Sorry to drag this back up but just considering all my options before i start ripping it apart. When you say prices differ between specs do you know what the different specs are etc and roughly how much they are. Cheers... Dan

Just been on the euro car parts website. Altough they didnt have any in stock the callipers are about 70 quid each.

Ive notice the inlet and outlet hoses on my intercooler are cracking. I was thinking about putting samcos on mine. The only thing is ive got a golf fmic and wasnt sure if they would fit. Are you running a standard intercooler for these hoses to work or is there a set you can buy that will fit a fmic. Sorry for so many questions.

Yeah i know theyre quite expensive new, was just not sure wot these second hand set would be worth and also the cost of rebuilding them. That will obviously affect their value.

Think he means are a g60 and 16v cat the same or are they different.

I might have the chance of a second hand set of brakes from a ibiza cupra. Brembo 4 pots,305mm discs etc. The only snag they came off bill brockbanks ibiza and they are very discoloured due to heat. The lad whos selling them has another set so hes changing them for this reason. What do guys reckon theyre worth as they really need stripping down and powder coating and then rebuiling with new seals etc. Do any of you guys have any ideas of how much it will cost to rebuild the callipers. Thanx in advance, dan.

There both nice power figures! I wish mine had that much grunt. Mine was recently rr'd at 207 and around 190lbs/ft. When i can afford a charger rebuild im thinking about getting a full blend, 65mm pulley and some red tops. Hopefully that shud see a few more ponies lol.

From what i understand yes they just bolt up to ur existing g60 carriers.

How much are you paying for a set of pads? I suppose it wont be so bad sacrificing pad life for having good brakes that will also stop u well on the track. I had problems with black diamond discs and pads getting to hot so hoping to switch to a set of these callipers and a different brand of discs and pads and see what the outcome is.

My mate used vr6 callipers on his mk2 20vt golf with g60 discs altough i coudn't say if they were from the 288 or 280 setup.

I think around the 190 to 200 bhp mark the injectors need changing, i remember reading that somewhere. But you also need a different chip to operate these new injectors aswell. Would of thought urs will be putting out more than 200 bhp.

Theres a set of leon cupra bremobo callipers on there at the moment, im not sure how they differ from the ibiza ines tho. last time i checked they were up to about a tenner. They have got about 5 days left to run on them tho. Not sure how to post a link up but i just typed in brembo brakes.

I sometimes get a pop when i change gear too, my exhaust is also blowin slightly, wonder if thats the cause of it kickin flames out on a hard gear change lol.

Ah well atleast it can be done then. Its just a matter of finding a set. Is it a worth while mod then cos the americans seem to rate them. cheers guys.

Just been looking on an american site and found out that there are some twin piston callipers that came off an audi quattro that will bolt straight up to g60 hubs. Has anybody heard of this. Was this audi availabale in the u.k? thanx...

Theres a how to on the vw vortex website. If you go to forums, then under technical, In technical theres aload of different engine types and brakes suspension etc. U will find a g60 engine forum in there and there is a how to guide on how to build a 20v g60 although i had a quick look through and it sounds quite difficult. -

I might be wrong but i think the bore is a different size and the stroke is deffinately different. -
Ive got a mk2 golf for running round in the bad weather. N e way the instrument cluster lights arent working and i suspect the bulbs. Ive got the clocks out of the car but arent sure where the bulbs are or how to change them. Has anybody done these before. Thanx in advance.

Find a crash damaged rallye it should be illleagal to cut up a perfectly good rallye theyre gorgeous. But seriously though it sounds like an intresting project you have in mind

I have to agree stick with some sort of v6. Anything else would spoil the character of the car. Plus they sound absolutely gorgeous.

Yeah ure right they were, but when people stared snapping these kits up the dealers cottoned on to what was happening and bumped the price up. I think just the callipers are about 240 quid each now or thereabouts.

Im not a 100% sure but i think fords are either 4*108 or 4*112 pcd. I know that theyre not the same as vw/vauxhaull fitment. the only thing that worries me is paying for a set of 312mm discs getting them done and finding out it wont work. Brembos are too far out of reach for me at the moment. I previously had black diamond stuff up front and it was never right from the start. Kept getting very hot. also changed fluid and checked for callipers sticking but could only put it down to the discs and pads.

I know that the seat ibiza cupra r had 305mm 4 stud discs but it was fitted with brembos.

Just been looking on the demon vw website and there is a guy on there who had vr6 discs cnc drilled to four stud so that they would fit his mk2 golf. I was wondering if this is a good idea. im after a cheap brake upgrade and i already have a set of 288 vr6 callipers and was thinking about getting some 312mm discs and carriers. If this is worth while how much do ya think it would cost to have the discs done?

How about the plastic panel that houses the rear number plate? More for show though as aposed to weight saving.
