You Know Your Rado's Really Feked When.........
catch_twotwo replied to double-6s's topic in General Car Chat
... when you come out of you Girlfriends house and think "Shall we take the Rado or do you want to take a reliable car" This makes more sense if you know her family all have at least 2 cars and none of them are reliable O.o -
Partnumbers ARE NOT SHOWN, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO PROLONG YOUR ACCOUNT BY PAYING THROUGH SPACECOIN.COM here »» We will be requiring a small monthly fee to access the partnumbers (5$/month). Pity, looks like this ones gone pay per play.

I think I just wet myself laughing...... where can we get the MP3 of this fine track. i want to burn it to 10 CD's and put it in my sisters 10 disk changer ;)
-
Yeah I've seen some nasty looking rear ARB's.... I was going to go for a chunky one from Trimsport (I think) but wondered what this one looks like.
-
Will the front ARB fit cars with ABS :?: Also any pictures hanging about.....
-
Have you had your tracking checked :?:
-
I spoke to C&R about these... looks like they have an agreement with the supplier so that they now accept the Corrado ones back for the rebate.
-
I think it's in the dash in the lower right..... funny little round thing next to the 2 buttons to change the time....
-
Yes, very true..... So is it worth it for the grooved disks ? and is it worth varying the pads from front to back..
-
I thought the drilled ones were proven slightly better (tested by Porsche I remember somewhere) although only slightly. The holes let the gas vent, and slightly scrape the pads to stop them galzing over... I'm planning a brake overhaul... New braided hoses, new brake fluid, disks and pads..... it's a 15 year old car and for all I know it's got 15 year old fluid in there as well ;)

Um... they're German :?: -
Been thinking this myself... as well as using it for a winter car next year. I'm not putting my C through another Austrian winter else it'll never last....

You could just disconenct your Lambda and see if this makes any difference ?
-
Can't fault the guys at storm for service though... LHD single wipers aren't as good... the blade is too short and doesn't clean the whole screen. If I could do it all again (and probably will soon) I'd get the lupo ones ;)
-
That depends.... if they did it wrong first time do you trust them to do it right this time and not break something else.
-
It's also been mentioned before, but tuned engines may throw off the MFA. Only way to know how much MPG you're really getting is to do a manual test.... Fill er up and drive her around. Then refill and see what you used for what distance.... I did this recently.... mine was out...

I think we need a putting that just pastes.... "Darren at G-werks is the man to talk to about that... he's got what you need"

... and a dent in the roof.... -
I got on fine.... all the way from London to Munich without a problem (or showing a passport ;) )
-
Nice bit of bling there...... like to see them on a rado.. Are you going 8" all round :?:

With all this talk of cold and warm bite... what would be the result in having different spec pads for front and rear ? Probably a silly idea... The only reason i ask is I've had a few occasions where on the motorway I have to break hard (idiots in trucks usually) and the breaks feel great to start with then fade to almost nothing. By almost nothing I mean, "OMG my brakes have gone" type of feelings. Then again 200kmh to 80kmh can heat them brakes up a little I'm thinking ;). I'm unsure if I should go for Pagid FR's to stop that fade (but risk no initial bite if they're stone cold) or go for standard Pagid and hope they don't fade as much as the VW standard ones..... Any suggestions ? Possible getting drilled disks to cool the pads and scrape them better ?

But that could have just been your old Lambda probe was faulty. I doubt that buying it at 3 times the price made the probe any better. Plus you'd have to make your MPG double to make the money back on a new probe at VAG prices..

Sounds like I'll have to wait for his reply and then stear him in the right direction..... maybe as you said it was a bad day. With the list of work I wanted, and it turning up on a Sunday I can't blame him... Thanks for the pointers Riley (strange as my names Riley as well) funny old world...

Trust me finding anybody in a country where you don't speak the language is hard enough. As I said he's going to take a look, he just said what it might be based on my description. You know how VW like to do that.... usually before they try and sell you a new car. I guess it's wait and see time. I just wanted to be prepared with information when he does come back with what it is. I know about as much about engines as I do about speaking German. How much oil is a 200,000 mile engine supposed to use though I wonder ?
-
Ok, so took my car to a VW engineer today (not working on VW time though) and spoke to him about a few things. One thing I mentioned was the engine using Oil. He mentioned that if the engine was run really hot that it might have broken something in the meaning the engine would need to be replaced. Now I know VW engineers tend to be overdramatic (mostly for profit) but any ideas what he could be talking about. I was thinking he meant it might have melted a piston... although I doubt the only symptom of this would be my car using upto 1L of oil for a trip from Munich to Linz in Austria (About 300 miles I recon) So... before I start weighinh up the options... TDI engine, something nice and powerful, or just a new car... can anybody think of what else it could be and what sort of cost I'm looking at for repair :?:
