  1. Another corrado I'm looking forward to seeing completed! Should be super duper :D
  2. yeah I used to own a XXX 12 powered with the RE35.1D when I had a 306.. it was very loud at one point when I built a ported box for it (shown in the pic attached). Strangely enough I based the ICE layout on a similar one I'd seen in a Corrado... didn't even notice what car it was back then. I would have gone for the XXX again, however the 2 of the SX line appealed more. You guys have almost convinced me to just stick with what I've got... I'm not sure its worth all the hassle and cost just to have another sub in the car (I can't be bothered to build ANOTHER box either  ) I'll still have to make it look all nice tho :) Thanks for the advice
  3. I never really thought about competing tbh.. I just really like bass  I certainly don't like attracting attention with it tho, I only ever listen to higher volumes when driving on a dual carriage way or motorway... and always turn my music down or off when in residential areas. As for having too much... I dunno really. I was gonna be running the two subs in sealed boxes, i know that kinda defeats the object of going for SPL, however I decided that I wanted to have a nice looking install, plus I prefer the sound of a sealed over ported boxes.. I was simply aiming for a good streat bass system. I'd kinda forgotten about having to uprate the power side of things :( Thats actually quite a major factor in this whole thing. And I can't help but think about the weight.. I've got a tuned G60 that I'm gonna make heavy and therefore slower with all this stuff :? The more I think about this, the more I'm thinking I should just try to get the most out of what I've already got... pablo and Cannondale, you're from talkaudio... Does EFMax still make custom boxes?
  4. Cheers guys, I was actually expecting everyone to say "yes they are..." lol  Its a shame that I'm actually bothered what other people think... But I do certainly value other Corrado owners opinions. Knowing that owning a big ICE system is not seen as Chav actually makes this decision harder.. as now its question of whether or not the £500 extra is worth it  Either way I have more important things to spend my money on at the moment, so I'll keep the spare amp for now and wait until I'm wanting to spend some more money on something else before deciding whether to sell it or keep it :) Chris
  5. I'm in a bit of a quandry... About 6 months ago I bought 2 Viper d1200.1 amps (1200W RMS each) second hand off talkaudio, with the intention to use them with 2 RE SX12 subs. At the time however I didn't have enough money to buy all the equipment, therefore I only bought one of the subs, and only used one of the amps (the other one just sits in my wardrobe). Now I've always liked listening to music in the car, and ever since I learned to drive, loved the feeling of loud bass... and so as far as car audio was concerned, I've always been more interested in the SPL side of things over SQ. As I get older however (still only 19, lol), I'm very concious of not being thought of as a boy racer... as that tends to be the stigma attached to pretty much any young driver. And so with anything related to my car I want to minimise the strength of that opinion when modifying (I know the obvious way to do this would be to keep the car standard, however I'd rather enjoy my car more and be thought of as a boy racer, than simply driving in a standard car.... the key is finding a happy medium) So back to the question: Are Subs Chav? Boyracer? Scally? Townie? etc...? I don't know whether to get another sub, and possibly feel too embarrassed to ever listen to it on a high volume, therefore defeating the object of getting it. OR sell my spare amp, and spend the money on something else... still keeping the single sub setup which I have at the moment, which is ok. What would you do? Is there anyone else on the forum that likes SPL? Or even people that have had the same kind of worry when doing something else related to other areas of modifying? Cheers, Chris
  6. I can't find what I'm talking about... I just remember reading something about needing longer bolts for something to do with lowering... It seemed to be common knowledge so is probably totally unrelated
  7. So all I need to get is OEM Bushes Aftermarket Top Mounts I remember reading I need some longer bolts for something if I'm going really low? - to adjust the rear camber or something like that?? :? After doing all this, I think I'll get my engine running sweetly too.. looking forward to 2005 :D
  8. I'm gonna buy some Konigsport coilovers for my G60 within the next couple of weeks, and was thinking that I should replace the various other bits of rubber etc. that affect the handling of the car (bushes, bump stops.. that kinda thing) at the same time. Then get it all properly set up :) Just wondering what bits there are to replace (front and back) and whether I should just replace these with OEM parts, or can I get uprated versions? I'm gonna be running the coilovers quite low so I wanna make sure I've got everything sorted so that this is possible. Cheers, Chris PS. Liking the new forum, good work Andi
  9. Kinda annoying having an oil cooler when its this cold.. it takes about 20mins for my oil temps to get to 80 C. I'm actually tempted to cover it up... suppose its a good thing tho, as it means I'm discouraged to drive fast in this weather :|
  10. Nasty :? Was that yours, or just a random picture?
  11. well either bodywork or engine, as you have quite a good engine spec too :) The reason I wouldn't put you in this section however is because IMO the mods done to your car stand out... your rear lights and exhaust for example. They don't really lend themselves to the OEM look which the people in this section have (purposely or not) achieved. The bodywork section should maybe have been called "Exterior" or something similar.. as you don't have to have done actual bodywork to qualify for that section. I just think that would be more appropriate for the overall look of your car.
  12. Added your spec list and additional picture  Also found out how to convert a large piece of text written in capitals into lower case  Actually really chuffed about that  (Shift + F3 in word btw)
  13. That should get you a few more votes 8) Updated
  14. And they're stupidly expensive! I want to upgrade my fogs and indicators to late spec ones, but for all 4 lights it was over £150  I know as soon as I do it a big fat rock is gonna make friends with them at 100mph!
  15. Nasty :( :( Gutted for you mate, I'm sure most people here have a crashed at one time, and know what a git it is... the amount of hassle a few seconds of driving causes you Hopefully Elephant will give you a decent pay out... can you find out how much they'll offer you, then not claim? I.e. if they say they'll give you £1000 but you can't buy your car back... can you then say, ok I won't claim, and sell the bits for £2000 (random figures btw) :?:
  16. yeah its open to anyone. If you think your car is a decent competitor (no point if you don't think you'll get any votes) then PM me with some pics and a spec list and I'll post it up... then wait for Henny to come along and sort the poll out (can't do this myself)  I'd probably put your car in the bodywork section however.
  17. Originally I bought the Corrado for looks, and performance in relation to the cost. Everything I change / modify on the car I do becuase I think it's an improvment... I'd never do anything just to be different, or individual, however if they come with, then its a bonus. I think my C's got a long way to go before its finished in my eyes. I think I'll always want more power, better handling.. but in the end it will come down to whether the C will be able to provide the power / handling for the least money (which it won't) which is when I'll move onto another car. If money was no object then I think I'd have 2 Corrado's, both specialising in different areas, one for looks/comfort and the other for performance... and then they'd never be finished
  18. Cheers Henny, Can you throw G60Jet up there too - I've already added the pics :)
  19. Got G60JAY in there now with his 16vg60.. just gotta get a spec list off him, and maybe another pic :) Henny, could you do your magic and add him to the poll :) Cheers
  20. its for people that have gone for the original look... done subtle or no mods.. and kept the original look of the car - nothing looks out of place on the above cars  G60Jet, if you think that you should be in this then send us a couple of pics of your car, and a spec list (if you want) and I'll happily add you... you may not get all the votes you would have done if you'd been in from the start.. but theres no reason for you not to be included if you want to be?
  21. nana man, added your spec list and Maddub - I've tried to decript yours, but I may have cocked up some of the stuff (i don't understand what half the things you've done are... there seems to be a lot of numbers  ) so let us know if the descriptions wrong in any way :)
  22. 500bhp is with NOS I'm guessing?? Maddub, any chance you can put some comma's in your spec list? I don't know where to put bullet points
