awesome! 8)

gearbox oil has a distinct smell, quite strong, also its tends to be cleaner than engine oil, also its always cooler than engine oil. If the gearbox level is dropping and you see no leaks besides the one in the centre of the motor likley hood to be the box.

What not to do when stuck in the snow...

ultimate driving machine driven by an idiot..... -
yea they will fit each other but all mk3 obd1 were 2.8 which in turn have the narrow neck on the underside ....all for torque.... apparently
-
well first thing to do is check the engine and gearbox oil and smell the oil leaking to determine if its box or engine oil,it would probably be wise to brake cleaner the hole area off and run it for a while and recheck.

Still waiting on my snow tyres :confused4: at this rate the snow will be gone boo! -
I ordered a set of snow tyres from mytyres and i paid a sun of 65 quid each for budget Nankang Snow SV-2 now they are a 120 quid each!!! thats taking the piss! Easy to see why no one wants to buy winter tyres at that price.

Yea the S3 is a daily keeper and a toy for the summer will be on the card for next year... Brakes are fine,if you hit the brakes hard like any abs system is will react quickly and never stop,so i dab the brakes to get a feel for how much traction i have then apply it nice and easy...so far its ok and when my winter tyres turn upo i cant wait!! Some more pics of" one man and his Audi" absolute loving the snow at the mo! Im never going back to two wheel drive! -

its difficult to say without being there and experiencing the fault,it sounds like a spark issue,or as mentioned before possible map fault, have you had vag com on it?
-
it looks like a fracture but its arcing across the top of the plug to the base...do you have these?

you stripping the new one? like the mirrors they will look well once all painted 8) -
is there any sign on the plugs you took out of fine like pencil lines on the ceramic of the plugs? just need to 100% make sure its not the leads or coil pack breaking down,i know they are off your daily but once forced induction comes into play cylinder pressures are much higher and you need much stronger spark. If all that fails i would look into the mapping side of things, what fuel pressure do you run? standard 3.5?
-
thats poor, you say you have swaped the leads and coilpack over? the plugs that are wet, does it smell of fuel or oil?
-
Before splashing out on new leads i would do the most likely thing and replace the plugs first.
-
I would ditch the multi ground plugs and run something like a bkr6/7e plugs and gap them to around 0.7mm.
-
what plugs do you run and whats the gap?
