Soo true, Friday nights and Monday mornings are real bad. Too many people in too small a space :(
-
Hey don't you need to do a final year project??? :smug:
-
Ha ha, I may just do that! I'm that anal.

cheers david and monkey, I'm thinking Mk3 diesel is more similar than mk 2 isn't it?

I'm currently thinking of developing an undertray to help airflow through the engine bay. I did a few tests measuring air pressures inside the bay a couple of years ago and there is too much low pressure at the front of it, resulting in the air not flowing through the bay cleanly. Instead, air swells up into the front of the engine bay creating turbulence, a bit like the way it swells up onto the back of a car, especially Volvo estates etc which have a big negative pressure area as they are so upright. What I think is needed is to have roughly equal (slightly bigger exit as hot air = larger volume) inlets (via the rads) and outlets, which maintains a fast air flow rate through the engine bay and maintains even pressures. Resulting in air passing under the car cleanly (and faster helping down force  ) and it follows a nice path through the engine bay with the hot air from the exhausts hopefully being the last bit in the airflow before it exits underneath the car, but maybe not so good in traffic when it just wants to rise, but on the same note at least the fans will force the air out of the back of the bay. It'll also keep the bay a lot cleaner :D Are there any already in existence? Has anyone had any experiences with one? I seem to remember someone bringing it up here before but nothing seems to have come of it. If i make one it'll only be laser cut aluminium, no fancy carbon/kevlar or anything. Just cheap and cheerfull.

I like to blow kisses at angry drivers and giggle like a little girl, my wife tells me to stop it. :camp:

I think you must have air in the system, it's a common problem :D
-
You & your easy cleaning!!  Ha Ha, yeah that made me laugh too as it reminded me of my mum who's first consideration is cleaning when deciding on new things around their house etc

It's not worth pondering over it chap. Get it to a VAGCOM and find the fault codes. You get the symptoms you're talking about form a bad sensor/ring.

Oh so true :( And me, especially mums in 4x4's late for school run on country lanes..I just almost stop dead now and let them drive around me, rather than being bullied into the verges because I have a little car.
-
Yeah I can't say I havent had my fair share of 'offs' ! I'm much calmer now, not that i have much choice in my 49hp Arosa.
-
I've been meaning to get back to you chap, but I'm not sure which of your bits I need for a 4wd conversion, anyone?
-
That looks much better Andy, why did they ever bother with the walnut theme me wonders?

I was flicking through some old pics the other day and found this, taken in 1997. I thought I might post it up on the forum as I was overtaken by a Corrado today (Southampton Road 6.00pm) driving like a prat and thought they might be on this forum. Now i'm not trying to be a killjoy, but just ask that you think twice before you go for the overtake....... :) I'd just spent my entire summer holiday converting a 1.3 Mk1 Golf driver to a 2.0 Gti. I'd also put a clipper kit on it (stylish for the day) and resprayed it in a custom dark green. I finally got some running problems sorted and got it through it's MOT just before Christmas, and was out for a spin with a mate, 20th December 9.00pm so dark and it was drizzly. I was doing about 60mph (going past Middle Wallop Airfield) when i saw a pair of headlights come over the brow of hill straight towards me- A car old was overtaking and clearly wasn't going to make it, The bank was too steep to climb, and we both swerved in the same direction and so inevitably hit each other as an offset head on with the two passenger sides taking the brunt. I suffered relitavely minor injuries (six ribs, arm, three metatarsils, jawbone, fingers, nose and a few teeth) but my mate after having spent four months in hospital now has one leg shorter than the other, and can't use his arm properly, not to mention horrendous scarring. Personally i'm not one to lecture that speed kills as I think that is absolute bollocks, just like reading and writing everyone has their own pace, and if I drive slowly I just switch off. It's stupidity and a lack of common sence that kills, whoever you are you'll know that what you did today almost ended your life, think about that mate.Scan08-02-08-2251.jpg[/attachment:zy8ah4j4] PS. on a lighter note, the Mk1 faired soooo much better than the 205, if he had a passenger then it would have been a fatal accident as the dash was behind the passesger headrest. The other driver sustained similar injuries to me, and got a 12 month ban.

I've just been through the same process, someone swerved into my lane on a roundabout when it was dark and they were in a Nissan Nivara so didn't see me (blacked out windows didn't help) he didn't stop at first and then tried to deny it. Then he admitted it and we exchanged details. Months went by with lame excuses from his insurance company. Eventually they settled for a 50/50 as he denied all involvement. So basically i've got a dent/crease in my rear wheel arch thanks to him, I'm going to have to pay for it out of my own pocket to get it fixed, luckily I've been thinking of a back to metal respray anyway but still, it makes you hopping mad, I just wouldn't do that to someone else. See the crease on the wheel arch, it actually looks a lot worse than it really is.

Ben, You'll get an answer in a couple of months when all of the current projects are completed..... :D
-
Just pull them together using a big bolt or studding and some home made washers...
-
There is someone on here with those exact wheels on but not standard suspension. They look good (lowered), but as Andy says, handling suffers...
-
NOOO you have to charge it, make it into an absolute beast Corrado, how are you going to sort the rear camber out too? Edit- forget that, just remembered your running a different rear set up to phat etc.
-
Sorry Karl, 5 not eight months! :)
-
If I count my chickens right, that's four conversions to be finished for Christmas. So far one's taken four years (ok a bit more than a 'simple' engine change), one's taken a year, one's taken 8 months and one's taken two or three months !!! I would say the last one to finish has to get the first round in, but it's more than likely to be me!!

fitting a touch screen car p.c into a corrado thread

Good skills, but how are you going to hold the heater control mechanism in place behind the facia? -
I should think it'll be about the same Pete, I've been so impressed with my Magnex, it's never given me any grief and has sounded superb, it's just a bit loud now and unfortunately they don't exist any more :( Plus I want to try something new :D
