Just thought I'd whore the rado in here.....:)
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Members Gallery
Just thought I'd put in a few pics of it after the registration - better photo's to come eventually - have been to busy driving it to get time for another wash and a "photoshot" :) YES! I know it sits to high - will also be adjusted a bit down on the height ;) -
I guess it *could* be the fuel pump relay - but I would think it's fine if you can hear it "purge" when you put ignition in "ON" position. Ignition switch is a posibility - if it haven't been replaced sometime it might be a good idea to replace it anyway. doubt the ECU relay - thought it's always a posibility (the relay's will be in the area around the fuse panel). Other things to get checked out: Fuel pressure regulator (just recently (yesterday) replaced mine and it seem to have taken care of the "hard" start problem I had - although I haven't used it enough to actually confirm it's good - as sometimes it started alright before also). Maybe replace your fuel filter if it haven't been done. You could of course also take out the MFA again and spray it with start gass (holding it horizontal so dirt will drain off). I would presume that most sensors would throw an error and show up on a scan - although not 100% sure about this.......

naa - the filter is fine - had the trouble with fuel smell prior to changing the filter as well........the hard starting *seem* to be alright now after the FPR where replaced.....
-
I'v had trouble with the car being a bit hard to start - have had to crank for some time before it fired - after that it tended to smell a bit fuel for a few minutes. The slow starting seem to have gotten better now that I replaced the FPR - but still seem to be a bit fuel smell after starting the car - when it's cold (have been sitting for some time). Any idea what might cause this?.. (not 100% sure the hard starting is totaly solved as I'v only replaced it yesterday and only had a few startups after that - but it's looking positive) :) The fuel filter have also been replaced.
-
replaced the FPR - hoped it would fix the hard to start issue I have - haven't gotten to check it enough but doesn't look to good......although it seem to run better now - the FPR I took out seem to have the "filter" stuck at the top, where the one I put in it could "travel" on the rod. I suppose it's supposed to sit "free" on the rod when it's out ?? Have to check tomorrow if it still smells gas after it's first starting in the morning - if not at least that problem is "solved" :)
-
Ok, thought so too - so guess I should be fine testing with the one I had laying around :)
-
I have been wondering the same thing about mine - but it seem to be that way. What annoys me about it that my mighty old Passat VR6 idle much smoother.......that's a distributor engine and not a coilpack engine like the one in the C - if that makes any difference.....:)
-
Doing some troubleshooting while trying to figure out why my C is a bit hard to start - always starts but have to crank quite a bit. I'm gona have a go at replacing the FPR and I have a 4.0 bar FPR laying around so thought I could fit that - the on in the C doesn't seem to show how many bars it is - so is it supposed to be a 4.0 or a 3.0 ??.
-
Can the VR6 impuls sender cause car to be hard to start?
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
Haven't gotten around yet to replace that sensor or FPR - but could also the ignition switch barrel be cause of this? (the switch itself have been replaced) - and the car cranks, can it still have anything to do with the ignition barrel ?. -
im the same but thats why i said in the OP that if you "had" to what would it be?? your not allowed to keep yours ok  haha, alright then, RS4 or RS6 sedan for me then...........lol..........but then again I will NEVER (and I repeat NEVER) give the C up.....lol ;)
-
Personally will not ever SWAP it - buy another car yes, but pretty much made up my mind that I'm keeping it as long as I'm on this planet :) (or it's get to a point it's not salvagable)
-
yea, nr 6 is only for "normal" setup - the red cup (or purple on the KW) replaces this one ;)
-
yea - you can always check with someone else - but I also bought those nuts, and a mechanic with 30+ years experience told me I would be better of using the ones without the "wing" - as the wing doesn't go thru the hole of the rubber thingy - and the nut is pretty much there for holding pressure on the bearing. The rubber thingy should be "free" anyway :)
-
Also if you have these type of nuts I think they are not right: it should look more like nr 3 here:

Hi Mawrick, I live in a town called Strabane, it's North West of the country, on the border between Co. Donegal & Co.Tyrone :D Thanks for the illustration but I have no.7 and no.8 the other way round  Ok - Mostly spend my time in Galway - although traveled most of the country :) Then you have them mixed - the nut should hold the bearing - not the rubber thingy ;)
-
off topic - but where about in Ireland are you from ? :) (Used to travel a bit around down there - never saw a C around there though)....:)
-
This pretty much sums it up: nr5 beiing that red cup :)
-
haha - not sure I'l go with that though - not liking em much myself :) lol
-
Not sure on this - but to me it would make sense to have the wider part of the spring at the bottom????
-
ahh, ok - so MK2 golf guards would fit? (or rather the ones that fitted the MK2 golf?)
-
Anyone know if VW had mudguards for the Corrado ? Eventually what part number? If not - is there any that will "fit" ?
-
And YES! it's gonna go lower :)
-
no probs - hopefully you will figure it out! :)
-
naa - really not sure if you could actually test it with resistance. I would take a physical look at them first - maybe it's dirt between the sensor and "wheel" also. If the wire have gotten "caught" by the new suspension it might even be ripped off. :)
-
Maybe damaged one of the ABS sensors? - or maybe the wires going to them?.
