Got some new handbrake cables for my Corrado 2.0l 16v. When I ordered them I was told there were two types but only one type were still available. When I've checked the old cable against the new one the new one doesn't have the metal tubing that goes through the hole between the inside of the car to the outside. Do I just transfer these over? They seem crimped on to me or maybe I have to buy that part separately? I'm sure they're the wrong type though.

Another thing I learned about the k sports is don't go with their own pads go for a different pad I.e ds2500. Have you found the cost of replacement discs for the kit? I think they're quite high but never been able to find out for sure. -

The evo crowd seem to be able to run 8 pots on a 17 inch wheel ok. I've read mixed reviews on ksports but a lot of time attack cars seem to run them without issue. Considering some 6 pot k sports myself as the price of brembos are rediculous now compared to what they used to be. -
Thanks Anne, I think that will be the way forward. I'll get my old one out the tank so I can double check it against the pictures of the pumps. Roger- the car is a 2.0l model but has a 20v turbo engine fitted, well it's actually in bits at the moment but has had a fair chunk of money spent on it.

Bump, anybody know of any alternatives?
-
Cheers Anne t , yeah it's just the lift pump to the main pump. The one I've got is ok but it's as old as the car as far as I know, so I want to put a new one in just to be on the safe side.

Hi guys, I'm looking to source an intank pump for my corrados. It's the 2.0l 16 v model and it will be feeding a Bosch 044 inline pump. I've just enquired at vw and they are no longer available. Seen them on eBay etc but I'm not sure if I trust them or not, pref wanted a genuine vw one as the engine should be knocking out 380 ish bhp and don't want to risk it for the sake of a pattern parts pump. Cheers

My old I pod did this and I couldn't get it to work. I had to wait for the battery to die then charged it up and it worked as normal again after that.

Well here's a couple of boring updates hopefully a couple of exciting ones will be along shortly. So the car had all its underseal stripped off and all the rot was welded up. There wasn't a great deal tbh. Good job as I've never welded a car before. Then on parts of the car where there were small amounts of surface rust I used por15 metal ready and then por15 paint over the top. This is supposed to convert rust and protect it. However I soon found once the full car was painted that in places I could peel the paint off in sheets. This was no good, the metal ready is supposed to convert the rust and etch the surface to mak sure there is a good adhesion of the paint. So the car started to look like this Unfortunately I then spent the next two weeks stripping all the paint back off. I got my new Bosch 044 fuel pump and surge tank from Ie engineering. Pic of the surge tank. It's gonna go in the same place as the original inline 16v fuel pump. ---------- Post added at 9:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:23 PM ---------- Where metal ready was applied to the rust, once the paint had been removed it was obvious that the por15 wasn't that Good as under the paint the treated parts remained rusty. Somebody recommended some deox gel by bilt hammer so I gave it a try. The below part is the front of the sill underneath. The picture shows what it was like after the area had been cleaned up and treated with the bilt hammer stuff. Then acid etch primer was painted over the parts that the rust had been treated like so. I have nearly treated all the rust. I just applied some deox gel to the area and then wrapped it in cling film so that it didn't dry out. ---------- Post added at 9:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:27 PM ---------- It's pretty much at the stage where it needs painting. I bought all my paint last week so that's this weeks/weekends job. I'm going to spray acid etch primer on the rest of the underneath followed by normal primer followed by stone chip - think this is going to be painted on smooth then followed by the colour Which is very very close to this colour. The last bit for now is I've separated my pistons and rods. Rods are getting sent back to integrated engineering to be rifle drilled. School boy error as I never realised they came like that from the factory and thought if they were supposed to be like that then it wouldn't be an option when buying rods. I was assured that it only matters if doing loads of miles but it was bugging me so thought I'd get them done whils in bits. ---------- Post added at 9:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:30 PM ---------- Few pictures from today's antics. Etch primed then primed. Seam sealer hopefully tomorrow. Starting to feel like its getting somewhere now. Hopefully get my subframes powder coated and rebus he'd in the next few weeks then need to start working out my brake and fuel lines.

I didn't everything came off, my cars getting a major overhaul also so it will be built up with new bushes, brake lines etc. I can imagine leaving things on underneath would make it a lot harder.
-
Cool that's the best way and will be worth it. I reckon I caught mine at the right time and not much welding was required. The only thing that bugs me is you can't get all the rust but I'd say you can get 98% of it.
-
Tbh a spit would be easier than being laid under it when the car is on ramps. Depends how far you want to go really. I could tell you the main bits that I found on my car but there are bits of rust that you find also where the underseal is in tact and you think how the hell did that get there. It also gets to you at times and you think about just giving it up, but it is worth it in the end. Would you be removing all the underseal or just the known problem parts on your car?
-
The one that I used to roll mine over picks up on the front and rear chassis legs where the bumpers bolt to. If it were me I'd take the engine out, things like tailgate bumpers and doors off as they're quite heavy. Last of all are you sure you really want to? Lol.

My scuttle cover and lower windscreen trim came today. They look great! Shame it'll be about 6 months before the cars in any sort of state to fit them lol. Thanks James -

Great stuff, thank you -
At the moment I'm not able to view recently sent private messages. The most recent one I can view was back in 2010 but I have sent one today. I'm I doing something wrong?

Ah great, thanks for the info, yeah that one from sp turbo does look like a better solution mind. I went for that as i liked the idea of a surge tank. Theres a possibilty ill do a few track days so the surge tank can only help things. I'll just see how the orginal pump copes and then upgrade from there if need be. The car was originally a 16v so it has an intank and inline pump so i'll just mount this in the original location. Haha no car wont be anywhere near 600hp, it should hopefully be around the 380 ish mark, and as im finding out it costs an absolute fortune, keeps me away from the pub though i guess. Thanks again for the information.

Yeah seems strange your rod snapped ive only ever heard of people bending them. there is a good possibility it could be det as this has a massive impact on cylinder pressures. There are people running alot bigger turbos on standard pistons with 9:5:1 compression so dont think the type of engine is to blame.
-
Ive just finished doing all the welding on my corrado. On the front of the sill i just used some steel to make some patch panels, i guess it would depend how big the hole is. I priced up the fronts of the sills from vw (obosolete) but i think they were around the 120 quid mark from vw.

How much torque is the car producing? i think the general agreed limit as in its not worth taking the risk over and above 300lbft, anything after that and uprated rods are required. Have heard stories of ko4 equipped cars bending rods alot of stories of that on cupra net. I think its to do with the fact a k04 is a relativey quick spooling turbo and can deliver a big dollop of torque low down. On a side note Fishwick - I saw somewhere on the net a car like yours running one of integrated engineerings 044 fuel pump and surge tank. I dont suppose it was you was it? Ive just ordered one and was wondering where you found the best place to get fittings from? cheers
