Resurrect this thread instead of starting a fresh. My clutch has gone in my 91 G60. Engines also on its way out, and prob going 1.8T, so an upgrade to a VR6 clutch would be needed anyway, so it makes sense to do it now. Got a quote of £320 for fitting a new G60 clutch, and thought id phone my local vw garage to see how much a VR6 was, to be told they dont sell them as they are. They do it on an exchange basis, and id have to pay a £20 surcharge. Also, they needed to know engine codes. Either AAA or ABT, and either 2.8 or 2.9. Help?! lol.

Engine needs replacing. I know that and have been pushing my luck with it. On thursday night i ended up being towed home by the RAC... clutch has gone. :( The problems never end. Im picking up a 1.3 mk2 tonight (ooo..the power... :( ) and then diliberating (sp) what happens... Could really have done without this. Its going to be fairly close to impossible to find enough money to replace the engine and clutch, and the other niggly problems it has.

If you use the search, im sure you can find everything you need to know. The supercharger is reccomended to be rebuilt about every 30-40 thousand miles by vw i think. You could get it done more often if you wanted to be sure. Price - Gwerks is probably your best bet, and the cost it dependant on standard or upgraded rebuilt. I think prices start around £400. My G60 is a daily driver, and do drive it a fair bit. 45 mile round trip to work and back everyday usually means ill use £40 - £50 worth of fuel, depending on traffic, and how you drive the car.

https://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/ Yes, but no grill aparently.

Ive been looking through the wiki and found the guide for changing the fuel filter on a vr, but there isnt one for the G60. Im assuming its pretty much the same, but just wanted to check with the people in the know before i was to try my hand at it. Cheers all. Nick

Took out my insurance with Elephant to insure my corrado last year and Paid about £925 fully comp with 1 years NC. I recieved my renewal quote, direct from elephant a few weeks ago, and the price was £860. I thought this was a bit sh1t, so went online and used the same details (forgetting my dad, as he no longer lives with me) and got the quote of £730. This has saved me £130 so far... Realising im 21 in about 2 weeks, i thought Id ask elephant to quote me as a 21 yo, to be told that they take this into account. The girl then asked if i wanted my dad on, and i of course replied with "whatever makes it cheaper!" I also tried to ask if i could be insured for 3 weeks, and then re-do it as a 21 yo. She pretty much ignored all my requests, and so i went away and tried a new quote making myself 1 month older, and so a 21 yo for the purpose of the quote. The quote was...... £590.97! So i phoned back and was gonna insure it for 3 weeks, until i was 21, and then re-insure for the whole year, but the bloke who i managed to get through to told me that they would match the quote, all i had to was to give the ref number!! So from a bit of chasing and effort i have successfully saved myself £270. Im pretty chuffed, although it illustrates very well how insurance companies are willing to screw you!!

Does this have a TSR 'pack A' engine or something along those lines? My mate has just dropped 4.5k for a certain pack (i forget which) at TSR and has had nothing but trouble since he got it back, 3 weeks late! Clutch went this weekend for the 2nd time, and hes only had it back 6 weeks! Hope yours is better!! Does look like a nice car tho. Personally I'm not a fan of the rear diffuser, but each to their own!

Is the Corrado eligable for classic car insurance yet?!
-
You suck Some of us really have! :(

Quick question. Would i need the wiring loom that comes with the engine, or can i plug the corrado loom into the engine?

 Thanks for the replys guys. I hope im on to a winner, just a few things i have to sort out. Whoever posted the link to the Quantum Performance Engineering website. :thumbleft: Has been a great help.

Thought Id bring this puppy back to life. Stan 24v, you quoted PSI 3.5k for a 1.8T conversion, drive in drive out. (i think!) Any idea how much they would charge if the engine/loom was supplied? It would probably be best to have a chat with them myself. As you seem to be their sales rep, can i have a name and number please?! :D Ive found a TT 225 bam engine for sale with 14k on the clock. The engine alone is £1200, but for everything (engine/turbo/loom/gbox) it would be £1750. This seems pretty reasonable to me. I can imagine it would be easier to strap the TT engine to the G60 box? Or would it better for driving and in the long run to put the TT one in? I know someone who would most probably rebuild my current 114k G60 gbox for practically nothing which i would probably do anyway. Also, are things like fuel economy better? Do you think it could be done by a farmer whos currently swapping everything over from a 1.6 mk1 golf gti to a 1.1 shell (engine and all), an electrician, and a floppy haired guy who knows not alot?

I saw a GT40 last week. One of the old ones. Just sat at the traffic lights by work. Was loverly.

Im 20. 1 years NC. Live in a nice area. Drive a G60. Pay a touch over £900 FC with Elephant with £250 excess. Ive got to renew in a couple weeks, and had my renewal letter through at the weekend. With my loyal service, an extra years NC my renewal quote was about £50 less! I thought this was a bit sh1t, so a minute ago i did a renewal quote with elephant online (as i have done everything so far) and punched in exactly the same details as they already have, and... It was £200 cheaper...!! Cheeky, rip-off, stealing, mother-truckers!! When i had just passed, everyone was ranting about the 'pass-plus' which was basically non-failable. It took you on the motorway, and with some ins companies this gave you a bit of a discount. Can anyone tell me a worthwhile such course, that all/most ins companies take into account? And money saving tips? Ive put my mother on there as a named driver, and as shes a middle-aged female, it knocks it down a few quid, but anything else? Nick *edit - whats happened?! I cant delete the copy! lol!*

That was my thought. Maybe the track was 'Mildly Moist' :norty:

GPC are cheapest, unless you get a 2nd hand one.
