  1. Spotted this 1600 Diesel on ebay, in the commercials section: Clicky and an interior/1915cc motor here: Interior clicky (got to breaking section then select VW as manufacturer and browse, they have a C here too but I've raped it for most of the good bits, full grey still interior in it though, and a near new brake servo) Cheap cheap 8)
  2. Depends on the skill of the owner really, I find people with splits tend to either have good mechanical/fabrication skills or deep pockets! Also big capacity aircooled in a split = removal of reduction boxes so factor in a straight axle or IRS conversion to prices. Look forward to the pics mate.
  3. Shall we count up how many people have got feked vr engines as well? Doesn't mean they're bad engines does it. Where in dazzyvr6's post does it actually say aircooled engines are no good? He was just saying whats going on in the aircooled scene. My bro is restoring a '62 double-door panel at the mo, and my mate runs a 1641 aircooled bay. I'm not a fan of subura plants, prefer the OE+ street rod approach but its a fact that people go for subaru motors cos its more bang for your bucks. Plus you'll need a large bore motor before rebuilding and slapping a turbo on, so if you start off with a 1200 bus you'll need to pay out more than £1200 as you need a high capacity motor.
  4. Also people don't disregard the air-cooled engines because they are schit, it's just down to cost, why spend 2k plus on a tuned aircooled motor when you can pick up a subaru motor for £500????
  5. I've been having a look at campers recently too, prices are through the roof at the mo though so your very unlikely get a minter for 3k, especially not a bay (don't look on ebay, local ads are cheapest). T25's are rising in price as a consequence of the desirability of splits, which has had a chain reaction down the line pushing bay and T25 prices up. It'd be a good investment if you can get a tidy one, or do one up. The last T25's came with a good spec, air con, heated seats, power steering etc but are around 6k+ now. Your best bet is to look for an ex-works panel van, clean it up and convert the interior to camping spec, that way you'll get one cheap and could make a nice profit if you ever sell it on.
  6. Cheers to Paul (RapidVII) met up to buy some parts, sound as a pound and all parts in good nick. Recommended for any parts: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?p=503147#503147
  7. Try giving the drums/rear wheels a tap with a hammer to free the shoes off.
  8. Not keen on lambo doors at all, found this link though. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8146736602547577573&q=corrado and this one: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4779583522934152312&q=corrado
  9. Glad your getting somewhere with it Jim. I think the alarm fitters were trying to pull a fast one saying there was no way they could recertify a '94 alarm. My brother got his recertified on his golf, we had no idea when it was fitted - no questions asked by fitters they just checked it and issued a certificate. If anyone else is in the same predicament I wouldn't tell them its factory or year it was fitted, it just gives them the opportunity to say 'no, you need a new one' - just ask for an inspection and if in working order you'll get the VSIB.
  10. There's another one listed on the GSF site: 93478 RADIATOR THERMO SWITCH CO >7/93 3 Pin with Cover £7.95 The other ones said General vw, so must be different from the C, that on above sounds right from your description. Just take it back and swap it. Stoopid GSF website should be more clear.
  11. I've sold three cars through ebay, not had any problems - the sale were'nt finalised through ebay. I start the listing on a monday, run it for 7 days and state that viewings can be arranged for the coming weekend. Also put in the ad that its advertised privately and you reserve the right to remove it before the end of auction. Each time I listed a car people came to view on the saturday and took it there and then, paying cash. I then ended the auction early on ebay. As Jim said list everything and put plenty pics up, then when they come to view they will know pretty much everything and be more likely to buy. Good luck :thumbleft:
  12. Nice one, my missus loves the glc, how can I go about getting a signed bra then? It's for her - honest!
  13. Are you one of the GLC then? Safe as fcuk, you knows it!
  14. Whilst I was searching for the pics I read that the glass ones are in passats from 93-96, previous to this they were all metal. Someone also said moonroofs from estates sit slightly more flush with the C's roofline. :thumbleft:
  15. Found some pics of GIXXERUK's moonroof, looks spot on - think I'll be touring the breakers this weekend
  16. I like the sound of this mod, has anyone got any pics from inside and outside?
  17. http://planetforlife.com/h2/h2vehicle.html So the joe cell just produces hydrogen, which then runs the engine, with no magic involved? So where's the big conspiracy in all this? Also in some of the websites about the 'joe cell' it says joe successfully ran an engine, and eventually managed to even disconnect the fuel line. But whilst fuel was still connected wouldn't there be both an explosion and implosion within the chambers?

I use a mk2 G (+16v) haynes manual for all things engine related, I don't have it to hand but it's worth getting one off egay if you don't have one.

  21. I think the idea behind the 2 types is low temp for summer use and high temp for winter - to prevent over-heating in summer and over-cooling in winter. I'd stick a high temp one in that should be fine all round.
  22. Not sure on the Ka front, my bro's a spanner monkey at a Ford stealership and doesn't rate the Ka or the Fiesta. My Parents have a new Fiesta and its had to go back in for all sorts, rear windows drop, had a new headlight, new steering rack - all fixed under warranty but v.poor build quality.
  23. Put into the search: VW watercooled - Corrado - then its under the switches, sender, instruments category. I think its listed as the radiator thermo switch, £5.25 :thumb right:
  24. You could try VW approved used, they might be trying to punt on the Lupos now the Fox has arrived: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/used_cars
