  1. looks great and i'm sure 10 times better in the sun! liking all the matching illuminations too. i should go out in an auto one day - would be interesting to feel what the difference in feel to the engine is :)
  2. wasnt there an issue with VAT with the last one or was that going from Jersey to the IOM? cant remember which way round it was?!

    Audi TT

wow, i didn't realise A3s were so cheap  not that i'd want one, i much prefer the tt as well, but only double the price of a C for a car a 3rd of the age..
  5. taking the head off is a big job and there's no need if you're not actually rebuilding it. upper intake manifold and rocker cover gaskets would be worth doing yes.
  6. it would be dual chain if its the original engine. 120k kms isn't too bad and depends how you're doing the job to be honest, but if you're doing it yourself and taking the engine out then it would make sense to do thermostat housing, crack pipe and water pump at the same time if you're feeling generous. make sure you do the clutch release bearing as well as the plate too. when the dollar was better then chain/tensioner kits from the US (fourseasonstuning.com etc) were worth getting but you probably wont save that much now..
  7. thanks mate, will give it a try on some solitudes i have one day!!
  8. and the whole sanding business Karl, is that reasonable enough to do by hand or is it a long old process? any tools make it easier?
  9. what would be the reason to go for that one shaun, seeing as its 50% heavier than the fidanza? cheers john
  10. do you think you have to have it in red? :?

    ODB 1 or 2?

all corrados are OBD1 unless converted at a later date. mk3 golfs went obd2 from 95 onwards.

    Vinyl Car Wraps

yeah, the guy i work with who has a 996 GT2 and all his mates are thinking of getting this done in matching designs for a big europe trip they're doing this summer. he's now not sure though because he's considering upgrading to the 997 version before then.. :bad-words:
  14. bad news Mic, shame you have 5 hours less daylight per day to do it in than the summer as well :( will be good to have an engine that you know you could sell on with confidence if you needed though..
  15. received mine too zak, thanks a lot!
  16. amazing, want to do mine next?!
  17. boost monkey put up a pic in another thread like this a while ago but i can't find the thread for now.. its still there somewhere though!

    Paint Codes

this is the most comprehensive corrado colour site afaik - in german but that doesn't affect the pictures :)
  19. Has anyone done a Schrick / VSR, Schimmel 263 cams, BMC filter and big bore throttle yet? In the good old days that setup (but with Schrick 268s) used to make 220-225hp on a healthy VR6. And that was on 97 RON fuel. I reckon with 99 RON V power and the 263s, it's gotta be knocking on the doors of 240hp? I wish V power and the 263s were around when I fitted my Schrick + 268s 5 years ago :? Was never particularly bowled over by that combo tbh. I felt it was a very small gain for the outlay, hence my earlier remark :D _leon_ has 263s and is on the look out for a schrick and an induction kit. so I think he'll be the first one to be N/A with the cams and manifold (philmo has both but is vortech'd).
  20. div-x player (free-to-download) worked for me in the end. avi files are always a pita.. nice lock up though, didn't make him look guilty at all!
  21. well researched list you've got there! all of it is definitely worth doing although moonroof doesn't look quite original enough for my taste. without stating the obvious, dont spend £350 on a remap before you know what you want from the engine. turbo is popular but will cost you the best part of £4k unless you do a lot of it yourself. supercharger fitted by a garage and mapped would be about £2.5k. cams plus map would be £500-600. (all assuming brand new parts). KW coils and Magnex exhausts are the most popular middle to high cost options but plenty of other good suspension for a bit more or a bit less (Weitec/Koni/H&R) and you can always get a custom exhaust for not much more than a branded one. aside from all that it depends how shiny you want everything, theres a lot of bits that begin to show their age which you can just replace for looks rather than the fact that they dont work anymore! good luck!

    Vr6 Clutchplate

nothing in the history of my car said the clutch had been done in its 140k miles and when we did the chains & tensioners i had the same thought as you as there seemed to be almost no difference to the 3k clutch that we were putting in. with mine it was the release bearing that really improved things, and the chain guides definitely needed doing too so dont worry too much that you have taken it apart for no reason! :)
  23. here :) also, i guess all those weights are in lbs as its from an american site.. 1lb = 0.454kg :salute:
  24. car looks amazing! is very annoying for the rest of us that black is the only car you can get away with colour matched rims on! :( are you a member of the royal family by the way or do you just manage to blag no numberplates? :)
