  1. Hope it all goes well down there mate, finally one of these R32 installs is going to be running soon  Interior out of an Audi RS6? RS4? R32 Mk5 recaros?
  2. Thought I'd dig this build thread out of the dungeon, I'm going back up to the workshop tomorrow to take the dust covers off it and carry on with the work...got a couple of bits in the post today, an E36 auto dim rear view mirror (I didn't say they were exiting!) and some air ducts off a G60 I think. How are they held in on the wheel end? Does anyone know if I need brackets or anything? stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfP190908_18.32.JPG[/attachment:2d3meofa]Corrado92.pdfP160208_15.26[01].JPG[/attachment:2d3meofa]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfP080109_22.58.JPG[/attachment:2d3meofa]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfrear view mirror.JPG[/attachment:2d3meofa]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfP121108_19.29[01].JPG[/attachment:2d3meofa]P121108_19.34[02].JPG[/attachment:2d3meofa] I've got a few more toys up at the workshop, I'll post more pics up soon.... :D
  3. The right one doesn't look centred to the cutout, or is that just because the bumper isn't bolted up? Good effort though matey, just too big for my liking :D Get finished pics up ASAP!
  4. Can you do an on the road shot? Low and dipped beam, would love to see the difference. :D
  5. The quality of that McCulloch looks the dogs danglies. I like the ballasts on the back of the bumper too, nice and neat. :salute:
  6. I suppose the long and short is (if you can) compare the bulbs before you buy.
  7. Cheers mate, took half an hour to write that lot up :D !!
  8. Much of the problem with HID comes from the bulb design itself. A halogen reflector is a parabolic shape designed to have a 'focal point' where all light emitted from this point will be reflected onto an aimed area in front of the car. An H4 Halogen bulb has two filaments in it-main beam and dip beam, both in specific points within the bulb- these are the two 'focal points' the Corrado H4 reflector headlight is designed around. If you look at a halogen bulb they all look extremely similar. See my examples below taken off the net. stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfLLB472.jpg[/attachment:3mh7ggur]ETKA Corrado.pdf472.jpg[/attachment:3mh7ggur]2008124202914.jpg[/attachment:3mh7ggur] Xenon H4 bulbs design differ massively meaning the light sources are not always in the same place as the halogen H4 though depending on who manufacturers the bulb and what sort of bulb it is- bi-xenon or telescopic etc. See more examples... :D stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfChina_Product_C2007413115859446758_H4_BI_XENON_BULBS.jpg[/attachment:3mh7ggur]Corrado92.pdfH4 New Bi-Xenon 1.JPG[/attachment:3mh7ggur] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfH4_bi_xenon_lamp.jpg[/attachment:3mh7ggur] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfSell_Bi_Xenon_Bulb.jpg[/attachment:3mh7ggur] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfhh.jpg[/attachment:3mh7ggur] They have been designed to be used primarily with PES headlamps using lenses (projectors)- a much better system requiring a much smaller frontal area on the car, albeit more costly for manufacturers, these do not depend on having a given focal point so it doesent matter where the light emits from- within reason. As a result of the xenon bulbs being different what this effectively does is change the focal point to the reflector, meaning that the light is being reflected in a different way. A perfect example of this is a maglite. If you turn the end of the torch you alter the beam pattern by altering the focal length. The performance of different manufacturers HID conversion kit's vary because the bulb designs differ. Some HID bulbs are actually very close to a halogen bulb and they will provide a very similar pattern but much brighter :D Now all you need to do to get a good pattern is find that kit.
  9. Go to VAGCAT (google it) register and then use it, it's very handy.
  10. Cheers guys! I'll look for a 16" saver then. :D
  11. Having fitted 280's to the rear of the car my space saver is no longer of any use :( Can you get a bigger space saver to fit in the well? This is my preferred option. If not, there is no use in carrying it about, has anyone on here made a sub to fit in there? I'm thinking small 6 or 8 inch sub BOSE style.
  12. I'm going to have to use spacers with my Brembos (same as Cupra R etc) especially with my RX's as they seem to be worse than my other wheels. Same 323mm discs too. Could you tell me where from? I have drawn some up with the intention to machining my own but I can't seem to get round to finishing building the building to put the milling machine in !! Too cold outside :D
  13. Yes, type in stroeve in google, and then click on the 'translate this page' bit next to the link :D
  14. http://www.stroevemotorsport.nl/index.p ... =86&page=2 Stroeve seem to just sell the weichers ones now....
  15. God I can't even do a quote without messing it up today, I hope the rest of the year goes better...............
  16. Kip it's a 91 16v so old style sliders... Easy way to check is to pop the stereo out and look down! :norty: Doh!!! I'll get my coat :D :D
  17. Pull off the dial facia panel and you will find 4 screws holding the dial mechanism in, undo those four screws and pull it out so you can see behind it, then turn the dial and see if it is push/pulling the cable, if it isn't you know it's the dial mechanism broken, if it is then I'm afraid you'll have to investigate further down the line. Have you just bought the car? If so check that the heater matrix hasn't been disconnected as they are prone to breaking....
  18. Send it off to that jap tuning guy doing his trademark crosses on cylinder heads, he'd fix it no problems. A bit of blue spray paint is all he would need. How long was it running for?
  19. That's real bad luck, it's happened to me a couple of times too, I'm installing one of these where my boot lock used to be http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rear-View-Parking ... 240%3A1308 Also you could use a 2 stage microwave proximity sensor on your alarm that instead of giving an audible sound on the first zone (1ft around the windows/roof) being violated (remember the cliffords with the 'please stand back from the car' warning!) it can just page/text your phone instead. So they don't know they've been rumbled.... It costs about a hundred quid to add it onto your alarm, but you could end up catching them..... Hope you get it fixed ok, it looks fixable tbh, the key scratch could be polished out, maybe with the help of some touch up lacquer.
  20. Personally, I would do all the engine swapping yourself mate, and then get VAG doctor (as Pete Griff has) to do all the electrics, for the amount he charges (£300ish) it's not worth the grief. Thats using the Donor ECU though, not standalone.
  21. Give it a few more months and this will be the Corrado R32 forum  Congratulations and hope it all goes well
  22. Do you do a lot of miles? If not then the 330 would be a better choice imo. Much smoother, quicker, and initially cheaper to buy. You have to do A LOT of miles for oil burners to become worth the extra cost at the pump. Even the 325 E46 is a nice drive.
  23. Ben, wiring don't you just love it! why do they use two wires when they could use one? Also, maybe a daft question, but what are you using to pull the relay over? Ignition live? Perhaps get a resistor onto your 12V supply or use a variable power supply and see if the coils can work with just 10V
  24. A friend of mine has got an auto dimming mirror, and driving through the New forest (always a 4x4 with HID's behind you) in the dark at rush hour I thought it was really good, as I find lifting my finger to tilt the mirror so difficult these days  I'm thinking it could be a nice really simple mod? It's not something I'm particularly bothered about but seeing as my current rear view mirror is sitting on the passenger seat I thought I'd look into putting an Auto dimming one on. Looking into it a bit more I thought I could use a BMW one which has an alarm LED in which I could use as I've now got no blanking plugs left in the dash which was where my previous alarm LED was. From what I can understand just about all of the mirrors are self contained requiring just a 12V feed and earth, and sometimes a reverse activation too. Anyone ever bothered to do it?
