Is this really going to do much though ?
-
I've just bought a new set of clocks (km version for europe) and if when I turn it on the MFA says I've done 50,000km instead of the 194,000 I need it to. Isn't that more illegal if I then sell it in a years time ?

Some people have no respect at all.... m akes you want to do to their houses and just break things for no reason.
-
I thought the only difference was the bulge --__-- for early __--__ for late I'm also interested in one if there's a supplier making these that's in Europe.

REally... mines running on standard 15" steelies right now and dropped it looks like poo. Still.... without the drop it would look like poo, so who's complaining  Can't wait for spring time and my nice shiney 17's back again.....

Ok, looks like the problem was a red herring. As right now the car is garaged most of the time I thought it only failed when I was outside and the weather was cold (It's cold most of the time here right now) So, it seems the only place I have my car when it's outside is at my Girlfriends place in Austria.... where her parents own a petrol station (no discounts for me though  ) Seems something there inteferes as it works everywhere else but there. Very strange... anybody know what frequency the Toad runs on and if it's changeable :?:

You can buy adapters for the tacho on Germany eBay I think (plugs into the back of the tacho and with the right software you can reset things)... At least I saw one recently when searching for a new tacho.

Not yet.. but my girlfriend lives so close (10 minutes) I can see it anytime ;) Ok... so how can I check the engine mounts before just blindly replacing them :?: and silly question number 5, but where are they and what do they look like :?: * Yeah I know more about computers than cars... but I'm trying *
-
Not really sure to be honest. The gear change seems fine normally (a little harder when cold for some reason). Although when I change gears carefully it doesn't seem to clunk at all. just changing gears carefully isn't really the sort of thing you do in a G60 often ;)
-
Ok.. nobody :?: Any chance it's the engine mounts going then....
-
I'd go to the g-man no matter how far... just had a set of FK Highsports off him and I live in Germany now  The harder you make the engine work (ie. red tops, new pulley, etc..) the higher Oil temps you'll get. For the cost of an oil cooler I think it's worth it. Although don't ask Darren to fit it, he'll just swear and say he hates to fit them ;) Abouth the RSR outlet.... it's an easy thing to fit as well. I had a chip/pulley, RSR outlet and fuel lines changed in half a day. That was with a winter health check as well.

Hmm, ok then. Looks like I'll be looking for a VR 1st, 2nd and a Golf TDI 5th. Will this effect things with normal driving in 5th. Like having to rev it further in 4th to keep the torque into 5th :?: or is it not noticable. Silly question probably, but any benefit in getting these cogs made up specifically if I can get the exact data for them. Maybe lighweight like the flywheel change people tend to go for :?:
-
Well 3 reasons... * Fuel comsumption * Wear on the engine * The rather loud noise from the eninge ;) It puts more strain on the engine :?: I'd have thought less as the newer cars mostly come with a 6th gear for this sort of speeds on the motorway...
-
Well doing allot of motorway driving right now and was wondering what I can do to drop the high revs when I'm on the Autobahn's. Right now when I'm at 80mph it's cruising at 3000 rpm.... it then raises about 500rpm per 10mph from this. Usual cruising on the Autobahn is about 100mph however. So I've had a look about the forum and seen what options there are. But what I wanted to know is this. If I fit a VR6 1st, 2nd and 5th into my box (probably with a lightened flywheel) what sort of rpm will I be getting at the same speeds ? Also, is it worth me looking at a 6spd box, and what sort of prices did this cost the people who've done this :?: For the records it's 1990 G60 with a few tweeks running on 15" steelies right now (17x7 alloys in summer).

I got a 135ish before my SNS chip and pulley... so sounds good to me ;)

Ok, on the long drag from München to Gmünd (Austria) I noticed something. Whenever I change gear quickly I can feel a clunking through the clutch, and can sometimes hear a clunking as well (depending on the voume of the stereo I guess) So.. is the clutch going or am I just paranoid after letting my sexy girlfriend drive my car last weekend ;)
-
I hope they are, I just used it to order something from the dealers......still, whatever I brought it has only cost me 38p.... Well if you ordered a new gearbox then it's wrong.... if not, then we'll see I guess

Hmm... Got to be the SNS chip for me ;) -

Stumbled on this while searching for a Vw part number online... thought a few of us might find it useful... http://etka.auto2.ru/vw/COR/1990/13/

Ok, just had this installed in December, and now whenever I leave my car out overnight the alarm won't turn off in the morning using the remote. I have to add that it's left out in Austria in about -15 degrees.... however when it's stored in a garage it works fine. Also when I open the car with the key and turn the alarm off using the emergency button (and access code) it disables fine. Abnybody got an operating temp for the Toad A101 unit ?

Have you checked the actual bulbs ? too much power to them isn't a good thing....

So... getting a replacement tacho for my G60 and need to convert the MFA settings to kph instead. Can Volskwagen do this reprogramming to convert it ? or am I better off asking somebody else to do this ? Any idea of costs ? anybody done this before ?

Just the fact that the two cars weight and perform differently should be enough to make you think twice.... Better off spending more and getting something that's good. I tried the shortcut method myself and regretted it...
