? Not sure if this shouold be here or in the Suppliers section. TIA - Timmaaah

Well - cheers for your replies. Tried both speakers with the amp - the pio's sounded pretty good, but then my mate let me try his sub in my car seeing as the cables were there - sounded brill, so now I have the JBL's in the shelf with a 12" sub - banging, much more controllable low down grunt!! The reason I was not too keen on a sub was A: Loss of space and B: Worried about the 'boy racer' image. A: - removeable sub box/amp combo leaves the 6x9's in place for hols/shopping etc and B: only if you turn it up enough to melt your ears!! Like I said tho, thanks - Timmaaah

Hiyo all. I'm in the process of kind of upgrading the audio in me motor. Not after huge sounds, just a bit of quality/bass. Don't want a sub - takes up too much room. Current system comprises of: Pioneer KEPH7020R Head Unit JBL GTO936E's in stealth shelf (Bought spur of the moment!!) Kenwood KEC1387 in the front door pods (Previous owner had these in the stealth shelf  !) Standard front tweeters. Not bad sound, but a bit loose, if you know what I mean! I'm considering putting in an old amp I've got knocking around - a Sencor SCA250 (100w per chn rms). I also have a pair of Pioneer TS2150 speakers I haven't used for a couple of years, but they are still in very good condition - poly carbonate cones, so no paper to dissolve - also the connecting sponge/foam is good, not flaking or owt. These bad boys are an 8" cone with metal mid and top end tweeters in. Frequency is 28-28,000 Hz and they are rated at 50 watts rms (peak 200w rms). They look good, are well finished, and had a retail value of about £200 6 or 7 years ago, but they will be a sod to fit in the stealth shelf, but not impossible. The JBL spec is 6x9 - 50-21,000 Hz and 100w rms (peak 300w rms). The look crap in comparison, cost about 2 pence and the tweeters look like they've been made by my mum!!! They do, however, already live in the stealth shelf. Either set of speakers will be powered by my amp. On paper, the Pioneers have waaaaaaay better frequency response, but will the JBL's 'thump' better, being an all poly card cone and rubber joiner and a newer, albeit cheaper, speaker? So, to summarise, do I ditch the JBL's in favour of the Pioneers, or leave the JBL's in? Any feedback/insults/saying do summat different/your ideas/comments etc would be really appreciated!!! tia - Timmaaah

slightly OT, but are you missing an inlet manifold bolt there big fella? I've just compared your second pic with mine, and I've deffo got a bolt in mine!!

Your setup is different to mine. When I pull these two fuses - no alrm, When I out them back - alarm. You've got three on yours - does your alarm 'chirp' when you set it? If it does, you've got the siren backup (which I haven't), which is probably what your third fuse is all about. Sorry about the poor pic, but the fuses are 7.5 and 15 amps. Hope this helps a bit - Timmaaah

Where abouts do you want me to look buddy?

Maybe that's why Top Gear haven't been allowed to take it round the track, coz for all the power and top speed tags it's got (had!) it handles like a shopping trolley?!? "Bugatti Veyron - looks like a fish, moves like a fish, steers like a cow!"

Right - had a closer look in the daylight with a mate. The weight was ok but there is a rubber oblong underneath around which goes a metal clasp/oblong clip that is on the end of the gear selector cable, and the rubber had come adrift from the metal band. After removing the weight and much prodding and cursing, we managed to get the rubber back into the metal clip and also the locating peg into the correct hole. Put the weight back on and now seems to be ok (touch wood). Will see how it goes after a couple of days and keep an eye on it. Cheers mattkh for your info :salute:

Right - I've had a poke about near the gearbox, and have found the linkages. The one pictured is flapping about like a turd in a top hat - it looks like there should be a metal ring around a rubber bit, and also there is a metal peg that seems to locate into a hole, but it's really loose and comes out. Is this linkage shafted, or is it repaireable - also, does it remove for ease of repairing? Cheers in advance - Timmaaah

Forgot to say '94 VR6 - sorry

Hi all - yet another problem. I'm having trouble with my gears. I've had a search and can't seem to find my exact problem. Sometimes, when I go to pull away in 1st, I lift the clutch, but it's not in gear. If you push the gear stick forward and lift the clutch at the saem time you get a lovely grindy cogs not meshing type noise - a bit like your granny changing gears!! If I put it into second, and then reslect first it seems to pull ok. This morning, whilst doing a hill start, the gear jumped out of first as soon as the clutch came up. I was also having trouble selecting third as well. I've looked at the gear linkage under the gaitor, and my circlip is intact. Any other clues? Thanks in advance. Timmaaah

Hi all - been getting terrible mpg recently - gone from avg 28/32 to 20/22 mpg. That's off the mfi but the miles per tank has also dropped considerably. Had a blowing exhaust until recently, but that's now fixed. Car went for a service, and I asked them to check out the poor mpg - all they came back with is "sporadic faults found with lambda probe and acceleration sender". When I asked ofr clarification, all they said was "we don't really know what the fault is, but book it in and we can try and find it". When I asked for a rough price the response was "we don't know but it will probably be expensive" Also, my car has an electrical acceleration sender thingy? What the hell is that? I thought it was a cable throttle? If you rev the car, the exhaust will pop and crackle, like a small back-fire. Also the car is idleing really badly, sometimes stalling at traffic lights etc. It hunts up and down when you start it as well, but I think that's probobaly the isv needs cleaning? Can anybody please give me a rough clue? Thanks in advance Timmaaah '94 VR6 edit: the car has a K&N cone filter but this was on the car when I bought it.

Here's a few more after a wash today - also a couple of arty shots!!!! Please excuse the poor quality - off me camera - d'oh!

Hi all - got at the mo a K&N cone filter on me vr6, but seriously thinking about a CDA BMC. I do love the noise from the K&N, but it can get on ya tits after a bit. Has anyone running a CDA BMC got a recording from the driving seat to give me an idea of what they sound like? Using the search only seems to bring up the K&N kit, which I know exactly what it sounds like! Hope someone can help. Cheers y'all Timmaaah
