Thats a Duo Style air fuel ratio gauge, with (as far as I remember) a voltage gauge combined into it, I have the earlier AFR only one in my Polo.

Where does the name CORRADO come from?
gsbellew replied to iow_corrado_g60's topic in General Car Chat
Or going back a few years Cortina = Curtains -
Factory paint tends to be crap as a rule, we build Limos & Hearses based on Mercs and the paint finish they come from the factory with is brutal.

Its probably not legal and wouldnt be very effective, but you could wire them in using a 4 pin relay as you said. A switch could be fitted to either the relay power feed or to the line from the headlights or from them to the fogs to switch this off for MOT etc. Personally I would fit the switch to the relay power feed line.
-
To do it right so it only comes on when you have the front wipers on and shift into reverse you would need to use two 4 pin relays. Wired as follows: R1 = Relay 1 R2 = Relay 2 A feed from the reversing lights goes to pin no 86 on R1 pin 85 on R1 to ground pin 30 on R1 to an ignition live feed via an inline fuse pin 87 on R1 goes to pin 30 on R2 Pin 86 on R2 goes to the front wiper relay output Pin 85 on R2 goes to ground Pin 87 on R2 goes to the rear wiper relay input. The above circuit while being slightly more complicated cuts out feedback and means that the rear wiper will only automatically come on with reverse and the front wipers on / on its own switch as normal.

Depends who made it and the design of it / its fluid dynamics to be honest Richard. The one I have on the G40 seems to work well with it, but thats mine, another powerflow agent could make one and it would work completly differently.

What do you know about Mercedes Benz? Interview tommorrow!
gsbellew replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
Just a correction on that, Mercedes Benz is / was a trade name of Daimler Benz which merged with Chrysler making Daimler Chrylser, Daimler being listed first as it has control over Chrysler. Chrysler were to provide the "SUV" platforms, Mercedes the passenger car platforms. The ML was the first Mercedes built outside Germany. The W211 is to get a facelift in june production including a revision to the esp unit incorporating the SBC braking system which will change from SBC 1.2 to SBC 3e which is designed and built by Robert Bosch GMBh (although they may not like to here that you know all this as its supposed to be a secret) -
Stone chip from hell- new windscreen required for the golf
gsbellew replied to HiAsAKite's topic in General Car Chat
Thats one nasty stone chip! I would be of the thinking that it would be easier and probably cheeper to buy a secondhand screen and fit it yourself. GTI's and non GTI's use identical screens so it would be easy to get one. -
Manufacturers can no longer produce two pack paints, anyone using or selling it is mearly using whats left on the shelf so to speak. As for the quality of finish, its easier to get a better finish with water based paints than it is with solvent based paints.

Hmmmm, I'll play devils advocate here, mostly your debt you say? the answers in there in my opinion, its called taking resposibility for your actions. If she sells her car to pay off your debt I see the source of a lot of rows in the future.

Crashed: Car at home now...to assess fixability
gsbellew replied to Taggart's topic in General Car Chat
Ouch, sorry to hear that, is it bad looking in daylight, or is it more just a write of because its uneconomical to repair? -
Its a 00 Micra, the wifes car, well its supposed to be the wifes car, but she seems to think that the Corrado is hers and the G40 is mine, so I'm not sure who's its supposed to be  Think I might pop up to the cop shop after work to report it and let them take an official note of the damage.
-
The other car has not been around since, so I can't check for damage, it looks more like someone reversed into it, as the damage is restriced to that section of the door, and its more or less pushed straight in, there is no damage on the 1/4 or towards the front like you would expect if a car ran along the side of it.
-
What would you do if someone drove into your car outside your house, caused a nice bit of damage (needs a new door according to the head painter in work, frame is twisted, side impact beam is bent and skin is seperated from the frame) and drove off without letting you know? I have a fair idea who it was, should I pop into them and casualy ask if they saw anything happen? Crappy pic At least its not one of the VW's

Got it for Christmas from the Mrs, along with Motorsport Mayhem, brightened up an otherwise dull nights viewing on Christmas day.

WARNING!!! Corrado RIP Thread - Killers at LARGE!!!
gsbellew replied to H8RRA's topic in General Car Chat
Twas quite spooky last night, I had just mentioned to the Mrs about this thread and all the Corrado's being written off & she was joking that I better watch myself because it must be a curse or something. Then on the way back from doing the shopping some twit in a punto decided not to use the left turn lane but to stop dead in front of a truck in the middle of the road, truck swerves & starts to jack knife, the idiot tailgating him doesn't react in time and heads for the punto, I braked stuck the hazzard lights on and moved a bit to the right to avoid them, the idiot tailgating me missed all that completly and just missed my bumper, so a long story but nothing happened in the end, Just a very close call. Still, makes me wonder if I should leave the Corrado at home, although if I was driving the Polo the crap brakes would have meant that I would have crashed for sure. -
Not sure if this is what you saw, but you can fit a front lower spolier to the bottom of the rear bumper, or you can fit one from a mk2 Golf (small bumper).

WARNING!!! Corrado RIP Thread - Killers at LARGE!!!
gsbellew replied to H8RRA's topic in General Car Chat
if i'd done that where I park my car it'd have rolled back into a concrete bollard! yes, i know now i should always leave it in gear :) Ah, but it still did that and several parked cars too, one bollard would have been better would it not? -
WARNING!!! Corrado RIP Thread - Killers at LARGE!!!
gsbellew replied to H8RRA's topic in General Car Chat
Not sure if its in the Corrado instruction manual, but in my wife's one for her Micra it says you must leave it in gear when you park it, so its a pretty normal thing to be expected to do. You should also turn the front wheels so that it will roll into a kerb if it does manage to move and not further on into on coming traffic etc. -
Depends on my standards so, seeing as I'll be the one working on it  Cheers for all the replies & help 8)

The difference in the rear bumeper is that the line close to the top goes right the way around on a late while it turns up on an early one, if that makes any sense?
-
@ Dinkus, Thought I'd ask the experts first just in case there was anything strange in the Corrado that could catch me out. The lads in the workshop who strip the cars rekon I would be best taking the side windows out anyway, so I will have to sneak out and get a few lessons in using the cutting tool  @ CorradoVR6-n.o.s, Nice one, so there is no real need to take the front and back screens out? or would I still be better taking them out alltogether?
-
Right so, so the best bet is probably to leave the front screen in but take the trim off and remove the rest of the windows?
-
So I would probably be better leave them in place and use some soft edged masking tape to mask them up? :? Is the seal / trim around the windscreen a seperate part, ie can it be removed and replaced while leaving the windscreen in place?
