  1. yeah, what was he on about?! 8) :D 8)
  2. absolutely, i agree that its a shame when people who move on from corrados dont come on to the forum any more when friendships have been made etc. all i was trying to give were reasons why people might not have replied to the thread much :confused4:. can't remember if you set up a seperate members gallery for it but i thought maybe people might comment more in there rather than in a car care thread? think there are plenty of other cars that people on here are interested in seeing but obviously there wont be so many comments on them, thats all, nothing more than that intended. :salute:
  3. looks good and i wouldn't want to speak for anyone else but i dont think its that people are bmw haters.. its just that its a car care thread and i get the feeling that theres not always so much interest on here for "dirty car gets clean through use of cleaning products" threads ;). when there is its mostly cos its a nice corrado which people are complimenting, and nice as your car is, its not a C or even another vag model.
  4. might sound like an obvious point but you know it does this before it reaches 50 degrees right?!
  5. like those new pics a lot charlie, motorsport theme is cool 8)
  6. thanks Steve & Mic, good news! am slightly puzzled why talk of mixed kits ever arose now?! anyway, will get them ordered up tomorrow. forum time is seriously limited at the moment as its blocked at work and my laptop at home has just died! :(
  7. what worries me is that the car in the background to the right in the first pic might be the front of the corrado and the rear of the Mk1 joined the other way round. like its evil reverse twin :gag:
  8. Ok, so am about to put 288mm brakes from a late Golf VR on the front of my car. Have been trying to look around for the best place to get the mixed set of Goodridge hoses from because I heard that the normally recommended C&R were a bit unreliable these days. However, in discussing this with a few suppliers and also Mic_VR who has a full set of Mk3 Goodridges, it seems that these may well be fine for the C all round. Mic has said that the middle-rear pair of hoses in the Mk3 set are identical to the Corrado's and he suspected the rears were as well. Secondly, after that, I got a call back from C&R and their tech guy said both rear pairs from the Golf kit were identical to the Corrado. Does anyone know this for sure? I can get a mixed set from Demon Tweeks but they're more expensive and might not arrive in time, or C&R, although they now dont think i need to do this. Just to be clear, not asking for suppliers, just confirmation that the rear 4 hoses in a Mk3 Golf kit would work just as well on the C! Cheers John
  9. are you going to get some paint on them? might look ok then?
  10. what are you doing striking up relationships with 22 year old girls in germany over the internet andy???!!
  11. £4k+ should be safely worth that if it has leather and even if not if its as good as you say...
  12. Blimey, that's quite a bit of a bargain! Is that a 2.9 or a 2.8 though? 2.9 - he asked whether golf or corrado and also for the engine code, said they'd done enough of them now to knock them out cheap (although as they're rebuilding i don't know how their costs can reduce over time?!) didn't ask that steve but tbh, if its 8-10 years till you've got to worry about it again then i probably wouldn't be that bothered! and i guess they wouldn't be that much effort to change if you wanted to before you installed it anyway?
  13. I spoke to Vege a couple of weeks ago out of interest and their price for a 2.9 ABV VR was £1705.56 including VAT and a 10% discount off their standard price. Delivered next day to you for £40 - if you're interested! :)
  14. ^^^ and frankly what better way to spend a weekend than a good ferreting!! thanks Kev, i certainly do trust that it was done properly :salute: (although can easily imagine stealth seeing quite a few that arent) hence just wondering about what else might cause a noticeable variation.. and going back a few posts, yes I am watching it closely because the price of driving is a nightmare, but i dont expect more power for free!
  15. Cheers Jay, the remap is definitely needed as it theres definitely more power  but not always evenly up the revs pretty certain they are Stu but will check everything again! cheers for your helping hands on saturday too! No gallery yet Jim but have some shots from the weekend that will be used to get one going soon! It certainly is a roar, theres a point where the whole car resonates around 4k! :) yeah, I dont remember complaining about the mpg - just asking if anyone could think of anything untoward with the engine that could be causing it to be lower? you know, seeing as a man that some people think knows what he's talking about said it shouldn't have changed.. :?
  16. lol, yeah i understand that its very tempting to use the additional power thats there but i have tried to drive it differently for a reasonable comparison eg. Monday normal driving to work = low 20s mpg when normally it would be 27-28, Monday very careful driving home from work, low 30s mpg. so, being careful it gives the same results, driving normally it gave worse than normal results.. ECU reset would be an idea though i guess, can someone remind me how to do it? I did watch Vince once but didn't really pay enough attention..
  17. After a mammoth weekend of work by Toad and Peanut on my car I finally got home at 2.30 on Sunday morning with a new clutch, new chains/tensioner, new head, new cams, BMC filter, new water pump, thermostat housing etc etc etc. Very, very grateful to them and to Nikki for a great bbq and being so patient while her weekend was monopolised! The car feels dramatically different (in a good way  ) - really willing to rev and surge forward whenever I put my foot down now. The only slightly unexpected thing is about a 5mpg impact on fuel consumption if i drive it at all enthusiastically (above 2.5-3k).. Obviously it hasn't been remapped yet but when I spoke to Vince about this he said higher fuel consumption might be a slight timing issue. I know we checked this carefully but I just wondered if anyone else had any theories about whether that or anything else which might mean the car was a bit more thirsty? Thanks for any ideas! John
  18. seems to only cover early vr's and not the later ones with the 288s so i dont think they'd be right.. could be wrong though
  19. i like the rx's, half cos i used to have some, half cos i still cant believe how cheap they were and half cos they just look good in black too! supert's are cool as well though but just really different - its kind of like having 2 different cars and like you say, if the whole car's gonna have a theme then eventually one set of wheels wont suit it. nice problem to have though eh?!
  20. Cheers mark, few more things to do , but heading the rite way :D Drive back tomorrow be interesting  ha, i wonder whether there'll be a little detour (like to birmingham or something!) on the way home for a bit of extra road testing!! looks verry nice shaun!
  21. nice one dude, good looking car, glad its got a home on here!
