  1. Actually so will a GTi, and being a little lighter it might have had an easier time
  2. Stick to your guns man! And then show the M3's how the rear spoiler works :D
  3. VW pulled a fast one on their customers during the late 80's and early 90's. They didn't have any Anti-Lock Braking Systems fully developed so they conned them with the Always Breaking System instead. Monkeys. :help:
  4. This is a rather open ended discussion, and depends on many different factors, but mainly power output and driving conditions (ie traction) Take two identical cars with different powertrains eg a golf Mk2 G60 and a Rallye. In totally standard form it's the fwd G60 that wins the race, because the main limit is with the small power output and the lighter more efficient 2wd set up wins. If you made those g60's 400hp the rallye would be the winner because traction is becoming the limiting factor. 300hp would be quite an even match I should think. If you then throw wet conditions into the equation then the traction threshold becomes lower, giving the advantage to the Rallye lower down on the power scale as the fwd struggles to gain traction. RWD is somewhere in between. It is not as efficient or as light as FWD but more so than 4WD. It has the benefit of being able to divide the steering and accelerative forces between the four tyres rather than just the front two, and by doing this you have more adjustment of the cars attitude in corners via the throttle on the rear wheels. This is a very useful driving technique that many drivers like to use, and it's fun, but it doesn't make the car faster. In the wet it can become a hinderance too. Engine weight and position play a huge part in a cars speed round corners, the more evenly divided over the four wheels the better, rear wheel-front engine usually offers even distribution. The new sciriocco beat some seriously exotic machinery in the N'burg race, that was FWD, but it also had DSG which in an endurance race I can see being a real benefit. Anyway better the devil you know!
  5. Silver suits the Corrado best in my opinion, reflex silver would be cool 8)
  6. There will be a shortage of Mk2 syncro's soon.....
  7. Just read this thread, what a fantastic build you have done, I take my hat off to you sir! :D With regards to your exhaust pipe doing smaller as it gets towards the back, that is often done to keep the exhaust gasses speed up, because as it cools it takes up less volume. Wasn't Jeroen Dik's Mk1 an 8V to start with at 310hp, later to become 16V and 350hp? His company is featured in this months copy of PVW for all its sins. His Mk1 was inspiration for many I think...and my favourite all time modified car
  8. Get your wife/girlfriend to drive in and ask, worked for me once, although not on a Corrado!
  9. Is the rust actually going under the window seal? If it isn't I would leave the window and seal in place, but pull the rubber away from the bodywork and stuff some chord under it to keep it away, that way any new paint still goes under the seal. Someone else on here told me about doing that, tis a good idea. :)
  10. And so it begins all over again........................... :D Congratulations buddy. I sold mine and bought it back again a while ago, I wonder how many others there are who have done the same? :D
  11. Excellent work Dave, it's nice to know there are other obsessives out there :help: Keep the piccies coming :D
  12. The little clips holding the reflectors in have barbs on them, you just need a small flat screwdriver to push them away from the clip and it unhooks, it's easy once you've done it once :D
  13. Oh right, I thought he only had the backing plate, sorry. :)
  14. Perhaps ask Carl (bigpantsbaby) on here he's got an unconnected 4wd box in his Corrado with R32 motor.
  15. Can the bracket be used on the other side of the rad? If so you can put my name down.
  16. They are halogen bulbs in that pic mate, as described above it. What make HID's have you got that give less glare? as I'm currently looking out for the best bulbs to use.... and can you give an 'on the road' photo?
  17. Dave you're a legend, drawing up a laser cut fan bracket was on my list of things to do, but no longer!! Is it possible to fit two 11" next to each other or is there not enough room? How come you went for a smaller one?
  18. Sorry to hear your selling chap, I hope you still hang about on the forum from time to time, make sure the car goes to someone who appreciates it :D
  19. P090109_20.38.JPG[/attachment:29sdu359] Ahh haa, my other half has this in her Mk3 Gti boot, she wouldn't notice the change to 15" me thinks :ignore: I'm the one who'll have to do the wheel changing anyway  No brainer.
  20. They are better imo, but 6.5 is a shame :(
  21. Yeah my lovely wife complains when I put car bits in the dishwaser to clean them, but it doesn't half work well
  22. cheers mate, I'll have them all on soon, cleaning all the arches next week, new brake lines put into place and then all the suspension hooked up so the car can be put back on the ground and moved over to the lift, engine's coming out and then Jon's getting on with the loom etc That, my friend, is a massive understatement. :D
  23. Few more pics, just for reference... :D ETKA Corrado.pdfP090109_13.21[02].JPG[/attachment:180acgvb]stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfP090109_13.27.JPG[/attachment:180acgvb]Corrado92.pdfP090109_13.13[01].JPG[/attachment:180acgvb]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfP090109_13.18.JPG[/attachment:180acgvb]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfP090109_13.14[01].JPG[/attachment:180acgvb]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfP090109_13.20[01].JPG[/attachment:180acgvb]P090109_13.21[02].JPG[/attachment:180acgvb]
  24. I don't think either look too hot if I'm honest, there muct be something better? Those Subaru 6 spoke wheels look the business on green corrado's and are common (on Subarus anyway!) they look quite OE too.
