  1. The stuff on the sills and bottom part of the wing is the same as what is used on the floor pan of the car. Underseal? if thats what vw used which i think it is
  2. Very nice, any idea when theyll be ready? Not in any rush just so i can pay the remainder of the balance for both pieces. Cheers
  3. Hi Alex, mine arrived today. Thanks very much for organising this.
  4. Hopefully ill get mine resembling a Corrado again and maybe even finish it, but are they ever finished?
  5. They look excellent. I remember reading that they might have to be modified to fit over kw v3s ?

    20v corrado

Cheers guys. I can't tell you how many times I've questioned myself as to wether I'm doing the right thing. Hopefully once all the hard work is done it should just be a matter of keeping on top of it. The engine is an Aum code from a 2002 golf gti. Tbh I wish I hadn't sold the last one so that's why this one gone this far as it was the next step I would have taken with the old one. Dave do you have any old pictures of it?

    20v corrado

Cheers tricky, yeah the new rods are a bit more up to the job I hope. When its finished im hoping it will be somewhere between 350 - 400 bhp. I havent finished removing all the underseal yet dragon green. But so far ive found a few small patches of surface rust under places where the underseal seemed to be still intact. I would say though for a 16 year old car there isnt much at all and i just hope thats the case for the full underside. There were a few bits that needed welding right at the front of the sill but i belive thats a common place for them to go.

    20v corrado

Took the rotating assembly to be balanced and also the block to be honed etc Had the crank pulley dowelled to the crank Bores of the block have been honed Had the full rotating assembly of the engine balanced which includes crank, rods, pistons, flywheel, pressure plate. Also had new rings gapped to the bores and then fitted to the pistons. If you can remeber the brown staining on them from the pic before and this is what they look like now. pretty much like new. ---------- Post added at 01:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 PM ---------- part of the new clutch which was also balanced and a few more of some bits i have aquired since the last update KW V3s New engine mounts New suspension bushes also new anti rollbars ---------- Post added at 01:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:22 PM ---------- at the moment ive just been stripping the engine bay so that i can grind back some bits of rust and have it painted then hopefully i can built up the subframe with new bushes ect and bolt them back in ready for the engine. Also gonna try and tidy up the wiring as its a mess, its a cobination of messy vw wiring and un needed wiring from the engine conversion. ---------- Post added at 01:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:23 PM ---------- So as of about 5 weeks ago the car has been in a unit. I started to strip the underseal off in the usual places where there are known to be problem areas. i.e under the front wings, inside rear arches etc. I was happy that it wouldnt go any further and i would just treat the problem areas and job done. So the car basically went from this: to this: ---------- Post added at 01:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:24 PM ---------- then to this: ---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 PM ---------- what have i done? lol. I decided, well i was pursuaded to put it on the spit and take all the underneath back to metal a) to make sure it was all ok and b) i would be able to paint it and put all my own protection on it. Two friends loaned me the spit and we set about getting it on, I say we but in reality i just watched and cringed as my car was lifted about like a rag doll and my two friends just got on and got the job done. Sorry i know its rather alot to digest in one go, future updates will be a bit more gradual lol.
  10. Hey all. Been on here a few years and never put a thread on my old G60 Ill put a few pics up of that and my current 20v project. Im just copying and pasting the thread from another forum. I do apologise about the sizes of some of the pics. Hers a couple of my old one. ---------- Post added at 01:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:12 PM ---------- and the new one, well not so new ---------- Post added at 01:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 PM ---------- Decided i wasnt really happy with the car. Enjoyed the summer out of it and decided to make some improvements. Got some cheap brembos to overhaul but think im gonna get some new ones now but worth it just to check they fit under the wheels. They do just  This was her before any work commenced Next up wasnt really happy with the qpeng ecu that was on it so sourced a new DTA ecu from badger five and got it running in a fashion lol engine coming out ---------- Post added at 01:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:16 PM ---------- Then i bought some bits from integrated engineering in the states it mostly consits of forged rods supertech valves and valve train, calico bearings and a few other bits for the engine build I sourced a large port head and took it to a machine shop have new guides fitted valve seats cut and check the head was flat etc. Got it back and fitted all my valves and new springs etc ---------- Post added at 01:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 PM ---------- Also set about swapping over the conrods
  11. Anybody? I have searched just found conflicting information . Cheers
  12. Hey everyone, I'm I right in thinking the fuel tanks on the 16vs are different to the vr and g60? My 20v Corrado is undergoing a bit of surgery and the engine should hopefully be in the 380 bhp area (ish) My car is running the standard fuel pumps at the moment. It was originally a 2l16v. I know I could just fit an inline walboro pump but would the standard lift pump keep up with it. I've heard that if a swirl pot isn't used the inline pump can be starved by the lift pump due to the difference in flow rates. What do people use on their vr6 turbos? I've heard that the tanks can be modified on the vr6s to fit a 255 walboro pump in the tank but I'm unsure if the tanks are the same.
  13. Most of the cars/ members on here are from the UK. There are some from further a field but the vast majority are in the UK. May be better posting this in the Corrado section of vw vortex.

    Gwerks bust?

You might be on to something there lol I've just thrown out my g werks t shirt. Doh. Tbh I had nothing but chew with them back when I had my g60. Wouldn't wish that on anyone but from all the other things I've heard something had to give.
  15. I had a similar problem with a mk3 golf gti turned out to be the Ecu control relay. Worth a try, it was only about a tenner 3 years ago.
  16. Been following this car since I joined the forum. Just when you think it can't get better it does. Which dta are you using? How many coils can it fire separately? I presume its 8. I'm using a dta s40 pro on my 20v Corrado and that only has two coil drivers which I thought was pants as the q peng Ecu it replaced had 4. Very interesting with the dbw throttle that must be relatively new out. You had many dealings with the people at dta? They don't seem to helpful.
  17. Can I change mine to 4 please. When I first posted I didn't realise how many were required to do the car. I would like a full set to do both sides please. Many thanks Dan
  18. Ah cool, what's spool up like on it? That's one thing that's doing my head in trying to decide on a turbo. Really impressive car !
  19. Very nice car mate, I'm building mine up a similar way to you albeit using standard size bore and standard pistons. Hoping for high 300's. What turbo are you running something like a 3071? You have anymore details of your engine spec? I understand if you want to keep it to yourself. Cheers
  20. Lol cheers fellas. Mine too had that constant orange glow from the dash. I'm binning mine off as there's too much to go wrong now. Plus I'm getting my engine bay painted shortly so now is a good time to do it. Only thing I was worried about was it going through an mot. I'm tempted to leave the front speed rings in as I may be tempted to run traction control at some point.
  21. Thanks mate, hopefully it is just the master cylinder as thats the cheap part lol.
  22. Could anyone tell me if there are any differences between servos and master cylinders on corrados with abs and non abs. Looking at deleting my abs completely after searching the net the majority of information i have found is to do with the golf rallyes which is different. Many thanks
