  1. Would that be like Toffeerado? (See pg3) Edit: Damn....pipped to the post by steve_16v
  2. How do you lock the car once your in if you don't have the pins? Have you wired a switch to the door solenoid to lock it or don't you lock it when driving? Richbrook do solenoid door pins - less trick than just LEDs but safer if you can't lock it once your in. I've heard quite a few stories about cars being hijacked at traffic lights.
  3. It's gotta be related to the parking light - I'd trace the wiring back to the indicator stalk. Also do you have an uprated headlight loom? I'd disconnect it and sort your problem without it - then put it back on once the problems fixed - mine causes me headaches when I have headlight problems.
  4. The same thing happened with my brothers golf, we tried new pump, checked all pipes etc. It turned out to be the vacuum unit in the drivers door.
  5. Gave VW a ring today, they called me back and spooled off tonnes of history, but unfortunately none of it was for the first 3 years and I've got all the rest from 1994 onwards
  6. I guess a bike engine - Hayabusa? Z cars involved?
  7. yeah, C feels more refined and leisurely than G
  8. It's Smith Knight Faye in Stockport - still there, I'll probably drop in on way to Tatton Park if they can do receipts too. Fingers X'd

    DID YOU ALL SEE

Bug and tar wipes from Halfords/motor factors might shift it.
  10. Someone told me about it and said there might be a charge, worth paying a few £ though if I can get complete S/H. I did think it might be to long ago - I'll give 'em a ring tonight/tomorrow and let you know what they say and how much it costs. Cheers
  11. I run a 1.8 16v C, my bro's got a 1.8 16v golf - his feels faster IMO, never had a race though. Both have been modified by previous owners but not sure to what extent. WUR mod increases amount of fuel, AFAIK theres a dimple on the back of the WUR, drill this out and theres an adjustment screw to increase or lean off amount of fuel WUR adds. Timing will need to be fettled after adjusting fuelling.
  12. Mines the same, I think the belts a bit too tight - deffo cambelt though.
  13. Is it possible to retrieve service history from VW? The history I have with my car has a 3 year gap - I have the original sales slip from VW, check sheet etc (1991), then 3 years later (1994) it was sold as approved used by the same dealer, I have full history from there on. Do dealers keep records of jobs on file? Cheers, Gav
  14. sorry, where are my manners.....welcome to the forum leec Can you clear up the story on the C? BTW I still think pink looks ghey.
  15. Yeah D90's, those splits would look good on a golf, remind me of A3 alloys.
  16. I bet Trippy wouldn't want it back now anyhow - it looks ghey. Plently filler gone in there too, don't suppose you were driving like you stole it? :?
  17. Nice ride mate, never heard of Covin's till recently. A guy's been trying to sell a flat nose one on ebay for a while - thinks it's a bit of a nail though. I love the 80's 911, but as you said it's the huge bills that'd stump me, oh and the insurance! Cool as funk :afro:
  18. The electrical trunkings known as conduit, I used to work for an industrial lighting manufacturer and they put all the wiring in that stuff - I have a roll of it at home......dunno how it got there? :D
  19. /\ I do that religously now - it's hard to judge the level on the gauge due to the angle of the clocks and the adjustment on the seat, from the angle I look at it when sat back its at the top of the red, when I sit up and look straight on its at the bottom.
  20. The handles look exactly the same as the C ones but without the lock. You need the mechs too for them to work as the striker arm is longer. From the sounds of your description you have the later handles with the 'more rounded edge'. I have a drivers side handle you can have for £6 posted, don't have the passenger side or mechs though.
  21. £16k for a mk2? Surely not?? I could advertise my car for £20k but that doesn't mean it'd sell! I can't imagine anyone on here paying so much. No-one disputes the amount of cash and time thats gone into the car, its spot on. I think the fact that you've blown your trumpet so much and made it so well known as your car has and will put people off. Great car Jay, but you'll never make your £ back, and doesn't matter how many parts are new.
  22. Stop talking about Kevs rim like that  :offtopic1:
  23. /\ I agree, but if you change the rims and it'll look a lot fresher and less like 'Jay's C'.
  24. I looked at these around Xmas time, both Performance Solutions and Venom had them cheap, with free postage.
