Pete Griff's 'Rado R32 - (Not quite!) Alive at last! :D
KipVR replied to pete_griff's topic in Members Gallery
That's a mighty impressive spec Pete!! I Can't wait to get a spin in it, but hope it doesn't temp me into buying more bits for mine... Can't begin to think how you must be feeling right now   Hopefully with a (more or less) new car now it'll remain reliable for a few years, but I'm sure in true Corrado style it'll find a few more bits that you need to add to the list :D -
They are a very similar design, the Porsche ones being slighlty lighter, but they can't take a 30mm disc. But if you are using the Seat Disc (28mm) you shouldn't have any problems.
-
You don't need anything particularly special as they don't do anything other than stop the suspension falling apart on full droop.
-
Or if you just want automatic headlight level adjustment to go nicely with HID's etc, Hella do this kit... http://www.arz-tuning.de/shop/product_i ... -Kit-.html

good tip that. Cheers

Chris, for a no hassle bolt on mod. You need the following. I pair of Seat Leon Cupra R Brembo 4 Pots. 1 Pair of Seat Leon Cupra R Discs (323x28mm) (can be bought new from EBC for £120) 1 Pair of Seat Leon Cupra R Caliper Mounting Brackets. 1 Pair of 10-15mm wheel spacers depending on wheel design, you'll have to cross that bridge when you get to it. I pair of Seat leon Cupra R front brake hoses. Second hand bargains can be bought from Ebay for £350ish for a complete set up, £200 odd for Calipers, the brackets are a little more hard to come by. Dust seal kits for the Brembos are £25 per caliper. Alternatively, you can just buy a decent set of calipers and just use the Seat Discs which is what i have done, you can either get ones like Red Typhoon has which are lug mounted like the standard calipers, or you can get ones like the Seat Brembo ones and mine which are radially mounted, for which you need an angled bracket, this i feel allows for a little adjustment should you want to go for a bigger disc..... hope this all helps.... :D

535941295A is the Corrado part No for the adjuster motors, sorry I got it wrong, the only important bit though is the 295A, which is the actual part No. the rest as you probably know is what car etc which doesn't really matter.
-
535941333A for the switch Kev.
-
I robbed the motors from my Seat Arosa (1998) Part No. 0941295A (same as Corrado) and the rods are just the right length. The A is important in the part No. btw. but you can always just lengthen the rods of others. The switch is £36 from the dealers, and the wiring is really easy. So in all it's a really easy not very expensive mod provided you can find some motors on ebay or suchlike. I have two at home that need the rods lengthening but it really wouldn't be difficult if someone wants them, tenner each.

wishbone plastic deflector plates - what do they do?
KipVR replied to davidwort's topic in Drivetrain
They just stop stone chips and therefore premature rusting... -
I got a 'this is probably the pointless mod ever' reply when I posted up putting electric headlight adjustment onto my Corrado but in my eyes if you WANT to do something to your Corrado, then it's not pointless doing it

Nice wheels, but you do know that that much stretch is dangerous don't you?
-
I think it's 12mm Karl, but you've also got to take into consideration the disk bell thickness. I could be wrong on that though, so I haven't been much help have I

Basically the DSG box takes inputs from the Engine and Wheels via CAN bus (except the wheel speed sensors), which the Corrado doesen't use. It doesen't really matter because the CAN imputs from the drivers side - the accelerator pedal, steering position and the gear selection, can be transferred transfer as isolated units and ultimately just plug into either the DSG ecu or engine ecu. The only thing is the gear selection display won't work on the Corrado dash, so you might want to use the Golf/Audi dials too! Someone is doing it, can't remember who though!
-
VAG doctor is your man, all the wiring done and the ECU code defeats for about £300, you're best off keeping all the lambdas and twin CAT's. You don't need to modify the gearbox at all, just transfer over the VR flywheel. You don't have to transfer over all the dash etc if you want the DSG, but you will have to transfer over all the sensors, DSG ECU, Gearbox oil cooler, and the Haldex etc and make it 4WD!!
-
If you do the mechanicals yourself and pay to get the electrics done, you can do it for about a thousand over the cost of the engine, if you can weld up your own manifold then it would be even less. If you get an Audi one or an earlier Golf one, you don't have to buy any extra bits (like the FPR, power steering/alternator cradle), not bad really.

Glad to be of help :salute:

i went to Iceland a couple of weeks ago, everyone over there uses studded tyres which we had fitted to our hired Yaris, they were feckin brilliant, you hardly notice any difference and have to really try hard to make it wheelspin, just like in the dry. Noisy though.
-
Can you post up some pics of it when you get it?
-
With Haldex I think you can alter the bias anyway, so I would stick with that.
-
Hi Pete, bet that was a nice six weeks off eh? Congratulations on getting your car done btw, I have read your updates and it all looks really good, cant wait to see it. Give me a bell when you have it finished :D Yeah this was a little idea I think a lot of people have thought of doing at some point but never got round to doing....I'll keep it posted...
